- Dead Sea Mud is rich in minerals and when added to soap makes a wonderful spa bar. It add a little extra colour, I also add in some seaweed powder which has a very similar mineral makeup.

My recipe was inspired by Royalty Soaps but has been tweaked to include my favourite ingredient, Shea Butter.

30% Coconut Oil
20% Palm Oil
3% Shea Butter
42% Olive Oil
5% Castor Oil
Superfat - 5%
Lye and Water - I work at 33% Water but you can choose the amount that works best for you. The Lye amount can be calculated using your favourite soap calculator. I prefer to use

Dead Sea Mud soap is my absolute favourite soap!! It's so nice on the skin. I put Litsea cubeba and Lemon 5-fold in my soap and when I make it I can't stop smelling it!! Your soap looks so very rich with a LOT of clays and mud!! 💞

Just started the video and had to stop for a second... try using a Circular Polarizer filter on the end of your camera lens (assuming you're using a dslr. the filter should be the same size as the lens cap. Hoya makes exceptional lens filters). It won't remove all of the light reflection on your table, but it will help to reduce it. Not sure what kind of lighting you're using but from what I understand you can also use a polarizing film over the light, too. Check your local pro camera shop for more info.

That would be the combined smell of minerals and a bit of fermentation from the stuff that floats to the bottom.
I will have to try dead sea mud in my facial bars. It does look very creamy. Looks wonderful! 👍

Oh another thing I thought of. Was you could get an apron with your company name on it! If you change your camera angle it would show in the video. Just a thought. I’ve seen a few other Soapers do this!

Random question: is there a better or worse time of the year (in terms of seasons) to use a soap like this?
I'm not sure in terms of specific ingredients but I do find that generally soaping on hot days is trickier than cool days. I usually make more soap in winter as I get better swirl techniques

P.S. your finished soap looks luscious 😌 and its silky smooth feel is tangible right through the screen 😊. I hadn’t seen the full video earlier. I did laugh as you tried so hard to cover the natural mineral smell, though…as I made a Soleseife batch recently and specifically included Kelp Powder. Not just for its amazing benefits but also because I wanted my soap to have the aroma of the sea ((-_~’. Albeit I did have to keep resisting the urge to add an Essential Oil, or two 😀

Yes, sadly people do take other people's videos and upload them on their own channel. They usually edit out names and other important information but YT are now getting onto of it

Got the notification for this video when I was at markets this morning so I've been hanging out all day to watch it :) Good thinking with the seaweed powder & clay. The soap looks really lovely. Well done :) You need to make a full on clay soap (like 2-3 cups of kaolin clay per kg oil) and see what you think. It's like the dead sea mud bar but even creamier.

It's not right, but they have to live with themselves. Most of us find our music on Royalty Free sites to use - I list all their details in the description box 😊
