Brough Park Fields Walkabout, Near Leek in the Staffordshire Moorlands District. Friday, 23rd August, 2024.
Brough Park Fields is a site of open meadows and woodland at the back of Brough Park in the centre of Leek.
The site consists of meadows and young woodland. These trees are not dense enough to support any major wildlife, however, the park does act as a gateway to Abbey Woods and Tittesworth Reservoir.

My take on the walkabout on the day...
Well, after having some doubts initially that I wasn't going to find anything like a nature reserve, I did eventually find my way to Brough Park Fields, and what a pleasant surprise it was.
Entrance pathways were really clear and clean from where I started from. Even treking through the woodland was really dry at this time of the year which eventually led to beautiful open meadows surrounded by sparsely populated small trees.
Very pleasing walkabout which I quite easily managed in most parts with Millie on her extedner lead whilst trying to get to grips using the gimbal in my other hand. Got some really nice shots of the woodland and surrounding meadows.
It's a solid 8 out of 10 from me. Possibly a 8.5 to 9 if I'd have visited earlier in the year to hear more songbirds and see the vibrant colours of an assortment of newly blossomed spring meadow flowers.
*NOTE TO MYSELF. Definitely make the effort to do this same walk early spring next year!
