Harsh Vardhan Shringla speaks at Podcast with Pratim. Pls find excerpts below:
    1) 0-5mnts: Working for the PM post-retirement. Did not join BJP formally. Reaching out to common people through Darjeeling Welfare Society (2014). Darjeeling is his native place.
    2) 5-7 mnt: Darjeeling and the Siliguri Corridor area are “strategic.” Development initiatives suffer due to gaps in centre-state coordination. “People are restive.” (Note: Should be read in accordance with the proposal to make it a union territory)
    3) 7-13.30 mnt: Unravelling of the world order will continue. India wants a multipolar world with it being one of the poles. India surpassed all expectations under Modi and are facing resistance both from outside and inside but ready to move on.
    4) 13.30 - 19mnt: Remarkable achievements in India-US. US companies started investing heavily in India. The ties reached a stage where it will remain unaffected to change in governments. Indo-Pacific and QUAD are very important to the USA and the cooperation will increase.
    5) 19-23 mnt: India is committed to ensure security of maritime trade through the Gulf of Aden and Suez. “India’s role in providing maritime security will rise in the western Indian ocean and perhaps even in the eastern Indian ocean. We have to display more robust participation in global security.”
    6) 25-32.30 mnt: Neighbourhood First vis-à-vis China. 50% of Indian line of credit is directed to the neighbourhood. Region got preference in vaccine distribution, exempted from recent ban on Onion exports. Trade facilitation giving dividends. Electricity cooperation with Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh will flourish. Under-sea electricity cable to SL can bring long term stability to the island nation. Ties are too strong to be disturbed by Boycott India campaigns (Bangladesh and Maldives).
    7) 32.30-37mnt: (Bangladesh, non-implementation of Indian projects, Shiekh Hasina’s scheduled visit and possibility of fresh Indian credit or bailout.) Every country has credit absorption capacity. It applies to Chinese credit. India-BD relation is in a satisfactory stage and must move forward in every aspect including the line of credit.
