Okay this wasn't just a video, it was a whole movie! My guy really came through with an experience on this one!!! 🔥 Anyway I've reacted to MANY BTS songs & videos so make sure to check those out at the playlist below! 🦁✨ ruclips.net/video/y3dsLD8DEGk/видео.html
Thoughts? I picture it as Tae creating V, the persona. Him walking and dancing by himself, in the theater (the performer), walking with a teddy bear (the child in him) the dancing crowd (those who influenced him).. And in the end, he discovers "paradise" when he finally sees his creation of V and somewhat accepts it that it's definitely a part of him. Still just my thought. Winter is Tae's favorite season and, through it all, when winter comes, he still feels warmth even in the cold because he knows he will always have his creation with him. his creation is "dark" because of all the trials and pain" he as endured. So the girl is also a part of him, his many facets of his persona. Truly a masterpiece!
Only V could pull off telling a story/make a whole movie in just 6 minutes without talking. Just using facial expressions - proves his talent as an actor. I did not think of it before, someone in another chat theorized that the two male voices are talking to each other and may even represent the two versions of V in the video. So cool!
Finally a reactor who understands the basic storyline! Love your insightful reaction. Yes! They are all sculptures. Yes V gives us art. He is an artist. This is music and storytelling weaved into one.But the twist at the end !That is a V thing
Pygmalion (Greek mythology) with a Taehyung twist. He is so creative and artistic - always makes us think. Love this song and video. Thanks for watching it with us.
Your reaction at the end 😂 just like armies around the world! 🤯😅 Theories be theorizing. Tae is just incredible. Triple threat. Give him an Oscar and a Grammy for this song and MV.
The hurted yet strong human meets his idol persona. And the statyes end up in pieces. Dreams vs reality. You dream alone and create a world. All gone when you wake up.
I've been seeing Tae and Hyo Shin would sound great together for like 4 years now... now that it has finally come to fruition I feel vindicated lmao. Their voices are sooooo complimentary.
🤣🤣🤣Amari with the food analogies again" warm like cocoa☕️" I love it.💜 I'm a lifelong Frank Sinatra fan here and I need a "Kim Taehyung" sings the Classics album and I need it now. 76 years old and I am determined to live long enough to purchase a KIM TAEHYUNG SINGS THE CLASSICS ALBUM HIs vocal tone,, timbre and range is perfect for this genre. He's mastered the "phtasing" that is an essential key for this genre. Phrasing used by all the great crooners, Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett. This is MUSIC💥BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO 👏 👏👏🎉🎉🎉KIM TAEHYUNG 💜💜💜 Let me give mad respect to his acting OMG what a natural.🙏🙏🙏 SPOT ON AMARI the Greek myth is Pygmalion.👍💜
The song is great, so warm and magical, perfect for winter time. The MV THOUGH C'MON. Give this man a role in a drama because I'm tired of getting destroyed in a 5 min MV all the time haha Honestly, this is just perfect. I'll definitely be listening to this a lot
You recalled the myth correctly ,its Pygmalion and Galatea story from Greek mythology 😊 with a beautiful twist at the end Btw this track turned out to be the biggest Jazz debut on Spotify ever 😮 more than 4.2mil filtered streams in the first 24hrs 🎉
I loved the storytelling in this MV. Tae did such a great job portraying that feeling of whimsy, melancholy, curiosity, and an intense sense of loneliness and longing. And although, I wasn't able to pinpoint what the dark!Tae would represent, I have a theory that he's supposed to be "reality" breaking through the sculpture!Tae's daydream of a place where he wasn't so alone. Thus, the longing in the song is echoed throughout the MV of this need for companionship despite being stuck in a place (whether a physical one or one's own mental prison) of isolation. This song was already a going to be a fave of mine bc I have a thing for jazzy romantic songs but this MV is now also one of my favorites too! :3 Thanks for the reaction! This was super fun as always to watch. 💜
Great take. So much thought-provoking imagery. Knowing that Tae himself was a sculpture, could the reason he was alone in that big house be that *his* own sculptor (real Tae) left him (a piece of himself) behind for a long (or longer than usual - like military service) time but missed it so much it caused sculpture-Tae to wake up?That may explain why “real Tae” walks in holding a flashlight & looking like he went through something rough. I feel like the birthday celebration is significant because he enlisted shortly before his own birthday and this would be his second one away. The themes of creating art pieces and (literally) creating virtual realities to cope with missing people are also seen in the Rainy Days and Slow Dancing MVs.
I started with the Pygmalion theory with V’s twist on it and am now ending with my other interpretation of this artistic multi layered story. I see this MV as the tensions between the real Tae and his celebrity persona V. Tae said he created the V persona for BTS group performances and that when he comes off stage he is just Kim Taehyung. In this mv we see V on the stage in the theatre and Kim Taehyung sitting on the seat as the ‘audience’. We have a sculpture brought to life living the happy life in paradise with someone he loves. The two face off at the end showing the inner tension of an artist wishing he can have a normal life. Tae’s facial expression showing the acceptance of the reality that he has to give up the paradise he wants for the sake of being V the artists. At the end, we see him outside the mansion walking on the driveway coming to a complete halt, as if he cannot go any further, which is the depiction of Tae having to leave his personal life-wishes on hold. The final scene is V in the glittery shirt depicting that V the artist will still continue as he wants to continue to express his art and Tae will put his one personal life on the back burner for now. Tae has always played with duality we know that he sees his stage persona V as the tiger and himself as the bear. I think the black ink running down his face is symbolic of him as a writer/creator of this storyline for Winter Ahead back in 2022 and then seeding all his songs afterwards with hints. We had a running theme in the Layover EP with two versions of him, the glammed up rock star in the leather and sequinned outfits (V) and Tae as the guy in ordinary clothes sitting at home lamenting about a lost relationship (Rainy Day). The album comes across as a singer having a relationship but cannot sustain it due to his job and so ending the relationship amicably as the lyrics in ‘For Us’ states one is in California and they are still waiting for each other. Again the tension between the artist and his wish for a normal life. In addition, Tae, the story teller, seeded each mv with little Easter eggs like multiple V’s in a virtual world in Slow Dancing, the two parallel lives in Fri(end)s with him having the accident with a bloody face and ending the mv facing himself (note: last mv before Winter Ahead. We also had him as a sculptor/painter in Rainy Days. Winter Ahead was filmed in 2022, and this was the time they talked about their struggles and the ‘hiatus’ so V the stage persona was coming to an end (all be it temporarily). He was also reflecting on the uncertainty of what Kim Taehyung would be facing with the release of his first album which Suga said was very Kim Taehyung (not V the bright shining star as a bts member) and also having some nerves about their enlistment and return as idols. So many layers, so many interpretations for this piece of art created by Tae. Tae really inspires critical thinking with his thought provoking art. He allows us to take his art and interpret it as we want and seeing the amount of different interpretations being made, all of them fitting the mv is a testament of a real artist. Time for big hit to stop listing V in the kpop category on platforms.
You are so intuitive!! *Here is a fellow Army’s theory, on the mv & lyrics… this does not belong to me… but I find it a very interesting theory* My theory about Winter Ahead is that it beautifully intertwines the Pygmalion myth, with a deeply personal twist. Taehyung’s character seems to live a lonely life, crafting sculptures he pretends are his companions to escape solitude. But the heartbreaking revelation is that he wasn’t just creating others-he was sculpting himself too. The sculptures are fragments of his soul and his emotions. On his birthday he dances with them and the woman he loves with but as he blows out the candles they begin to fade away. As darkness envelopes him he notices a light and someone approaching him, that's Tae himself! His tears reflect the realization, the bittersweet acceptance that he is a sculpture himself marked by the X mark under his ear. Taehyung’s artistry is pure poetry, and his storytelling leaves an ache in the heart... It's a beautiful MV and the storyline is open to many narratives and theories Bighit Music press release: "The music video for "Winter Ahead (with PARK HYO SHIN)" draws inspiration from the Greek myth of Pygmalion. V portrays a sculptor who molds and brings his ideal partner to life, together sharing moments of bliss."
Also the dark jacket and heavy footsteps may represent the darkness in the sculptor’s life, while the red jacket and whitish colors may symbolize life and lightness.
I love your reactions! I feel your personal creativity really helps you understand BTS member’s creative perspectives and intentions. One additional item to notice in the MV as noted by ARMY on twter was the flashes of a slight red hue in some of the scenes. It’s very faint but like all things BTS, it’s intention especially when in the final scenes dark V appears with dark 🩸dripping down the sides of his face. Other ARMY have noted there was a scene with a broken V sculpture on the artist’s studio floor. Could the dark V be this broken sculpture come to life? The sculpture that was rejected confronts the V sculpture that enjoys being alive even tho both versions as well as the girl and the party goers are all simply sculptures who only live in the artist’s imagination. So then I wonder if at the end, what figure in the MV is the artist himself and is he still dreaming & in existence at the conclusion of the MV? Hmm 🤔 There are countless reasons why I adore BTS and became ARMY over 6 yrs ago but two of the main ones is these multitalented artists always make my mind sharper and my heart warmer. TY for another wonderful reactions. 💜🫰🫶
omg how did i not know you also do BTS and their solo projects' videos? truly a man of TASTE 🤌Tae's music proclivities and soulful vocals and creative artistic style resonates with me so much, this video is no different i love the Greek mythology allusions and how cinematic the video is
V the sculptor created an image of himself, V the statue or the sculpture. V sculptor must be projecting his own desires to be with someone in his V statue. Or he could be a loner, seeking to live/happiness but doesn’t know how. This desire breathed life to his creation. Thus, when the V statue came to life, he also desired to be with someone and created a female statue and breathed life to her. The V sculpture lived the life, ie, going around, feeling the wind, being awed by other lives (like the butterfly), dancing, partying, celebrating, loving a girl. But that will end as he faced his creator later and realized he was not real, thus the heartbreaking sadness and acceptance in V’s eyes in the last scene. This is when you see the girl disappearing and even his face in the mirror partly turning into stone. The sculptor V is bloodied. This may represent his own brokenness, or relate to the scene where he was angry and frustrated and took such anger on his scuplture of V thus scraping that part of his face under his eye, and breaking him. It can also be theorized that when sculptor V broke the V statue, this instead gave life to the statue while the sculptor sustained the brokenness or injuries, sort of opposite effect. Or these could all just be a part of the sculptor’s dreams. Teaser 1 represents the darkness in his life. Teaser 2 is his daydream of a happier life, although it will end like any other dream, and he will go back to reality. There is both biblical and mythological elements in the storyline. This is what I think at least. Right or wrong, the MV is brilliant. It evokes many thoughts even after watching the MV, and has real depth. V’s acting is so effective. I can still feel sadness for his character seeing his expressions. V’s vocal harmony with PH is also superb and magical! V’s visual is unparalleled throughout the video. He really is Korea’s best talent and treasure!
Me voló la cabeza...él también era una creación pero parecía que se estaba apoderando? del real y éste le hace ver quién era en realidad? Wow V ees arte puro desde todos los ángulos
I agree with what you derived. There's a touch of Pygmalion. The woman, the happy Tae, the partying crowd, are sculptures. My interpretation.
