Lisa Lisa & The Cult Jam in the legendary Clivilles & Cole remix, which was a huge club anthem in Europe and the US .. released by Columbia Records in 1991
At the time, when i heard this starting in the club, i would drop anything i was doing and went eyes closed & hands up in the air. Classic!!
Yep me too... Banging tune
Unbelievable tune
me too
Hilarious, I can imagine u will still be doing that in ur 80's if it come on again... Pmsl xxx
Eliza Rose has just released a fruity little version of this now, titled BOTA. I absolutely love it and do exactly as you did at any chance I catch the tune playing on the radio or at a festival 🙌🏼 I knew I’d heard the sample somewhere before, hence searching it out here and seeing your comment 👍🏻
There were like 278 different mixes of this song.
This hands down....the legendariest!😂
I'm surprised this hasn't been used in a target ad..
My classic Leeds gallery choooooon, still listening in 2023 at nearly 50, so many memories still feel like a teenager 🎉😁😍
Aye, BiG Gallery tune, probably played by Steve Luigi. The Gallery doesn't get talked about in the same way as Ark, Kaos or Orbit does. But on a good night it was the best night in West Yorks and up there with the best in the country.
Are you Rachel Davies in HK now???
If so! No wayyy! It’s Didi here living the same choon
If there`s one tune that opens the floodgates of 90`s memories..
Whos still listening on 2023 what a anthem
I am...reminiscing on this Saturday night in San Antonio..
We will never stop listening to this genre, although the club versions of this tune that are speeded up and have more beats per minute make it even better.
Try the Sheryl Jay Let The Beat Hit 'Em (Big Beat Mix) version of the tune.
Still here in 2024 🙏🏽 one of my most favorite tunes ❤❤❤
I was a rave monster from the early days of 88 but this is and always was the best vibe and feeling in any club back in the early 90s.
If they played this you knew you were in the right venue
This intro makes me super weak in the knees... much more so 30 years later 🎉 Thank you Lisa Lisa, for an AMAZING SONG ❤❤❤ pure perfection
Just had to dance to this, no matter where I was, cars passing in the street, shopping bag's on the floor 😂 absolute class ❤️❤️❤️
Absolute tune in the north of England around 1991. Well it was for me anyway. Happy days.
still a hit in CapeTown clubs even my 3year old son likes this jam
And in Johannesburg
Best mix of this song bar none... Had some of the best nights out when this got played
The best version!! Showcases Lisa strong vocals!
Yep, this is the one. Leeds Warehouse 1991. What a summer!
What’ a track. Reminds me of my days at the Palladium , DURBAN. ❤️
reminds me of my parents house parties in the 90's. best times of my childhood. probably best of theirs too!
Wonderful! Sweet bitter memories of 80s...pretty nostalgic...
There is two essentially two versions of this track. The original which is a bit hip hop inspired and is a pretty damn good tune. Then there is this edit which is an absolute beast of a track. Went mental to this as a youngster. Sounds slow now though compared to modern dance. The two versions sound completely different you would be hard pushed to thinj it was the same track.
Shena - Let The Beat Hit Em ??
OR (My personal favorite) Sounddesign - Happinnes ??

Robert Cole's early passing in 1995 left such a huge void in the dance scene. He gave all queens so much joy and passion. R.I.P. Dave, we love you forever and a day.

2022.... Im here
Back in the day, wow, saying that sounds like it was a long time ago, shit, it was long ago!!!!! What a tune, still works in my books. Imagine if this was dropped in today's clubs!?!?!?
+Stephen Hardie One of my all time favourite memories was Graeme Park playing this one Saturday night at the Hacienda and everyone in the crowd clapping along. Then when the lights came on at the end and everyone had to leave a few people started chanting the 'ba - da -da -dum- da -dum' bit until the whole club joined in and off went a few hundred people walking down the street together singing.
I sometimes nearly well up with tears when I realise I probably won't experience another night like that again in my life, they really were halcyon days and it's totally, utterly, undeniably shit getting old. At least I was lucky enough to be just the right age, with the right group of friends and in the right place to experience everything we did between 1988-91, mostly in the north of England.
If only I had the photos or video to prove hundreds of people were dancing to a few cranked up car stereos all across the car park of a service station [including the roof of a low building] on the M62 motorway between MCR and Leeds in 1989 at about 5am as dawn broke one warm summer night. The look of total bemusement on those coppers faces when they turned up to see what was going on was something I really wish I'd captured for posterity.
I should really write a book about our escapades, younger people of today wouldn't believe most of it though, they were far more innocent times in lots of ways and you just couldn't get away with half of what we did back then in 2016 without probably ending up in jail.
Take me back to the 90s 😬
Take me back with you..ditch the cellphones just before..
I'M GAGGING🎉THIS SONG SENDS ME STILL!
Got this bad boy on 12" white label. This used to do some serious damage on the dance floor.

That (B.O.T.A.) was the track that sent ME back on the same journey through the tunes many iterations too, it is one of those tunes that once you heard it back in the day you just knew the melody would live in you forever!

Not a fan of the lyrics on bota, only the tune carries the song, which of course is sampled to begin with lol
Not me as I lived to listen to.the original
Yeah but I have to confess I had to look up the name of the tune. Recognised it from BOTA but just couldn't remember what it was from.
