  • STL Tones has added the Krater Dimed Plus amplifier to AmpHub! Krater Dimed Plus is an emulation of the Krank Krankenstein, famously used by Dimebag Darrell from Pantera.
    In this video, I will test the Krater Dimed Plus amplifier in a full metal mix, and share my thoughts on the amplifier as a professional audio engineer.
    Disclosure: I received this AmpHub update for free in exchange for a fair, honest review.

    Welcome back!
    Your hair will be missed as it was glorious, but your new style suits you nicely!
    As a guitar player who also is trying to produce music I personally think that STL Tones stuff feel and sound great!
    Long time Will Putney plugin user and it's still my go-to plugin even though I have way too many plugins to choose from.

      Thank you! I do not miss my long hair haha. Such a pain in the ass in my daily life lol.
      Glad to hear STL stuff feels good too! I have the STL Will Putney as well, though I haven't really dived into it.

    Waiting on that Amphub video. Would love to see you dial a solid tone using the rectifier model.

      Thank you for being here! In the last few months I was just so swamped. I've been slowly trying to get everything organized and figure out a good workflow for me to do RUclips more regularly :)

    This song is epic! It sounds really well made. I don't know anything about sound engineering but your video production is top notch.
    Is the music in this video a finished product? If so, what's the name of the track? I'd love to hear the entire piece.
    Keep up the incredible work!

    The Krankenstein has a matching cab that (I think) came with Texas Heat speakers in it. Wasn't ever a super huge fan of it (paired with the head), but it would have been nice to have the option. Good stuff as usual, man.

    • @JamesZhan
      @JamesZhan  2 года назад +1

      Didn't know that, so thanks for the info! Maybe STL didn't think the matching cab is worth capturing? Or maybe they couldn't get their hands on one. Who knows haha. Anyways, glad you liked the video!

    Really loved ur mixes n review.can you kindly make a detailed video on midi functionality of amphub for live gig to change presets with midi controller like xsonic xtone or any kind of midi controller? Thanks in advance ❤🤘🏻

      Glad you liked the review! Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think I'm qualified or equipped to test MIDI functionality. I'm no gigging musician, haha.

    This guitar tone sounds pretty amazing in the mix, in my opinion.

    Cool video
    Just wonder what you do to fill in the space for that clean guitar parts. Is it just guitar with shimmer reverb?
    Edit around 1:10

      There are some synths in the background as well on top of the Spaceverb.

    I loved how it sounds, actually you can make amphub sound almost like any amps, you just need to put some time into that.
    This Krater has a killer high gain distortion that I can’t find in nolly, but somehow I also love nolly archetype
    What you think about them? They sound very different right? Sometimes I think nolly is perfect for some stuffs but this krater has more aggressiveness I guess,
    Cheers :)

    HAIRCUT??.. lol.. I cut mine too. I have amphub and my problem is the tones are almost the same on every amp unlike amplitube or neural dsp where you can hear the specifics that makes an amps tone different from another.

      Haha yes long hair no more! It's interesting what you said about AmpHub! I only received AmpHub for this update, so I'm going to test it properly and do a full review on it as a whole (rather than focusing on just one amplifier like this video).

      @gorf101 2 года назад

      Yeah , I've had it since it started and only a few out of the dozen or so on here have a large difference between them (orange and kobra off the top of my head) but seriously i think this it for me . i bought the "Will Putney" edition from stl tones , I do like that and i think that will definitely be the keeper for me with the rest of my amp collection.

    I like how the STL amps sound in the mix but having said that it requires a lot of tweaking and adding pedals like those EQs and overdrives to make it sound the way I want it to sound. All the simulations have the same digital high end, almost like a tail that is annoying, I just can't get rid of it, it's even more clear on Tone Hub than it is on Amphub... I've compared them with other platforms like MLSound lab and Neural DSP and the other plugins are way easier to dial in, you plug your guitar and they sound more like the real thing, 80% of the sound is already there, you just tweak some knobs and that's it, no need to add EQs, drives or spend several minutes trying to find a cab combination etc.....
