Very nice. You reminded me of my childhood when I would see my grandmother n friend would go to nearby temple where some learned people would come talk about Puranas.
Coming Sri.Vidyaranya Swami was actually called as Madhava. Sri.Veda Vyasa surprised at the scholarliness of the author of various works gave him the appellation Vidyaranya meaning A forest of knowledge. He wrote Sarvadarshana Sangraham and Panchadashi.
He was the founder of the great Vijayanagara Empire and close friend of Harihara and Bukka Rayalu of Vijayanagara kingdom

Even in srimad bhagavatam 12.13.4-9 it comes 5th position in describing the number of verses each one has.

Wonderful video! It is so modern in its narration - concise and clear. I loved many things that are particularly dear to me.
1) Brahma Purana - that it makes a detailed mention of ancient Odisha, Utkala, my home state.
2) Markandeya Purana - that the Durga Saptasati figures in it. For me as an Odia, this is Chandi Patha, which my grandfather would read every year during the 5 days of Durga Puja - Sashti, Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Vijaya Dasami.
3) Skanda Purana - as this Purana describes different parts of India. That would be a valuable research material to understand the ancient Indian knowledge on the various parts of India.
4) Bhagavata Purana: Jagannatha Dasa of Odisha was the one who translated this tome into Odia.

Sri Rekha, very good talk about our Puranas. .You should have made lot of study and research on this subject. I appreciate your apt for knowing our ancient puranas and also explaining to all of us.Pl.continue.
Pradyumna and Balarama did not paticipate in Mahabharatha war as far as my knowledge goes. One more important aspect about the Mahabharatha war was that Lord Krishna gave "Moksha" to all those persons who sacrificed (died ) their lives in the war at Kurukshetra.
Mata jee, what a knowledge you posess!! Will I ever reach even half of your knowledge l in this life.
So you seems to know all that is to know about (creation of) the Universe and all that it includes, and exists.! Thanks for showing the way to get these very important knowledge!

A query - You know The Kashmir Files in being hotly debated. Now whatever I have been hearing and reading about Kashmir, it has taken me to the reading of the history of ancient Kashmir. In that context there is mention of the Nilamata Purana. Could you help throw light of this, since this too is called a Purana and Kalhana referred to it extensively for his epic, Rajtarangini.

No. You can go in any order.

You can start reading whichever Purana you like. 😊 I am not aware of any order.
