Lu Lingqi looks as strong as her father Lu Bu. I'm very wondered when I watched her in this video wielding the Lu Bu's weapon as easily as him, despite the Lu Bu's weapon is very heavy for lots of the other people.
The voices aren't the issue with most characters, it's the god awful direction....and...frequent...............pauses. That's what makes the dub so bad.
Agreed. The voice actors themselves aren't bad. In fact, while fighting, may of the voices sound really good. But it's the cutscenes that really make them sound awful.
Honestly. I just watched a dw8xl video with her, and played as her 9 counterpart, and I have to say, 9's voice actor feels like she has more power in her voice compared to 8xl' version. A much more fitting voice for the daughter of the demon.
If Koei-Tecmo ever bring's Lu Lingqi's DW8 weapon back, I hope they make it a tad more realistic by making it smaller and calling it a pinwheel instead of "cross halberd."
One of the more decent showings in 9's dub. Really, I'm convinced that the VAs themselves could do a far better job and it just came down to bad direction/rushing through things. We know that they originally planned to have the old voice cast return before switching to Voxx; and considering how from the complaints of Chinese fans that dub seems to have similar issues (poor dialogue pacing and awkward delivery), thinking Koei originally didn't plan a Chinese dub at all and then split the budget they'd set aside for the English dub, causing them both to suffer.
Yes and no. The VA on reddit said they wanted to go a slightly more feasible route with voices and match them more closely to what the novels stated (hence Zhang Fei's stupidly deep voice). Plus there was lip syncing mandates, etc. Highly doubt Koei will do this again. If FFXV can match english VA with lip syncing, so can KOEI.
I wish her ending wasn't so open, there were so many more chapters after finishing her route, that it felt so unsatisfying.....if anything it made me want more of her badassery.
I always imagined a dream scenario where all the daughters of officers joined forces against their fathers. So Ina, Xingcai, Lu Lingqi, Guan Yinping, and Sun Shangxiang fight against Honda, Zhang Fei, Lu Bu, Guan Yu, and Sun Jian.
If LuBu had a moveset like that he would be a better playable character. I feel else like they just BS his moves from previous installment. Dw4+5 had the best movement for him

His DW4 C1 attack where he impales an enemy, lifts them up, and viciously swings and sends them flying is one of my favorites, along with his DW3 C1 where he stomps the ground creating a shockwave.
Matt Robertson see you guys know the freaking way. I still have 3 3xl 4 4xl and 5. They were the best. 5 had the best outfits 3 had the best item and four had great graphics, weapons, and orbs (lightning, blast, vorpal, and fire).
her Voice sound better than the rest i heard, but i really like her voice in DW8/DW8 Xtreme legends. the missing voice actors are bad :/ but i think maybe will give the game a try since i really like DW8 XL and the Lu Bu Campaine :)
I got introduced to Lingqi during wo4. I also saw the relationship between Lu Bu and Diaochan in wo3. So my question is: is Lingqi Diaochan's daughter? I missed a lot of the dynasty games since 4 and have only just started playing 9
Voice actor strike prevented them from getting the old voice actors back so they were forced to get low budget voice actors to replace them for english. I personally prefer the Chinese dub for the that full experience I always wanted for a DW game. They may get the old voice actor back in the next game if they can recover from the Voice Actor strike.
Am I the only one who enjoyed DW9 from the perspective of story executions? Many characters have improved personality and interactions (compared to DW8). Some characters gets a proper historical-inspired ending for them (e. g. Zhang Fei's death, Jiang Wei's defeat, Zhong Hui's hinted rebellion etc. ) though a few other endings were lame. Now that DW9 gets heavy backlashes due to its alleged bugs and bad gameplays... surely Koei will have a thought of reverting DW10 to the old DW8-style gameplay. Which I would not appreciate, sorry.
I hope they stick with the open world thing and improve from that instead of reverting back to the DW8 style just to appease the whiners, because Koei has been listening way too much to the whiny fans after DW6.
Honestly, after the effort it would have taken to build the map, they're probably going to stick with it for at least 3-4 full games and just gradually improve it. The biggest issues with the games is the highly dated engine. The foundation is there now, they just need to keep tweaking.
yeah im gonna stick with dw8 for now. if they improve the open world and get actual voice actors in i'll buy 10. i think they've shot themselves in the foot with how many characters there are. the old style game needed character additions but the formula switched they need to do more to accomodate them all
It's because the original Japanese voice acting has a bunch of pauses in it. I guess it's normal for them to talk like that. It causes a bunch of problems when dubbing in English though, since they feel the need to match the voices with the mouth animations for whatever reason.

No. Just Gao Shun. Yuan Shao and Dong Zhuo's forces are not interesting enough (because Yuan Shao and Dong Zhuo are not interesting enough). We seriously just need Lu Bu's Gao Shun. Wutugu is a big Nanman guy, and DW could expand on Nanman stories if Koei really wanted to, but the Nanman characters are fictitious characters from the novel. So really, when we've already gotten to this point where we have Lu Lingqi and Chen Gong, Gao Shun is the best option. He plays the biggest/most important role in Lu Bu's forces. I would've preferred him over Chen Gong. I have a distaste for Chen Gong, because he is actually responsible for Lu Bu's death. When Cao Cao was going to try to take Xiapi, Cao Cao wrote to Lu Bu the benefits/consequences of surrender/resistance. And it was true, Cao Cao was known to spare the people who surrendered to him. So Lu Bu was greatly swayed by the letter and he thought about surrendering to Cao Cao. But Chen Gong disliked Cao Cao and basically lied to Lu Bu that Cao Cao was an evil man and that even if Lu Bu surrendered, Cao Cao would have Lu Bu killed. So Lu Bu naively acquiesced to Chen Gong. If it had not been for Chen Gong, Lu Bu wouldn't have been executed by Cao Cao.

I don't really mind the new VAs but the only think that bugs me and make me cringe are the awkward pauses they're making while delivering the lines.
It was done to sync the mouth movements, nothing more, nothing less. Someone who voiced a character for DW9 took to reddit to explain this.
