Very insightful khutba. I always thought that being Muslim is to be saying shahadah and striving to fulfilling the commandments of Allah swt. However, being Momin is something to do with heart and also as Imaan keeps fluctuating so its for Allah swt to know who is momin and/or who is a better momin. Even in Quran it’s the Allah swt who tells that they are just muslims and not yet momin. It’s more to do with the purification of hearts. Same as in case of hyporcrits, Allah swt is the one who knows the best who is a hypocrite as it’s a condition of heart.
    Allah swt knows best.

Sheikh Yasir looks great with thobe and Prayer cap! I wish he always wears this in the masjid... though it's not a compulsary thing.

The sunnah is to dress like your people. The Prophet (saws) and companions didn't dress different than their own people. They didn't introduce a new dress. How do our people dress today in the world? The sunnah - YQ would argue - is to dress with shirt/pant as long as you're within the guidelines set by Islam for dress code. YQ discussed this in one of his QA.

@@uponsunnah6986 in the masaajid the majority wears a qamees or a sharwal qamis. So in that case it would be recommended to also wear that too, especially as an Imam

I can relate to my somali friends when they approached me about a morroccan and Sierra Leonian who did not pray or wear the hijab. I kindly told them to pray for them such that Allah can soften their hearts 💕 and they do also start observing the basics. Sometimes we think that if we practice, it is by our own ability and forget that Allah has just bestowed his mercy onto us. Instead of loathing our brothers and sisters who are weak in some ways, let's use kind words towards them and pray for them too. You can wake up muslim and die a disbeliever in the evening and vice versa.

"Most of us have a lot of brushing up to do" O Allah please make us be among those who will be of the TRUE BELIEVERS and follow exactly what You say for us to do and not let the whispers of Shaytan mess with our minds and distort the truth from what it really is! O Allah Help us all get back on the Right Path and practice our Deen according to Quran and Sunnah or we will really be lost moving forward! Ameen 🤍🤲💙

Allaah swt countless times in Quran emphasizes Salat, Zakat and do Righteousness. To Me Najaash from Ethiopia is a good example of Islam being easy and not hard as Allaah swt has explicitly said many times in the Quran

JazakAllah Sheikh for being one of the many voices of reason within our scholarship.
What is true is true, undoubtedly, but sometimes taking a hard stance against people just because their understanding of truth doesn't line-up with the truth, at the moment at least, only drives such people away from listening to the message with an open mind.
There is a time for both, but a calm discussion is always better than a debate.

Really amazing talk to contemplate on the Islamic way of looking through an issue/principle...such a wonderful critical way of analysis to ponder over...though it takes time to understand how it works, yet shows the way to find out the way to look through it..

That's why I love scholarship discourse. It opens up a myriad of ways to critically analyse concepts and aspects of the deen without a single opinion. True, the more you elevate yourself through research, the more humble and understanding you become.

He is talking to a Muslim audience in a masjid. These terms should be known to all Muslims.
      The kalima (كَلِمَة) is announcing
      أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ
“I bear witness that there is deity but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”
Janaza (جَنَازَة) is the funeral prayer for all Muslims who died.
Kafir (كَافِر) refers to any non-Muslim.
