  • It's Sunday morning. In the park, Matt, Bosko and Tinhead have overslept and completely missed the sunrise. Matt awoke first and pretended that he'd been up in good time and had witnessed the most amazing dawn in the history of the world. As for Bosko and Tim, well, never mind, at least the hamster survived.
Matt and Bosko, acting oddly (as per normal, then!) and dressed in their 'druid robes' inadvertently manage to attract the attention of a couple of passing policemen on horseback. Naturally, they decide that they logical thing to do is scarper sharpish and having gathered together their assorted pillows, duvets and hamster, they, together with Tinhead, leg it towards the road.
Despite their promise, Jerome and Leo never witnessed the dawn either - they didn't return in time. They did make it back, not in time for the sunrise perhaps, but they arrived just at the right moment to enable Matt, Bosko and Tinhead to escape from the bizzies. Quickly clambering into the car, stowing the staffs (staves?) initially caused a slight problem until they had the bright idea of stuffing them through the open sunroof (LOL!).
Later, back at Mick's, they're all preparing to set off for Stonehenge. Leo hasn't said anything to Mick, yet. He needn't have worried though, Mick's fine about it: "Sounds like it could be a laugh. Make sure you behave yourselves" is all he has to say. Yeah, I was surprised too!
Over at Number Seven, Susannah and Greg have finally managed to rid themselves of their various children, wives and nannies. They spend much of the day tucked up in bed.
It's Father's Day and Rachel has suddenly realised that she's neglected to send Sinbad a card (you know, from Ruthie - 'cos Mandy always did!). She decides to make amends by inviting Sin over for tea.
Ron offers to help by taking Ruth off Rachel's hands for an hour or so whilst she prepares the food. Of course, Sinbad happens to be on the parade when Ron is making tracks to his shop with Ruth. They exchange words (no, not pleasantries!) and go their separate ways.
Inside Great Grannies, Ron is pottering around when the phone rings. Engrossed in his call (from Anthea), he fails to notice Little Ruthie examining a box of assorted cleaning equipment. When he finally looks across, it's too late. Ruth has unscrewed the top from an old soft drink bottle and swallowed some of the contents. Ron is distraught as Ruth screams in agony.
Panicking, Ron carries Ruthie outside where as luck would have it, Doctor Darren is returning from a run. Ruth is still screaming and Ron explains that she's drunk some bleach. Rachel, Mike and Sinbad hear the disturbance and come down from the flat. An ambulance arrives and whisks Ruth off to hospital.
Forbidden to go with Ruth due to his agitated state, Sinbad paces about frantically blaming Ron: "The explosion wasn't enough, was it?" he screams. "Now you're trying to poison my little girl. I'm gonna kill you for this." Fortunately for Ron, Sinbad is restrained by Mike and Mick.
Ron, being Ron, has a go back. Mike has to turn his restraining skills towards his father: "Just leave it will you Pops. It's not worth the aggro. He's just a bit upset." A *bit upset*? A slight understatement there, I think, Mike!
Ron (to Mike): "Upset? He's a flamin' nutcase. (To Sin): You want locking up you, do. You know what? If I was Rachel, I wouldn't want you anywhere near me."
That tips Sinbad over the edge. Breaking free from Mick, he lunges at Ron and the two of them career straight through Great Grannies' front window and land amid a mass of shattered glass. Time to call for a second ambulance, I think.

Brookside could never be brought back because it belongs in the 80/90s. It would never have the same appeal :(

The acting was quite terrible in places - it's about time to kill some characters off, I think...

watching 80s Corrie now. Seems strange seeing Jackie Corkhill in that, behind the bar of the Rovers!

Looking back at this, I can see by this point the show had lost it's way. Focusing on affairs, teenage idiots and two grown men crashing through a window that easily.

I quite liked Ron. He didn’t seem all that bad, a bit of a Ducker and diver but he seemed to mean well
