“It’s something you can do at home in the driveway” Immediately puts it on the lift.
😂😂😂
I had no idea that Jeep ever made a 2wd Wrangler.
Me neither. Weird..
Jeep has 2wd option on 4door JKs in 2007-11.
I've seen a few 4 cylinder, manual trans. 2WD Wranglers driving around.....
It should be considered a war crime
How are the front wheels now driven? I didn't see him install any drive shafts in the front? Also how would the be attached? The gearbox is almost in the middle.
You're right I can do this all in the driveway with a Harbor Freight Jack and some jack stands
Right ! AND save all that money by buying the 2wd version and then get sponsors to send you free stuff to make it 4wd.
Had no idea they made these, that front dead beam axle could be used for a more modernized gasser project.
i don’t remember how i found this channel but i’ve been watching it ever since
Put a Hemi in it and make it a pre runner, that’s sounds like a lot of fun.
They make IFS kits - that’s a great idea! It would look killer too, you might be onto something here…
Converted mine this January had to figure this all out🤣
FWIW even the old mail Jeeps, "Dispatch Jeeps" (DJs) were CJs with 2wd. Only a few areas got 4wd DJs.
I have a factory 1955 Jeep DJ3A which was the first year for the DJ. Its very rare as well as interesting.
Antiseize is not optional, it is recommended!
I’m doing mine now. Best way to make major upgrades. Got a Rubi transfer case and 1-ton Axles. Mine is a 6-speed and I don’t have to change the rear transmission housing.
Really. The rubicon t case bolts right up?
Great vid!!!!!!!!!! 👍👍👍
I knew the Cherokee was available in 2wd but I didn’t realize that was even an option for wranglers
Awesome video!!!!
Saw a guy with 38s on a two wheel drive Jeep. 😂
Truly a mall crawler, because that's all it can be
They make 2wd jeep wranglers? I didn't even know that was a thing...why is it a thing?
Same here
How many people are out there driving their Wrangler thinking it has 4wd, but it doesn't.
Same here, didn't know they made 2wd wranglers.
I saw a 2 wheels drive Jeep that the guy had lifted and put 38s under 😂 😂 😂 whyyyyy. He literally got stuck going up the main dirt road to the wheeling trail lolololololol I stopped and offered him help but he said he was waiting for his friend. I chatted with him for a few mins and apparently he was from the city and bought the Jeep without knowing anything about Jeep’s... or 4 wheel drives. 😂 he later wanted to get into “off roading” so he lifted his Jeep and decided to head to the mountains. Poor guy didn’t even make it to the darn trail. Lol
A 2WD Wrangler is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. Cherokee's I get, Wrangler's though? That's just dumb.
i got one and love it!
Needed to beef it up, buys fix shocks. Used track bar relocation bracket
So how much did you save? I think you said you added a little more stuff that makes it better than factory so did that still save you money?
I have a 2wd 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I'm wanting to obviously convert it to 4wd and do a 5.7 Hemi swap. My question is which should I do 1st? If I do just the conversion am I going to have to buy new parts for the Hemi swap or would it be better to just buy a Hemi with a 4wd transmission setup?
One thing that amazes me is that the inside bead rarely unseats, especially when there is a bead lock only on the outside. I'm surprised they don't put bead locks on the inside and outside so the tire NEVER unseats.
there is a reason that washer was so big for the body mount. if the rubber failed the washer would keep the body from lifting off the frame entirely, that washer would catch on the bracket.
If doing a project like this, what issues are there with the electrics and lockers ??
Thx
Wow that NP241 transfer case looked very light . And light doesnt give much of a
" Strength " impression .
Actually, the NP241 was put in Cummins-powered Dodges for a while. I thought the same thing but they're surprisingly robust.
Around how much was this upgrade total? Do you have a shop in the states? I would love to take my 4x2 Jk to your shop from Mexico..
Question: just bought a 2wd and want to have this as a project. I need a front axle, drive shaft, tranny transfer case. Anything I am missing?
Is it the same process for a 2007 jk with a manual transmission?
Mail carriers use 2WD Jeeps, right hand drive of course.
Wow 👍🏻
I’m doing same thing. Paid 7k for a mint 2007 4door. Going w used stock parts so super cheap.
Everyone asking why Jeep makes 2wd Wranglers. How many mall crawler 4dr JKs do you see going offroad? Hell how many of their owners even know how to operate 4wd? That's probably Jeep's intended customer for the 2wd JK. All show and no go. Which also explains why they only made the 2wd models in 4dr versions.
They are clearly not Jeep people! That "coin tray" IS the factory 4x4 shift location. Manufacturing just made a separate mold that fills the normal opening with plastic.
You mean Jeep "Geeks"
So when all said and done how much did you "spend" on this project?
One problem with the wheels and tires. Some states don’t allow bead lock wheels to be used on public roads
No state allows bead lock wheels to be used on roadways. They are not DOT approved due to the fact that it is a two piece wheel.
Let the Key Board Commandos fire away...😂😂😂
5:21 so in order to convert, I’d need to purchase this as well
I have a 2003 ford ranger 2wd i see in this video he didn't to swap the 2wd transmission in for a 4wd transmission
Can somebody tell me can i use a 4wd extension housing on my 2wd transmission looks like he just swapped them is that possible with ford ranger 🤔
What axle was used up front? Why wasn't the conversion completed?
They ended up with a Dana 44 I think.
What ever happened with the finished and did it work? Didn’t you have to up date the computer?
Just wanted to know what went into the build and it's very awesome not as hard as I thought it could be, just need a Lift to make it easier to do and the two wheel drive van and make it four wheel drive oh ya
And a lot of money lol
Personally, if I had to deal with a 2WD Jeep (which is nowhere near as "awful" as everybody keeps bitching about- it's still a Jeep), I would go with more of a pre-runner type build. Just beef up what's already there.
A jeep is supposed an off road vehicle, you remove the 4 wheel drive, you are left with just, a vehicle, one that isn't that fun to drive on road.
Really suprised the number of people who didn’t realize the JK had a 2WD version. Obviously for mail us, but not just for them. Was offered in the early JKU models only, a lot of debate on whither 4WD was an option or standard at that time. I wouldn’t call this a rare spec by any means, just very uncommon. It’s actually more rare to come across the very early JKs that had the Dana35 rear end than a 2WD JKU. Oh, fun fact in 2021 you can still order a wrangler without factory A/C
The whole reason the mail people needed a jeep is for rough roads, having 2WD defeats the purpose.
Why would you use a bds lift with jks parts, instead of actually going to jks? They’re both owned by fox.
See alot of 2wd wranglers in Hawaii.
Nearly all of the jeep rentals are 2wd.
I need to do this for my jeep. Who do i contact. How much?!
Being honest...of all the cars you've put a 3rd gen Hemi and handling upgrades on, this would've been the funniest. Keep it looking stock as possible and go out hunting some unsuspecting victims...😈
2wd jeeps must be rare now, maybe for mail carriers?
Not sure. I just purchased a 2wd
Personally, I would have swapped out that 42rle for something more reliable.
@Rob R if it’s the same transmission the ,42 rle, that they used on 07-11 wranglers , I got 165,000 miles on my 3.8 sport automatic, never changed the atf and it’s pretty solid even handling the 35 inch tires and 4.56 gears, highway speeds up to 80 only thing in my opinion is down shifting and redlining
@@juanmartinez-xk3nu I'm glad you've had good luck with yours but I've personally had a horrible experience with one of my previous jeeps that had the 42rle.
how much would it cost me to have yall do this
This dude looks like if captain America and joe Rogan had a love child
Truck it’s a bloody jeep
Did this to an 88 Comanche 17 years ago. 🤷♂️
At home in the driveway with your lift
Powerstop sucks, I dealt with their bs 7 years ago. Zinc coating comes off first brake cycle and the quality is shit between Chinese metal and rotor inconsitancy. Imagine cutting a brand new drilled and slotted, diamond bit? Why...... Go with an oem rotor with a good pad, ebc maybe since these guys always recommended them.
Some wranglers owners go there whole life’s never even putting there wrangler in 4wd. Might as well just buy this model
Hey powernarion, any chance you could add the original air date of each episode in the description please?
98% of Jeep owners never take it off-road
Sad 😔
So y’all wanna do this on my Silverado?😂
Who would want a two wheel drive Jeep? The Post Office.
Makes a great pavement princess
So, these vids are fun but I often dont see the results of products you start but dont show the viewer the finish.
I mean, I often don't see the finished product of your projects.
Interested in that 2wd axle. Let me know what you want for it.
Its been in the scrap bin for over a year by now probably
Instead of planting trees, every American needs to find a 2WD Jeep and make it 4x4
Just leave one 2WD to show the future how stupid companies can be
“Bought the 2wd version and saved some money” then spend more overall making it 4wd.
They from the states so that’s expected overkill and waste.
I think the concept is sound though... Buy a 2x4 Jeep cheap, then pick up some parts from a wrecked 4x4, make the conversion and get a huge increase in value.
The parts needed for this are readily avaliable and cheap from Salvage yards or part outs people are doing. It would be prerry cheap.
You forget labor isn’t really a factor for them
But cheaper than buying 4wd then upgrading existing equipment.
2005 Dodge Durango SLT.
They made 2wd wranglers…..lol. Was it trail rates too…..lol
I'll paint any car for only $99.95.
So what is the total cost of this project? Drop in the 427 yall built the other day and you'll have the ultimate Jeep.
WTF a 2wd jeep....now that's a head scratcher
That's an 07 with the 3.8 V6. That thing will be a gutless pig with those huge tires.
What about a 4 wheel drive into a 2 wheel drive
i really want to make my camaro SS a 4wd but i heard its impossible
Man you guys know how to rehash old shows
But why?
Aren’t mail Jeep’s 2wd ?
Your first problem, you bought a 2 wheel drive
Why would you do this? Is it cheaper then buying a 4wd model?
It is when sponsors send you free parts to complete the conversion. No normal person would buy a 2wd Jeep and convert it to 4wd to 'save money'.
If you didn't know that Jeep made a 2wd, then you're probably not a Jeep fan. From 07-10 the Unlimited (4 door for the non Jeep reader) could be bought in 2wd. It could be found as a Sahara, but mainly as an X (which was the bottom model). This one clearly is an X by looking at the front quarter sticker, crappy wheels, no Trail Rated badge, and no fog lights. Yeah, just buy a proper Jeep! Things are cheaper when sponsored and wholesale priced.
Dont know why all the comments are hating on 2wd jeep......... i have one and use it just to city drive on hot days with no doors or roof....... nice vehicles
@@jeffsmith8842 exactly. I’m a young teen and only issue I mainly have is death wobble. Great on dirt roads. And just a nice suv to have. Safety, reliably. Not everyone wants to beat up there jeep.
That era of Wranglers were interesting, but I'll take my 79 CJ5 over them any day! Yeah, I know, leaf vs coil springs yadda yadda lol. I still like the CJ series best. Can't wait to get mine back up and running when the weather cools
Power stop products are crap they sent me rotors that were warped out of the box they would not refund the price luckily the retailer did. My front pads shims fell off after 6 months they did replace the pads but I don’t see a major gain in using their system.
They have THE absolute worst customer service and order fulfilment of any company I have ever dealt with.
Sent me calipers in the wrong color 3x, and I eventually just had to roll with it. SMDH
Have you ever tried EBC stuff? I see they claim their products are made in North America depending on which products Canadian or US stuff
Who else shut off the video as soon as they saw it was an automatic?
So you are tell us that all that you are doing to make this 4X2 Jeep into a 4X4 is cheaper than buying a used 4X4. I'm not buying what you are selling.
What isbthe point of making a jeep in 2wd?
Why are you taking like that
😁✌🖖👍👌😎
I own a 2wd wrangler my feelings are hurt
Boa tarde congrats vai amém bom
save 2k on 2wd spend 3k on 4wd conversion no one else can do because they dont have the lift sponsors etc
Guess you rather spend $5,000
They should mention the costs? I guess the jeep was 5k cheaper then they spent 8k for parts but at least they got proper offroader
All these parts are readily avaliable in Junkyards and part outs. Wouldn't cost anywhere near 8 grand.
Its not a trail ready Jeep with that weak rear end.
Eight grand, nowhere near if you can do it yourself~
@@bmstylee looked like the standard JK D44 to me. At least its not a D35C.
If you don't have a torque wrench, you shouldn't be doing anything like that. Manufacturer torque specs are vital
Yeah right you can't do this in your driveway unless it has a lift and a fully equipped shop 😂. They also must have tested everything to make sure the videos perfect so they probably done the job to three times 😆
I have done more involved jobs than this in my driveway.
They're not even removing the transmission, just a transfer case. It's all very doable in a driveway. All you might want is a transmission jack...
This is a reguarly done conversion on 2wd XJs in people's driveways. And the JK is simpler since a transmission swap or output shaft swap isnt even needed.
Jack, stands, and a decent tool box is all you need. Poors always complain like this.
@@bmstylee Not that I'd be rich for fixing my own crap in the driveway 😂
It's dumb to complain that a TV show has all the nice tools and a shop to do work in...
Wat i never knew their were 2wd jeep wrangler or any of that type
and the bare metal on frame wont rust right lol
Hmmm….why not just buy a 4wd?
I had no idea a 2wd Wrangler even existed. Pointless in my opinion
these shows have become nothing but crap over the years, and completely on worth watching.
Drop pitman arms are garbage
Wtf are “long arms” I always called em radius arms.
A 4 link setup isn't the same as a radius arm setup.
This is a 4 link setup like what the Jeep had but the control arms are longer than stock, hence "long arm"
So you'll leave the shitty trans in there and then tried to make it like a semi tans, I used to really like these shows when it was Edelbrock tv, but now it's let's strap a carb to a fuel injected engines and not do a 4wd system the right way. It's like you guys don't want to take a step forward.
Ryan....most people would be happy to have a 2wd Jeep
GET OFF YOUR AUTOMOTIVE HIGH HORSE
2wd Wrangler?
What was it a mail jeep? 2wd jeep. Sacriledge.
