Thank you all SO much for this amazing series! Being a kid in the 80s, I have a special place in my heart for The Dark Crystal, albeit one filled with quite a few nightmares as a child! ;) I was hyped for the release of Age Of Resistance, and counted down the days to release - definitely not disappointed, it's an actual masterpiece (as so many have said) and I'm only 4 episodes in. Not sure what the season finale will bring, but I hope it's a stinger for a second season...much love to all involved! x

I was genuinely afraid a movie that was sacred to me was going to get tainted, and in the end, I was reduced to tears at just how lovingly this was. An absolute staggering work of art in every sense, and possibly best sequel/prequel/reboot ever made, hands down. Henson lives on and always will. Thank you to all who made this, you are appreciated!

It's a show not a movie
I'm only 16, and can't remember ever watching the original movie, only seeing a few scenes when my uncle watched it. But I had watched a video from TheOdd1sOut about his memory and experience with the movie, and heard about the new series through another video about the Dark Crystal, and I have to say, I am not disappointed. I genuinely love this series, and am so excited for another season (hopefully). This is probably one of my favourite shows, and my second favourite Jim Henson shows (favourite being Fraggle Rock, which my mum had a bunch of episodes of that I found and watched as a kid. It was the show I would watch while sick at home. Main reason I love it is probably just nostalgia.)

When you cry with the characters and feel their losses you know the creators did their job flawlessly and when you forget that you are watching puppets and they seem so lifelike that you believe that they are real it’s more than incredible!!!
I am ASTONISHED that Lore was a puppet!!!! I was convinced that was CGI WOW........JUST WOW.

I'm in love with Age of Resistance. It's perfect in every way and I don't want to watch the last episode because then I have to wait until (hopefully) the next season.

I had no clue about the history of Age of Resistance; so when I saw the trailer I was like meh skip but on an odd night trying to get some sleep I watched its first episode (I thought it will bore me to sleep), but after some time I realized that sun has risen and I have watched the whole season lolz, Age of Resistance is a commendable creation indeed.
Ahah the film is like a direct follow up of the episodes if you want more of this universe...

The fact that they were willing take the leap & bring people back into this world is wonderful. What they’ve created here is something that will last forever because it’s something that people like me (who are in their 30’s) remember watching as a child & still have fond memories for as adults. My only regret is not being able to be a part of this world, somehow. But since they left the door wide open for a season 2 (or more), maybe I’ll get my chance!
“The Dark Crystal”, “Labyrinth” & “The NeverEnding Story” are the three films that I can proudly say shaped who I am today & make me fall in love with magic, epic stories & puppets.

Did anyone else notice the Skeksis tongues were added in digitally? 😳
Yup, and very well, only given away by the occasionally OTT motion. Also, the wheel creatures, some flying creatures, some long shots of the main characters with legs, climbing Lor, the spider creatures or Landstriders when running, and the Gobblers gobbling. It all looked absolutely perfect and worked fine, but any slightly OTT key frame animation always reveals it.
Looking at the puppets talk with and without the tongues, I think the CGI tongues add a lot of character snd movement to the puppets. They make them look more like living creatures.
i actually only came here to find out how they did the tongues! (seriously)

The amount of work... especially the puppetry. This is like The Henson family's love letter to use, written in the past and expressed in the present. This is straight up art, and I loved every hour long episode of it

I really do appreciate all the hard work that went into making this series what it is. It's a beautiful masterpiece that hopefully gets a second season. I loved watching every single second of it. I am loving how much effort is put into Old Fashioned Jim Henson Style Practical Puppetering. More movies and tv series need to desperately need to go back to practical effects.
I love how they used computer effects to make use of other kinds of puppetry. It's combining the new and the old
Hollywood is constantly bringing back old classics for a modern look. STAR WARS, Terminator, Robocop.
But they never bring back the old classic effects and techniques. Glad The Henson Company still has it

As a human without proper equipment - it will likely be the wery painful and very short experience.
Thra seem to be actually very hostile biosphere-wise. Not to mention, that every specie, excluding urSkek-derived ones, are the overt arthropods. That includes gelflings, yes.
Simon Peggs voice acting was phenomenal.

A very good friend of mine worked on the Skeksis in the molding dept. at the Henson L.A. workshop, she was so very very excited to do so. She says that Frouds wife referred to all the women as Gelflings or Fae of some sort all the time.

To the small town of over 2,500 people who created this masterpiece I say "thank you from the bottom of my heart." The child in me surfaced once more. A side of my imagination was ignited that had not been set aflame for such a long time its hard to imagine how I have not noticed its absence over the years. Truly I am grateful and I hope there is more to come. Jim Henson is crying from joy and pride in Heaven.
All the degenerate shit netflix spews out, they decide to destroy, one of the best sci fi/fantasy series ever made, a true labour of love.
can we talk about the puppet-making process? THIRTEEN. _THOUSAND._ *_HOURS._* just for 3D printing. and 2.5 million hairs for each puppet. that is INSANE. props to the crew.

Now that sets and puppets are mostly built, woudnt the cost for a second season be much lower and less time and material efficient.

I remember when Jim Henson said his design choice was that the bigger puppets will be detailed and the small ones will look like muppets I think Frank Oz was also in that interview
You can really see that in the show. The Skeksis were also beautiful, but bere they look so real it's scary! While the Podlings look like muppets
At first I thought Chamberlain was the original voice actor but older accounting for the bit of a lower voice. Pegg nailed it and caused me to look up everywhere just to confirm it because I didn't believe the credits or IMDB it was him at first.

I'm very sure that Jim Henson would not only be quite happy, pleased and extremely proud of what has become of his most awe inspiring vision this jaw dropping portrayal
of a backstory
to
one of his biggest cult classic hit movies. I wish he was still alive to be able to see how much his influence and artistic genius has motivated people to give
a tale of his not just more importance, but an elaboration of what he started with the movie
and now has been give a new story to add to that one and to give a more thorough explanation of things came to be in the original story.

Unfortunately despite being one of netflix' top series its ot getting renewed for season 2. It boggles the mind that they cancael quality shows and then release a bunch of B grade crap series and movies. Netflix as a serious issue with cancelling excellent shows.
