My God, what I'm waiting for this sample set. About 10 years ago I was able to play this organ, an experience I will never forget. You have really found a beautiful, diverting suite. It was a pleasure to listen to.
That must have been a great experience, I can imagine that. Thanks for listening, Nils-Ole. And you have to wait probably some months until the final release of this set, sorry ;)
Hello Ralph, the sample sounds fantastic and you play the suite wonderfully! The registration is just great, beautiful French organ music! Best regards, Roland
I LOVE this partita very much! thank you on your hard work, Ralph. One can see the similarities of this with various pieces by Bach! Wow; many congratulations.
@@RalphLooij You're welcome! :) Oh, just similar motion or harmonic exploration in lots of the movements; I especially find the third movement REALLY cool!
Brilliant. Thanks for your wonderful playing and interpretation. Beautiful organ, one of the best in the world in my view. I loved Richter's performance of the Bach d-minor on this organ. It's still sounding good even in hauptwerk form.
Thanks, Matt! Yes, Richter is the man who made this organ very famous. The sample set is very realistic, luckily. It gives a good impression of how it sounds for real.
Fantastic playing. And while you like the small Riepp organ from Ottobeuren very much, this big machine must be fantastic to play with. By the way, I like the do the most from this collection!
Ok think Austin Powers and say "yeah baby!" One of my favorite organs. Has mild and sweet stops as you opened with and some great French reeds. Unfortunately not to many Reip organs survived unmolested. This is one of the larger ones well preserved and speaking with all the power and glory as when it was new. An interesting suite Ralph. My first exposure to this Organ was a disc by Jan Overduin. And after that I found Karl Richter playing Bach on it via RUclips videos. To bad I cannot find higher quality recordings. Wonderful sound, great sample set Thanks for making performance. Mark P.S. I really appreciate that you give us the sheet music. Keeps it a little more interesting.
Thanks for your appreciation, Mark! It's a shame that only these two, the small and big Riepp of Ottobeuren, were well preserved. On the other hand, it makes it very unique, especially because they are both in the same church. I know that disc by Overduin. At first I found it rather curious that he recorded the complete organ works of the North German composer Georg Leyding on this organ, not a match on paper. However, in reality it works rather well. It shows that this organ can handle a lot.
@@RalphLooij This was my first exposure to the power of a French Organ. The Bombarde and the trumpets were just so exhilarating. SIlbermann too has some powerful reeds but this organ has a different balance. I listened to the Silbermann in Dresden in the early 80's on Teldec. That was on a cassette tape! I have been in awe of the music that can be created using the creative genius of the builders and the performance capabilities of the organists. I have reviewed quite a few great recordings over the years. And this organ is one that deserves more exposure.
@@KravchenkoAudioPerth I hope that I can contribute a little to that with this Hauptwerk sample set. Of course that raises the question (for some) what's best: a CD recording or Hauptwerk recording. At least I don't have to travel back and forth to Ottobeuren to just play some wonderful organ works on the organ :) Although nothing beats playing the real thing.
What a nice little Suite, it shows the typical movements of a french baroque suite in a compact form. I might try to learn it to for future concerts! ;) And very beautiful, that OrganArt also sampled the "Dreifaltigkeitsorgel" at Ottobeuren, which perfectly accompains the already exsisting "Heilig-Geist Orgel"!
Shame on you ;) No of course not, there is a lot to discover regarding French baroque and classical composers. Unfortunately in Holland we didn't have many great composers in that time. Luckily we did/do have great organs though ;)
I have two recordings by Ton Koopman played with this organ (the real thing). I happened to be once travelling in southern Germany and saw a signpost “Ottobeuren”. I immediately decided I need to visit the place. What a marvelous abbey there was with rococo decorations and four skeletons of saints in their glass displays! I talked to one monk there and he was kind enough to play some music with the organs. Unforgettable moment!
I so much enjoyed this!! With your great playing and your understanding of this style of music, this performance is my favorite on the Ottobeuren/ Riepp organs. Bravo!
I didn't know this composer, thank you for your interpretation. His music is really interesting because it mixes Baroque French suites and a more modern, classical style. The music is clearly less "horizontal", the trio especially striked me because it's normally very easy to follow the different voices in a Baroque French trio. Do you know other French composers in the same period? I only know Balbastre and I'm not sure he composed similar stuff
When will the final sample set be available for purchase? This is the most beautiful organ in the world. I had the distinct honor to play it some years ago.
@@OttobeurenKaiser Yes, it is. It is available since December 2022 as sample set for Hauptwerk. See the website of the sample set producer: www.organartmedia.com/de/karl-joseph-riepp-3 Of course you need Hauptwerk for it, to use the sample set. Again, see website OAM.
Fantastic performanmce, Ralph!
Thanks, Marek!
This is very well done; thanks for introducing me to Notre!
Thanks, Salem! Also thanks for exploring my channel, much appreciated!

Oh my! This sounds marvelous. I cannot wait for this organ. Congratulations on an amazing presentation. Top level work from our friend Prof Maier!!!
Thanks, Jerry! You have to wait for some months probably, but it will be a fantastic set!
I admire your prudence in registration~ I fell in love with French romantic Organ music! thanks ! Ralph 😀😀😀💕💕💕
Thanks, Clara! I think this organ can handle a deal of French romantic music too, but of course within limits...

Thanks, Mitch! Interesting remarks about this French classical suite. Where do you find similarities with Bach pieces exactly?

This style an excellent model for improving French Classical suites. Short yet effective.
Yes, I like it when a composer keeps it short (but not simple, that basse de trompette took me some time to record properly)
Loop listening for some time now! As always, magnificent. Thanks for this
Now I understand the peeks in the video statistics, due to loop listening ;)
Thanks for listening!
You never stop coming up with amazing repertoire! Really excellent selections and excellently executed! 🙂
Thanks, April!
Absolutely amazing Ralph!👏👏👏👏

Thanks, Waldemar! There are many composers from this period, known and quite unknown, for example Corrette, Benaut, Séjan, Armand-Louis Coupering etc.
