Wow, I love the basic symplicity of this master instructor ! he's not just talkin martial arts, he's talkin about (martial science) and how it all comes together as one ! poly rhythmic movements, hair trigger reactions and knowing body positioning. Thankz for posting this video my brother !
This guy gets it, I'm no martial arts expert, but you can just tell when someone actually understands the real physics behind something and then explains it in such a way. It actually makes a lot of demos I've seen make more sense now, and proves a lot of others I've seen as being complete bullshit.
Excellent vid. All the comments re 'this looks like WC, JKD, Krav Maga' etc - what they all have in common is a preference for combining a strike and a parry in a single technique then flowing into further strikes without retracting the arms. Where many of these discussions go south is when someone points out that a really good boxer wouldn't move like that - great, but the instructor is *demonstrating a principle* not trying to cover the worst case scenario. I might live a sheltered life, but I've never been attacked or threatened by a serious martial artist despite growing up on the streets of Sydney and retiring to the birthplace of Muay Thai. Not once in 55 years- YMMV. Drunk footballers are a completely different animal but that's far more likely to be your opposition on the street than anyone who is seriously pursuing a boxing career of any description, at least IME. Situational awareness and the willingness to walk away when you hear voices being raised are every bit as important as any technique you'll see on YT - avoid bars full of young guys getting hammered or be prepared to go wherever that path takes you. Peace out.
So true. I once attended a martial arts demo by a Japanese Jui-Jitsu practitioner and he described his techniques as "marrying" your opponent. Meaning you want to get up close and personnel for it to be the most effective. I thought what was shown here was of high quality. I especially liked the part of using the hand effectively due to location and the multiple hits at once.
There is a DEFINITE connection between the Moors and silat and Kali. That is why the Filipinos still refer to Kali / Escrima as Moro-Moro, according to Guro Dan Inosanto, a revered and master-level practitioner of Kali and Silat.
Brother Abeegunde, the priciples and techniques you teach are right on! Keep providing this information to the people, it is an uplift to the people in the Community that truly want to learn, and are sincere about the Arts. As a student of the Arts, I appreciate your teachings!
It would take more than one strike to send me on to the Great Beyond, however he IS a big, strong brother and quite skilled now. We are blessed to have him on OUR side! LOL!
Bwahaha. "Oh snap!" Lightning quick crane wing into turtle elbow to head bridged block. "Polyrythmic application" I like that. This is some really good shit man I like how you explain.
You're a very good teacher. I am also curious about the history of your art. Adendum. I found your web site and read the history Kewl. I live in Atlanta
I aree with Aghori Tantra, and I am looking forward to more from the master of his art. Bruce Lee Said Take what is useful and use it throw the rest out.I am trying to gain as much knowledge as I can from anyone I can so I will have a Better arsenal at my disposal. Thanks For, The Video, but does The Art have a Name or is Afrkan martial arts the name/ Gun,Knife, and Combatives, D. Neal Linville
All of these moves look great! However, I wish that some of them can be demonstrated against a resisting opponent. Street dudes and trained fighters tend to throw punches in bunches, grapple etc. Of course, you cant poke an eye out for demonstration purposes. Put on some gloves and show us against someone who is fighting back.
im not the one who posted that comment but the pangea theory is that all the earths continents were one big continent called pangea before drifts carried them apart
This is interesting, I've been watching your videos and actually studying these arts and styles myself, I live in louisiana, are there any afrikan MA schools down here? im from baton rouge
Also when the attacker clinches you up. You can re-post on their hips with your hands or put them in neutral clinch (which is when your shoulder to shoulder.) and pull them into yours. great video man.
Trying to combine combat moves from the different six continents and call "Pangea Combatives". I tried to combine Capoeria, with Silat and Bagua. But I forgot that martial arts can take a life time to learn.
He's fighting as a lefty? most attackers are right handed. the teacher is a righty. that also makes a difference. What I do like about this video is that the attacker is using western style boxing and that's realistic. most kung fu videos us these weird punches that we don't use. this was cool.
I'm not a martial artist myself. I've watched a lot of it, but I'm not actually trained in any style. So anything I say is with a sort of "this is how it seems to me, or am I all wet?" included. This looks to be as practical and, to put it bluntly, as cool as the Asian techniques I'm used to seeing. But there's a difference. This looks, I'm not sure how to put it... closer. Less at arm's or leg's length but right inside a person's space. It's interesting.
I find the similarity between Afrikan Martial arts is extremely Uncanny and should really prove the thick diffusion of cultures between the two places.
Sir I need you to bring your ass to Philly and train me asap! LOL. You're vids are very educational and practical, I can only imagine if I was your student. I'd whoop Batman and Superman's ass. i'd whoop batman with superman
In actuality this is not different at all from the techniques and principles of Asian martial arts. Many demonstrations of the arts show techniques from arms or legs length distance, mostly so that they are easily visible, however in actuality hand to hand combat is conducted from very close range as this demonstrator shows. These techniques are identical to asian techniques i have seen. I hold instructor's rank in several asian combat arts and have used them if you wonder about my bona fides.
yes this is so true but a lot of info been lost as we now know the north Africans ware sea travellers and traders and raiders they got all over the place way before the crusades times
"Action is always faster than reaction" Well said My Brother. I will pass this wisdom. Thank you for sharing. Warrior Shabazz

It would take more than one strike to send me on to the Great Beyond, however he IS a big, strong brother and quite skilled now. We are blessed to have him on OUR side! LOL!
Excellent work...I like the explanation behind the technique
Bwahaha. "Oh snap!" Lightning quick crane wing into turtle elbow to head bridged block.
"Polyrythmic application" I like that.
This is some really good shit man I like how you explain.
very good explanation, well done. This makes real sense. Thanks.
Good teacher thanks for your techniques!!.. Very appreciate!!!!
Refreshing, I like it.
i like the way you explain things,it makes total sense. thank you! subbed
You're a very good teacher. I am also curious about the history of your art.
Adendum. I found your web site and read the history Kewl. I live in Atlanta
you are a very very good martial arts teacher. I appreciate your knowledge. .
this seems a lot like wing chun except it doesn't obsess about the centreline theory
I like how you worked off the cover, I haven't seen it used like the that. I like that 2nd block concept.
Very nice video. All the best from your Wing Chun brothers in Chicago. -Dominick Izzo
Good vids brother, good to see a natural approach to the martial arts.
Nice initial point about speed...well said and demonstrated
Why i spend my Money for mma school.. This is much better
Interesting! All though I never heard of Afrikan Martial Arts. Reminds me of Wing Chun.
Nice! A lot of people should view this.
amazing it looks kinda similar to Krav Maga in a way. very excited to see and learn more
Can you please elaborate on the Pangea theory?
I aree with Aghori Tantra, and I am looking forward to more from the master of his art.

Gun,Knife,and Combatives,
D. Neal Linville
This Moors technique is sick. V-arnis in its style. Wing chun in some areas. Closes or bridges that gap early. Very technical.

amazing video
Huge Respect :-)
Very good video.
The concepts he speaks of are fluent in alot of martial arts i guess years of violence will make a person cone to the same conclusion.
Thank you!

Yes, it is.

I love this guy....

Awesome!

Very good
moors were africans and some people say that there is a connection between them and silat
That's a big dude! Speed better be on point cuz if he lands one on you, you're gonna be having an African funeral.
How can I train remotely, what style is close, if I do adkio is that better than nothing
I find the similarity between Afrikan Martial arts is extremely Uncanny and should really prove the thick diffusion of cultures between the two places.
Any of these guys in DC?
