I saw one that someone else said . Don't remember who sorry. But the packages that curtains and bed sheet come in could be used as packing cubes. Clear with strong zippers. I think that is very frugal and I'm a frugal girl who is addicted to curtains. 😂 So this will be my go to!
Thank you, great video! A few things that I’d suggest to add on to your carry-on (may not be applicable to all), includes: -an extra pair or two of contact lenses for those who wear them, most importantly for those who wear the daily disposables type, and all other types as well, including a back up pair of prescription glasses should something happen and you can’t wear your contact lenses for some reason. -female hygiene products for that time of the month, and; -my personal must have, should I need to go straight to dinner and don’t have my suitcases yet, a small can of dry shampoo and a brush. Great video!! Your packing cube comments are spot on. Something I have been doing for the past few cruises is waiting until just before you retire for the evening to put your luggage out for pickup. That way you can do the last room search, pack the clothes you wore that day, and then you are left with just your sleepwear, and hanging in the closet are the clothes and shoes you plan to wear for disembarkation. I have one packing cube left out so that I can put sleepwear and toiletries into it and pop the cube into my tote bag that will also have my essentials (medications, jewelry, wallet, passport, tickets, etc). AND place a post-it note on the door of the cabin to remind you to double-check the safe!
Potential disaster happened on our 12/2021 cruise embarkation. From Park & Go shuttle it was insisted that our carryon bags also went into trailer for the trip to the port. Before we were able to retrieve these bags from trailer, the port porters took the bags to the ship! Wine, medications, jewelry all got checked in. Thanks to the cruise gods I had a folder with documents in my purse! OMG this could have been the worst thing that could happen. Passports were in our pockets. I get anxiety feelings even thinking about it!
I always bring a clean kitchen trash bag to put my dirty clothes in after wearing them so the inside of my suitcase stays clean at the end of the trip 😎
For my shoes, sneakers, sandals I use the plastic vegetable bags you get from the grocery store. No cost and work great. I like the idea of a tech bag and have always used a laptop backpack. Great live feed today, maybe you should think of doing something once every 4 months. Happy Birthday and tell Frank he's a very lucky guy.
Great Video!! I can’t emphasize how important a bag is for the first day of the cruise. On our 21-day European cruise in 2019, my luggage did not make it to the cruise ship terminal. The first days were at sea, and next few days were countries that the US would not deliver the luggage to, so ultimately my luggage was not delivered until Day 13. I was without most clothes, but I had my essential toiletries and a change of clothes, as well as all important documents and electronics. I would get asked from other cruisers while getting coffee every morning “Did your bag arrive yet??” Definitely a challenging situation! Cruise ships don’t carry an abundance of size small clothes!
Can we relate! Our luggage got lost the entire two week trip. We got out luggage a week after we got back to the States. Luckily it was a large group trip and we got some clothes from friends. We now travel with smaller carry on bags and check the big suitcases.
I am thoroughly enjoying your videos. We r cruising in 3 weeks and I’m watching and learning all the tips and tricks to cruise happily. Thanks a heap girl and keep them coming. 💐🥂❤️
Thank you! First cruise coming up and I've gathered most all your suggestions. Seriously, packing cubes!! I don't know how I've lived without those before. My suitcase is way more organized now 🙌
Great tips, they were all helpful on my recent cruise from St Maarten. Especially the makeup and accessory organizers for my wife and the tech organizer and packing cubes for me! The only thing that I brought that I didn’t actually use was the towel clips… I am super fair skinned and burn too quickly so instead of the outdoor pool we spent more time in the solarium area where the glass is UV coated and wind just isn’t a problem.
So glad you had a great cruise and that the items were mostly useful. I never thought about the solarium areas (isn’t it amazing?!) and how there’s just no wind
Love all of your travel videos! Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us. You have helped me learn about. Also, thank you for the links. I am going on my first solo trip in 2 weeks (by plane to California with an 8 hrs layover in Dallas). I used your links to get the collapsible water bottles, tje tripod/selfie stick and the power adapter. Again, thank you! And I wish you many blessings💕
Hi Ilana, Fantastic video. I am definitely going to need all these ideas and tips help when packing for our very first cruise. Embarkation day carry on bag is brilliant. I will be watching this a few times to make sure I have everything in our carry on bag. We will be so excited and would hate to put something in our luggage that we need will not arrive into our cabin for a few hours later. So this video is Brilliantly helpful. A big thumbs up and thank you. Stay safe and happy cruising when we are able to travel around this beautiful world of ours. x
If you have medical devices (CPAP, etc.) treat them just like other valuable electronics. It may require a bit larger carry-on but you definitely want to protect those items and not put them in your checked luggage.
when I stay at a hotel that has a shower cap as part of the little items in the bathroom I always take it. I use it for the same purpose you're showing in this video. you can also buy an eight pack of shower caps at Dollar Tree
I use a second cosmetic bag for medication/first aid. Found helpful to have a list of medication from Dr to as some may have restrictions for certain countries.
The towels on Oasis (pool and bath) were horrible. Thin and rough so lesson learned bringing beach towels and a couple of bath towels for my August Oasis sailing.
I bought wine protector sleeves years and years ago from QVC. I place the wine in the wine protector sleeve, and then I place that inside a two gallon Ziploc bag. yes I place it in my carry on, but carry-on bags get knocked around as well.
Your videos are great! I have always packed my shoes in plastic bags or the cloth like shoe bags and I pack a bag or laundry bag for dirty clothes. My mom taught me that. Also you should bring a plastic bag for your wet bathing suit. I bought compression packing cubes they ate amazing.
i take a small travel bottle with dish liquid to wash my cup in the cabin , i take toiletries suncream travel calm medication , sunscreen , cotton buds bandaides , cotton wool , ear plugs , a nail file , nail cutters , tweezers , panadole , i have quite a few different smaller notes cash , , in a large ziplock bag , , i love ziplock bags you can use them if the kids want to take snacks to the cabin they can go in the fridge , a water bottle each to fill the water , aeroguard roll on for bites , stop itch , sun gel for sunburn , theres so many things i cant think of right now
Love this video! However, I am a senior with health issues. So, my carry-on packs my CPAP, medication and jewelry. When we shop for groceries, my husband always tears off too many “clean” produce bags than we actually need. I don’t discard these bags and use them to pack shoes so that a police dog at the airport who happens to be a “connoisseur” of fine tomatoes, doesn’t sit there sniffing my shoes. Holland America line NOW recommends that we bring 2 extra weeks of medication in case of an emergency. This also fits in my medication basket. Please keep up the good work, your videos are very useful. From Ottawa

FYI we brought a non surge protected power bar on our last Royal Caribbean cruise and it was confiscated as not allowed. So even though ad says cruise approved, they are not allowed.
Oh no - I’d be lost without it. How unfortunate. Did it have an extension cord or wire of any sort? I’m guessing someone was over vigilant as non surge protected power bars are usually allowed
Is there a size limit to carry on? Are you bringing the small luggage with wheels on it through or is it something you actually have to carry ? I was thinking a bookbag or small duffel bag.
Hi! Just found this vlog. Thanks. I would add a change of underwear, makeup remover. One time my husband got his suitcase before dinnertime however at 9pm back in the cabin mines had not arrived.. finally got it at 1am..i think they had misplaced it since my luggage tag seemed a bit torned. So i was happy to have a change of clothing. I personally include an extra bra since there's no way to purchase these things on ship 😉
thanks for this super informative video to watch because if I knew before about the jewellery packing tip, maybe I would have not lost my wedding ring on my cruise.
URGENT..LEAVING IN A FEW DAYS!!! How do I bring my meds aboard? Do I have to bring the 'bottles' from the pharmacy or can I just bring my 'daily' pill container???
I always recommend people keep their passports separate from their Birth Certificates and Photo ID. I keep one set in my purse and another in my carry on bag - just in case.
Thank you for the helpful videos! My husband and I will be going on our first cruise in September. I've never heard of towel clips. What are they used for?
I use Stasher bags rather than ziplock. On the shelf in the bathroom I have one with my toothbrush, toothpaste and picks. Then another with lotions etc. They come in many sizes and are very flexible. I put gum, mints, and snacks in them for the plane ride. Multiple uses. Waterproof and leakproof.
@lifewellcruised We are boarding an Alaskan Norwegian cruise on Saturday and want to explore Seattle before we board. Is it possible to drop off our luggage, go explore the local city, and then board later?
Hi, This is my first time going in a cruise, I’m thankful that you share Al the information to know. I have a question, Does tha cruises considere Sangria as wine? Thank you for all the information
@LifeWellCruised I'm confused - aren't you supposed to check in your luggage and just carry around your bag OR do you check in LARGER luggage and embark with your carry-on bag AND carry-on luggage? How many pieces of luggage to you carry on with you and how many do you have to check in?
Only very new ships have usb ports. Older ships have none. As far as plugs go one maybe two max. Bring a non surge power strip or a usb hub to charge your electronics. Also, watch a cabin video tour to see cabin configuration. This should help.
Seasickness medicine (Dramamine, Bonine, etc.) and disposal facial cleansing wipes (I have to fly to get to all cruise ports by plane & between that, transfer to the ship, and the pool, I really need to clean my face to get the suntan lotion and oil off my face!)
great tips. packing cubes were the best thing ever created. lol I bought a boatload of shoe covers from amazon during the start of covid. (the kind that they use in the O.R.) I know what to do with them now. great for packing shoes. I think I bought a pack of 100 or so. should last me a while. :)
I've gone to your link for the portable fan but the link is unavailable. Could you please give us a link to a similar fan as I've found it may be a cruise necessity for me. Thanks!

Love all your tips and tricks! I’m getting ready for an Alaska cruise on Royal Caribbean. Do you know if the dining room dress code for dinner (smart casual) is the same for breakfast and lunch, or more relaxed? Thanks!
Hello, question ? I'm going on my first Carnival cruise, and will be taking my own 12 pack of soda with me, and I know I must carry it on, since I don't want to lug it around, can I just tie it onto my carry on so they see that its an un-open carton ? or must it be checked in, and should I make extra copies of my suitcase tags, and tape on the carton ? I've been watching your channel and have picked up many great tips ! Thank you
Is there a maximum size requirement for carry on bags like air travel has ? We are planning a short 3-day cruise and don't need to bother with all that luggage.
Hi Illanna Do I need a day bag? I’m cruising from my home port and will be bringing my suitcase. Am I able to bring the suitcase directly onboard or does it get taken away, screened and then delivered to my cabin? Thanks, I really enjoy all your videos.
I believe you can bring your suitcase on if you like. If it isn’t too big it shouldn’t be a problem. Hopefully others can confirm this as I haven’t done it, but seen people do it
You can bring it onboard, but it can become a hassle to haul it around the ship until your cabin is ready. On a few cruises, the cabins on my deck area were not cleared until after dinner. (Basing this on ships that leave at 4-5 PM)
I would still have a separate carry-on bag with these essentials. Saves the hassle of locating anything you might need for the pool or things like medication for motion sickness, hand sanitizer, hairbrush, sanitizing wipes, electronics and charger, or anything you might need for several hours before your cabin is ready. And you won’t want to lug your large suitcase around with you! Even if you won’t be going to the pool, you’ll want to explore the ship.
Thanks all for the advice. I certainly don’t want to drag a suitcase around for hours. Are the cabins not ready by sail away time? Passengers are allowed to board at 1:00 and sail away is 4:00.
I’m so confused! My husband and I are booked for the Disney Wish in June. It will be our first cruise. Why are we checking our bags? Why can’t we just take them to our state room ourselves?
When you arrive at the terminal, porters will take your luggage and it is then delivered to your cabin. This is so people aren’t lugging suitcases up in the elevators and carrying luggage around the ship and public areas. If you only have a carry on bag and pack light, bringing your luggage as you embark is definitely possible. Check specifically for Disney to see what their rules are to be sure :)
Lisa Lambert - We typically select early boarding times and sometimes the staterooms aren't ready right away when you board. Cabin Stewards may still be cleaning the cabins from the previous voyage and you wouldn't have a place to storage your large suitcases. Having just carryon bags the first couple hours is much easier, especially if you are hanging out by the pool, eating lunch up on deck or exploring the ship. They typically have posted times you can go to your cabin and then you can drop off your carry on bags then. When they deliver the larger bags, they are left outside your cabin door. Hope that helps.
Do you recommend any hotels in Miami the day before the cruise? Timeline to book that hotel? Any tips on the transportation from the airport from Fort Lauderdale to Miami? Any tips on must do for one day and night in Miami? Best advice for first time cruise?
I will be going on my first cruise. I see quite a large carry on that you have along with a beach bag and backpack. Generally, how long to wait until you can go to your room?
In our case I usually have my son with too, so he has his stuff & we do take electronics/laptops etc. One carry on bag is enough for most. Most cruise lines you can go to your cabin after 1 pm or so
Good Sunday morning Ilana. Very good tips. A big thumbs up from Bob and a little thumbs up fro. Jill in Connecticut. Hope you'll actually be able to pack soon for a cruise. It seems a waste to unpack what's behind you.
What do you do with the Bag ( Backpack 🎒 or Beach bag) that’s carrying all of your personal stuff ( 📱phone, 💵) when you go on Shore excursions. Where do you safely put your bag if you go Snorkeling 🤿.
That’s a good question. We bring only one credit card, some cash, and drivers licence (no passports). We haven’t had an issue but you can bring a lock box which may be handy
I am first time cruiser. Can you please advise me: I (if I get exemption) need a PCR covid test for my 10 year old. It needs to be "taken within 72 hours prior to embarkation." My sail time is 3:30p.m. on Monday August 2. Can you tell me the earliest I can have this test done? Thanks for any help!
That’s a great question. I wish I could help and advise you, but I think you’d be best calling the cruise line to get the right info from them (most accurate and up to date). Have a great cruise!

A few things that I’d suggest to add on to your carry-on (may not be applicable to all), includes:
-an extra pair or two of contact lenses for those who wear them, most importantly for those who wear the daily disposables type, and all other types as well, including a back up pair of prescription glasses should something happen and you can’t wear your contact lenses for some reason.
-female hygiene products for that time of the month, and;
-my personal must have, should I need to go straight to dinner and don’t have my suitcases yet, a small can of dry shampoo and a brush.

Mee too but I also put a fabric sheet in the trash bag so the clothes don’t be so smelly when I wash them.
And smells nice , depending on your trash bag brand.

Yay!! Very exciting 🎉
Is there a size limit to carry on? Are you bringing the small luggage with wheels on it through or is it something you actually have to carry ? I was thinking a bookbag or small duffel bag.
When charging electronics at airport or and public terminal I use a data blocking usb device to stop ID theft. Small device fits in my electronics bag

I was wondering when leaving our luggage with the porters, should they be locked up or unlocked? My suitcases have built-in TSA approved locks.
I saw that Royal wouldn't let you use any kind of power strip. Is that still their policy.
Thank you for the helpful videos! My husband and I will be going on our first cruise in September. I've never heard of towel clips. What are they used for?
Towel clips hold the towel on your chair so the towel doesn’t blow away when you’re not on the chair!
Do you have a link to the pouch you used for all your charging cords & the power plug?
Can you use a carry-on, personal bag & a purse?
We are on the Island Princess this fall. Are we allowed to bring our rolling carry-on suitcase plus our backpack?
@LifeWellCruised I'm confused - aren't you supposed to check in your luggage and just carry around your bag OR do you check in LARGER luggage and embark with your carry-on bag AND carry-on luggage? How many pieces of luggage to you carry on with you and how many do you have to check in?
They do have USB plus in the cabin though correct? And plugs?
Only very new ships have usb ports. Older ships have none. As far as plugs go one maybe two max. Bring a non surge power strip or a usb hub to charge your electronics. Also, watch a cabin video tour to see cabin configuration. This should help.
Thank you for sharing! This is best list yet!
What do you pack in your cruise embarkation day bag? Any items I missed?
Seasickness medicine (Dramamine, Bonine, etc.) and disposal facial cleansing wipes (I have to fly to get to all cruise ports by plane & between that, transfer to the ship, and the pool, I really need to clean my face to get the suntan lotion and oil off my face!)
You are amazing. Always very helpful and appreciated!
You’re too kind! Thanks for watching:)
Great summary.😀
Can you talk about tipping. Ive been charged gratuities already but want to be thankful and tip of appropriate. I want my 12 and 14 to show gratitude
I love the shower caps for shoes.
Do you bring extra towels from home or does the Cruise line supply...?
We will be first time cruisers end of August. Can we take the cruises towels when we leave the ship on excursions or need our own ?
Great question! Yes you can take them. Just make sure to bring them back :)
Great idea re the shower cap!
great tips. packing cubes were the best thing ever created. lol I bought a boatload of shoe covers from amazon during the start of covid. (the kind that they use in the O.R.) I know what to do with them now. great for packing shoes. I think I bought a pack of 100 or so. should last me a while. :)
How smart!! I like that idea of finding a way to use those!!
Does medication need to be in the script bottles? I usually use a 2 wks medication pill box. Is your carry on bag (s) screened?
If i pack light can I just carry my small suitcase with me onto the ship? Do I have to leave it with the porter at the port?
I use the disposable shower caps for my land trips as well.
thansk so much so helpfull
Awesome!! Thanks for watching
I've gone to your link for the portable fan but the link is unavailable. Could you please give us a link to a similar fan as I've found it may be a cruise necessity for me. Thanks!
Loved your video. Do u think they will allow my Revlon all in one hair dryer an volumizer
If it has any sort of heating element it will not be allowed.
Thank you great video
Bring back up prescription glasses and prescription sunglasses
You’re so beautiful 🤩 thank you so much for your info! And all your Amazon links! I am taking my first cruise and your videos took all the anxiety away! We’re going to the Bahamas on the celebrity cruise line, The millennium
Amazing cruise!! I’m sure you’ll love this cruise line and ship - don’t worry they make it easy! So glad the videos are helpful
@@LifeWellCruised you truly are the best! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
need help what cruise line would you pick. Princess Celebrity Carnival Or Ncl.
Very true the tips are general and each cruise line is a bit different on embarkation day
Do you pay extra for checked luggage?
Have you use or heard of forward luggage? I kinda want to try it because traveling with luggage is culling
I haven’t. That’s interesting though
@@LifeWellCruised Princess calls it luggage Valet...leaving on a cruise in May trying to see it is worth it
Thank u x
Thank you
What did you end up doing with the 12 pack of soda?
So you bring both the carry on sized travel luggage and the over the shoulder bag?
How do you carry your can druinks? In your carry on?
Good tips!
Thanks for sharing. Is there a liquid restriction for the toiletries, similar to TSA?
Nope - great question
Is there a maximum size requirement for carry on bags like air travel has ? We are planning a short 3-day cruise and don't need to bother with all that luggage.
Hi Illanna
Do I need a day bag?
Do mediation need to be in the orginal bottles with RX info?
I took pictures of the prescription bottles. I made sure you can see the name of the medication and my name clearly
Thanks so much for explaining. I’ve got so much to learn. 🙀
@@lisalimbert7069 not at all. I know there are all these little things that aren’t necessarily obvious:)
You can take the light rail (train) from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami. It is inexpensive and cuts down on the cost of taxi/uber fare.
I will be going on my first cruise. I see quite a large carry on that you have along with a beach bag and backpack. Generally, how long to wait until you can go to your room?
In our case I usually have my son with too, so he has his stuff & we do take electronics/laptops etc. One carry on bag is enough for most. Most cruise lines you can go to your cabin after 1 pm or so
This is great! Thanks!
How many carry on bags can you have for a 3-5 day cruise?
Good Sunday morning Ilana. Very good tips. A big thumbs up from Bob and a little thumbs up fro. Jill in Connecticut. Hope you'll actually be able to pack soon for a cruise. It seems a waste to unpack what's behind you.
Haha love that!! Maybe if I don’t unpack I’ll manifest a cruise 😉😂
