What is periodic assessment? Why it is running every time when customer manager schedule runs ?

Periodic assessment is something that check for any latest updates available and no need of performing the assessment manually every time.

thanks so much for the video, now that the Azure Update Manger is Generally available, what if we have production environment where new VM's will be added regularly, do we have an option to automatically add the VM for checking the updates, schedule/adding it to the maintenance configuration, is there any automation we can achieve without manual intervention,

Patching individual vms in azure is as easy as falling down, what no one covers is managing at scale with 100s of vms with dozens of maintenance schedules

Thank you for your valuable feedback! I would say the concept is same for even adding multiple VMs with multiple maintenance configuration schedule it depends upon the requirement.

Plz explain; For the same patch, why one machine doesn;t require reboot where as other machine rebooted.

Actually both are not same patch as you can see it under the "update name" and also the "Classification" is different. Hope this answers your question as to why the other VM got rebooted.

If I have an installation of Exchange 2016 on my VM (not in use anymore). We're about to phase it out, but when there is a security update for exchange server we would ofcourse want to install that. Will it automatically install security patches for that or will I need to do this manually? Thank you for your response! Have a blessed day.

If you are using update management center for patching this server then you have option to schedule recurring or one time update whichever is the method you need to select what are all the updates you need to apply like only critical, security or all so based on that selection updates will be applied to the server. Hope this answers your question.

What if we don't want to repeat the schedule as we are not sure about next patching date it might change in future and if forget to change the schedule it can patch the vm automatically.

There is option to run it for one time if you don’t want to schedule it and it will be manual method.
