When they were talking about Ribs and Ella says there's no chorus and the guy says there's no resolution it just fades and she says that's what she likes about it because it's not what people expect. That's exactly why her music transcends everyone else's. She does what she wants.
I'm more of a rock and metal kind of guy, but damn I love Lorde. Her songs are just so well done, and considered. I have massive respect for this girl. I love any music that respects the artform, it's about the passion, not performance, and though she nails both, it's clear that the passion comes first. Great stuff.
Lorde's music is just so different than anything that's ever been done well. She's just different, mysterious. And most importantly, passionate. I'm so glad that she's mainstream, because it shows that people will still love great music.
Erick Sanchez *She's not that different lol. You can hear Lana Del Rey inspiration in her music and a lot of the track sound like other alternative pop singers. I love Lorde though. But she's not that unique*
I fucking love Lorde to death. And, honestly, I know she's not the best live singer in the world but I am 100% okay with that. I am more attracted to her overall energy, vibe, and song lyrics. Her lyrics are honestly what makes her so great in my opinion.
Archer King ok so I was totally onboard with you until you said she isn't the best singer live. she's the best singer live! have you seen how free spirited and the energy she gives out and not to mention she's a beautiful soul and you can hear that when she sings, she sounds amazing all the time in my opinion.
Archer King I know that your comment is already pretty old now but I just want to say that I think she is now one of the Best live singer I know☺☺☺(Sorry for my bad english😳)
I still remember the day I heard the song royals for the first time. The music video came on tv one morning while I was getting ready for work and I stopped dead in my tracks on sat down on the bed and was mesmerized by her voice and beauty. The man who said it catches you from the moment it comes on is 100% accurate! Best of luck to you Lorde.
I gotta point out one important thing - before Lorde there wasn't that style of singing that you hear now literally everywhere, that kind of voice. When I first heard her after the 'Royals' came out, I was so into her music 'cause this was something completely new. And then many singers started adopting her style of music, but she was a discoverer for sure. So we should not forget about that. She is unique and genuine, and the fact that she's being criticized so much for absolutely stupid things like appearance (she's gorgeous, by the way) , the mv or anything else just proves that she is an outstanding artist.
I’m 17 and If I could just write one song that sounds like and is as good as hers I’d be happy. It baffles my mind that she wrote many of them from her first album when she was 15! It’s amazing
Yes, people WIIL & DO Hate you just for being Yourself.... But they themselves want everyone to ACCEPT THEM for who THEY Are... It's sad but extremely true.. Just for being oneself, people will hate you....
i was about 6 when pure heroine came out, and only started really listening to Ella spring 2020, i feel like i really connect with her music. i’m so happy she’s hinting at music for next year!!
Pretty damn character strong for a 16-year-old. I was a lot more childish (and certainly not mature enough to write those kinds of lyrics) at 16, even though I consider myself an 'old soul' and quite deep. But Lorde was that at 16 and I am in my twenties. Also, she's never bought into the whole fame thing and gone Britney Spears or Miley Cyrus insane even though she was in it from a young age. Like I said, character strong.
You know, I've grown up listening to a lot of genres of music growing up. I'm 16 years old, so not quite old at all, but growing up I went through a heavy metal phase, although now I'm not that big of a fan. Since I was about 11 or 12, I started to listen to mainly hip-hop and rap music. For the years up until I was about 15, almost all I listened to was rap and I cared for no other genre because I was just stubborn and didn't want to listen to anything else. When Lorde, or Ella as I just like to call her, released pure heroine I wasn't too interested because I wasn't into pop, mainly just rap. Then once I heard her beautiful voice come through the radio speakers, I fell in love. I'm a huge fan, I have a Lorde sweater and two T-Shirts and even have the vinyl record of pure heroine. I have yet to go to a concert but I will for sure as soon as I can. I think that most music on the radio sounds awfully alike most of the time, but Lorde did something different, and I love her for that.
She is smart, talented witch. I love her music so much! I'm so glad that she didn't want to perform w Katy Perry (I don't really like her music). And new album is a masterpiece! She is like mystery mixed with magic.
she's come such a long way. i remember watching this video 4 years ago and now, 'melodrama' turns 2 years old today and i can't wait to see what she has in store 🌷🌿
Joel Little and Scott Mclauglin (did I get the names right?) seem like such intelligent, sensitive people to help her on her way, and I guess they did an awesome job. And the dancing - Lorde, what has happened? Saw you at hurricane, and it also was your amazing way to move to your songs which made us such huge fans as we are now. You seemed so shy back then, and now you are so explosive on stage! What ever you did, it was the right thing!
watching this now it makes me so happy how happy she seemed at her first show when she was getting cheered on, i think it was really lovely. i kinda miss this
you can tell that she is more passionate about the process of making her music rather than making lots of money and fame i love her for that. I AM EXCITED FOR HER NEXT ALBUM
yeah the only times I ever filmed at a show were the first and possibly only time I'd ever get to see some of my favorite artists and even then, the videos sucked cause I didnt look thru the viewfinder I just held it in the air while still watching the REAL LIFE stage. & later when I got the chance to see more bands of extreme significance, I just kept the phone away altogether, as considering my superfandom it was obviously NOT something I was gonna forget and besides, a phone doesn't belong in a moshpit
no but really it is disrespectful. I'm even proud to say that billie joe made a whole ass announcement at the beginning of Green Days set that year that he didnt wanna see phones up in the air and just to enjoy what was right in front of you. I was like no wonder this has been my favorite band since childhood lmao
the first time i heard this song I was driving along dominion road in summer with the roof down and it came on george fm. i immediately loved it. its such a vivid memory as well
Insane watching this during the build up towards Solar Power. We all knew she'd be a star but could anyone have predicted the masterpiece that is Melodrama??? Lorde is truly an artist for the history books and I'm so excited to see what she does with the rest of her career.
She is gonna be one of the greatest of all time, for real
David Alejandro senas let's hope so her upcoming new record is out this week hope it's as good as Pure Heroine!!! she seems like a beautiful soul😎
Sure, ok......
You got it right mate
David Alejandro senas when exactly is that gonna happen!?
David Alejandro senas lol
When they were talking about Ribs and Ella says there's no chorus and the guy says there's no resolution it just fades and she says that's what she likes about it because it's not what people expect.
That's exactly why her music transcends everyone else's. She does what she wants.
i'm like.. Ella knows what she's doing
That song is truly incredible I can’t believe it exists
Lorde looks like the most beautiful gorgeous witch in her hair. She's unique Thats why I like her.
Me to
miss that hair
Me too
Why does everyone on all her videos seem to comment on that she's ugly etc. I think she's stunning!
i know right!
Yup. She's a head turner!
Shes very pretty. Maybe becuz I love white girls
she really is the most beautiful
She's totally beautiful.
I'm more of a rock and metal kind of guy, but damn I love Lorde. Her songs are just so well done, and considered. I have massive respect for this girl. I love any music that respects the artform, it's about the passion, not performance, and though she nails both, it's clear that the passion comes first. Great stuff.
Yeah I can jump from Gojira to this and back easily it's just that good
+TabletTriple9 same
Me too, not many, Xtina was the pioneer.
Exactly me. Lol..... cussing Linkin Park for one more light but getting every single from Lorde.😂
I feel you, I listen to mostly black metal and I can easily transition from something like Satanic Warmaster or Peste Noire to Lorde haha.
She is what the music industry should have always been:
About the music.
And cold hard cash
god I hope not...one hit wonder.
Exactly.
That depends on what your definition of music is.
Sugarsail1 hilarious, anyway buy Melodrama on itunes
One of the most modest, intelligent and high classes singers of all time
Lorde's music is just so different than anything that's ever been done well. She's just different, mysterious. And most importantly, passionate. I'm so glad that she's mainstream, because it shows that people will still love great music.
I couldn't agree more! 🙌🏼
Thanks for agreeing, bro.
No problem! 😄
Erick Sanchez *She's not that different lol. You can hear Lana Del Rey inspiration in her music and a lot of the track sound like other alternative pop singers. I love Lorde though. But she's not that unique*
A true artist. Not a cookie-cutter pop star.
can we just take a moment to realize that that executive guy was about to ruin the masterpiece that is Ribs
Yeah that's was I was thinking
I am so proud of her for how far shes come, from both a fan and fellow kiwi, shes easily one of the best things to come out of our country
7:20 "get to the chorus and don't bore us"........and that's what's wrong with the music industry today in one sentence.
my favorite song is buzzcut season
Pastel_ Skyy I personally love tennis court
Pastel_ Skyy or ribs
One of mine is Team
Ribs, A World Alone, and Tennis Court are my favorite 3.
15:08 Wish I could hear more of this "Hospital" song
I KNOW IT SOUNDS SO GOOD.
she looks naturally beautiful even without make up
She seems so mature and down to earth.
my favorite artist, there’s no one like her. no one.
If Lorde's hair were red she's be a perfect replica of Merida from the movie Brave
😏
TRUE xD
omg so true
+Ruth Ortega Watch Once upon a time season 5, thats the real merida.
+Joe Taylor Bruh she has talent
DAVID GARCIA Ignore him, he is upset over the fact that no one pays attention to his fuck boy status.
I fucking love Lorde to death. And, honestly, I know she's not the best live singer in the world but I am 100% okay with that. I am more attracted to her overall energy, vibe, and song lyrics. Her lyrics are honestly what makes her so great in my opinion.
Agreed
Just look at bob dylan. If your words are good people will listen, wvwn if it isn't the most attractive voice.
Archer King ok so I was totally onboard with you until you said she isn't the best singer live. she's the best singer live! have you seen how free spirited and the energy she gives out and not to mention she's a beautiful soul and you can hear that when she sings, she sounds amazing all the time in my opinion.
ryan vaughn Bob Dylan always has a good voice live.

14:32 i love that she stands up for her music so much. she makes what she wants to make.
As a metal head, I approve of this lovely young lady and her music.
lorde is a lyrical genius !!!!!
Royals was my favorite song ever and I'm 70
ribs always makes me cry and when I saw her doing it live i nearly started crying omg Lorde is absolutely fucking amazing
Lorde is simply an amazing person hands down.
I LOVE her hair
Lorde was saying in a polite way to the TV woman presenter "piss off" when asked if she had a pre ritual b4 gettin on stage lol
robert james ikr lmao
😂😂😂😂 She really did though I was gettin that vibe as well. I was like can you not tell that she wants to be left alone
LOL 😂
I’m in stitches 🤣🤣🤣
I even love her voice when she is talking. Crazy
I gotta point out one important thing - before Lorde there wasn't that style of singing that you hear now literally everywhere, that kind of voice.

So she's hated on for being herself? Sounds very familiar.
한국 내셔널 리 즘이 영원히! 일본 파시즘을 씨 발! Same as Bjork...yet both of them create timeless pieces of art!
taylor swift
@@xenomorph778 Taylor is a sellout.
Yes, people WIIL & DO Hate you just for being Yourself.... But they themselves want everyone to ACCEPT THEM for who THEY Are... It's sad but extremely true.. Just for being oneself, people will hate you....

Authentic artist and one that gree with her fans, I'm jealous I'm not there to share her story the experience
SHE IS THE FUTURE OF MUSIC
I like songs with a story. add a powerful voice. and some low bass and you have LORDE!!
Phenomenal performer, creator, musician. Lorde help me!
Good call. Birdie started with a cover album and it was hard (for me) to enjoy her "normal" music as much in the second album.
She was the blue-print and catalyst for the Billie Eilish’s and alt singers of today.
I think she is beautiful and has a wonderful voice
she's so talented
I love her
I really hope she puts lost boys on her new album
Pretty incredible to see how far she's gone since this interview. Well done!
Insane watching this during the build up towards Solar Power. We all knew she'd be a star but could anyone have predicted the masterpiece that is Melodrama??? Lorde is truly an artist for the history books and I'm so excited to see what she does with the rest of her career.
