Double digging technique

This video explains the benefits of double digging and demonstrates how to double dig the garden beds in a permagarden. Double digging is a technique used to loosen soil to increase drainage and aeration and improve soil quality.
This video series introduces the Permagarden Approach and how to implement it step-by-step. The permagarden approach combines components of permaculture and bio-intensive agriculture to create a highly productive garden using a small amount of land. It focuses on water management, building healthy soils using local resources, and strengthening local capacity.
The videos were created by the USAID/Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA)-funded Food Security Program Enyanya in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) with the support of the USAID/BHA-funded SCALE Award.
