Even in mesh networks one unit acts as primary and deals with all of the network traffic but they have the same SSID. Any comments on CUDY mesh units? Are they reliable?

That's why you don't have to worry about reconnecting to new SSID. And yes, CUDY mesh units are doing pretty good in budget range.
