Customers just saying "it's for a boy/man" and not elaborating makes me sad. Some women don't care about decorations, and some guys are very detail-oriented. A few months ago I asked my dad what colors he likes so I could gift him a new set of towels. He insisted whatever colors he likes doesn't matter because whatever i thought would suit his place would be best. Men sharing their likes and interests is fun. I wish more people approached guys with the mindset that he has takes on stuff. Up to him whether or not he shares those takes, but at least give him space to maybe share them. By asking.
Had these exact same problems with my dad. We would always ask what he wanted his birthday cake to be like, and he always said whatever was fine. I noticed this is very common with older generations for some reason, since my male friends and older brothers always had unique requests based on their hobbies and interests. Videogames, comics, specific characters, damn, even a Kafka's Metamorphosis themed one... but my uncles, father and grandfather? Apparently couldn't care less about how their cakes looked, as long as they tasted good!
Oh men have PLENTYYYY of takes. This is not an issue of men not having takes or having space or platforms to speak or express themselves. They are dominating positions of power compared to women- the issue is more of how the patriarchy still harms men, disallowing them to be creative or emotional or interested in “baking” and “decorating” and “throwing birthday parties w themes” because that’s what women do- they make them- they decorate them- they plan them….its is emasculating so men with weak senses of their masculinity and security in themselves don’t show sides of them that are vulnerable or personally creatively expressive. That’s why the patriarchy sucks for men too- they miss out on things when they’re too focused on being men and fitting in with our western culture and those around them- it’s also why feminism is for all.
No fr we’re so afraid of femininity that we stifle basic self expression in men. There’s shame associated with the vaguest qualities that might be associated with women- from liking details to expressing feelings. While a woman’s emotions are often called hysterical and used to tell her she doesn’t deserve power, she is at least expected to have them- while a man must never express those emotions at all to be deserving of power. There’s so much unlearning we need to do on so many levels when it comes to the shame we’ve placed on all of humanity by creating such strict gender hierarchies. It always leads to the oppression of men as well.
Anyway my boyfriend loves bluebonnets, the combination of green and pink, and bright art styles. He loves treasure planet, Mario, Pokémon and world war 1 history and aesthetics. He has so many different interests that could be inspiration for a design and I can’t imagine ever just writing “it’s for a boy” on an order for him tbh.
I have a son and over the years have made his birthday cake. When he was 5, we invited his whole class so I ordered a full sheet cake. He wanted a smiley face as it was his favorite color as well as favorite thing. He then said there should be flowers because girls were coming. The lovely woman put daisies and pale green leaves and vines on it. It was perfect…and so was your candle cake!
@@theflowers999he’s 5 don’t ruin his sweetness… who cares if not all girls like flowers, he was doing a nice thing on his birthday and trying to include everyone 🤦🏼♀️
I hate that statement, men can like nice things! It doesn't have to be bland and dull, they can have color and glitter. Flowers and other nature. I just wish the idea that men have to like dull things would go away.
It’s for a boy/man typically would mean blue, cars, sports. This doesn’t work for everyone, definitely wouldn’t for my husband but hey, if your man is an average dude, why not say that?
I want to thank you as another cake decorator. Your writing and spacing is amazing! You give me so many idea's and techniques. I hope they pay you what your worth because you are amazing. ❤
@@MessyBakerDon't feel bad- it's an absolutely adorable cake and I think it's the perfect amount of candles for the scale of the cake. You are so talented ❤
At Walmart, we have one called “Art Effects” and it’s often my go to for males or retirements if they don’t specify and say they like blue. Simple yet looks so nice!
There's 16 candles and if they add 18 real candles on, he'll be 34 😂 Also an 18 year old Ernie makes my heart happy. I love hearing "older names" live on in young people.
It's a great design...but if you do it again, I think you should put little wicks on before the flames, it's a little detail but I think they would look a lot more like candles
Great job. Yeah people never are specific for men/boys most of the time lol. Also an idea for candles you can use a round tip and do small circles on top of eachother upwards to give it the spiral pattern instead of flattening the icing down to conserve time. Keep the great cakes coming ^-^
It looks great ! Love it ! Man or Boy it works really well. It depends whether the customer wants to pay for a decoration that is specific. Roses are the go to for basic decorating Woman any color Boys or Men - typically more masculine colors unless you are advised differently. 😉💖👍
Oh my goodness how unique is that?!!!! That cake is the HAPPY in Happy birthday!!! 😍 I love your attention to detail by putting 18 candles on there! Bravo!
Im not hard to find a cake for. Anything really as long as it has icing and tastes and good and is cake. The colour is definitely navy blue, luxurious.
plssss men like flowers. what is wrong with humans?? every creature on the planet likes flowers 😅 if a man is upset by frosting flowers then he is too butch for cake any way. and definitely has bigger issues than what's on his cake.
My boyfriends friend recently got a birthday cake that was candy themed, super colourful and covered in decorations. A 5 year old girl would've loved it. He loved it too! Men are not robots, they enjoy beautiful things
That was perfection! 💟 Love it 💟 It's like making dinner. If someone gives you an idea, it's a lot easier than having to think of something on your own and then cooking it too.
I think you did a fantastic job with this design! I love it. It is, somehow, masculine looking. But it also could just be gender-neutral. I'm a woman and I don't especially like super girly or flowery things. I would like this design on a birthday cake for me.
Yall I’m bad at math
I just realized that there are only sixteen candles on there. 😅🫠 It does look really good though!
Girl, that's not math, that's counting! But you can decorated a beautiful cake!
Counting is math. What else would it be?
real 😔
They could put two real candles on and light them. Problem solved!

Everyone is different and there are some men who find flowers and glitter too feminine. They should’ve told her what he personally likes.
Even if they're a burly lumberjack who hates color and glitter, I'm sure there's a visual that would make them smile.
@@lindsayceara More like some women tell men that flowers and color are too feminine. Just like you're doing now! What a surprise 🙃

Ernie for a young person isn't one I've heard!
I really like this design! Very well done.
It depends on the culture. Ernie is also short for Ernesto which is very common.❤
I literally said "Ernie?!" Out loud. My grandpa's name is Ernie
@@LolaPayola yes, but I don't often meet Ernestos either haha. I'm a medical worker and see lots of names everyday
Coulda done a cake w their Pic on it
Same!
Babe there’s 16 candles… not 18 😂
She was being sarcastic so we’d count them and see there were 16 and write a comment like this 😭
Obviously she knows
16 candles was a great movie
