Just found this video, absolutely fantastic, my father drove one of them with Smith of Maddiston. He used to come home late on a Saturday afternoon after being away all week, my highlight was a wee run in it to the yard at Maddiston. I was a driver there also, now retired but many happy years with Smith then moved on when Smith closed down. Kind regards Johnny
Lovely motor and a rarity, somewhat too quiet for a 680, a bit sanitised,. Regarding the 5 speed pneumocylic box with tower change, does the splitter work off all 5 gears or just 3 ?,1st, 2nd not benefitting from the splitter. A 680 has to be LOUD!!! like my mates Bristol RE Bus with a 680 that wakes the dead. I rode a Bristol VR 680 with yes cats&kittens a blown elbow joint in the exhaust AWESOME!!!! I have that 680 barking on tape.

Hellfire Music from what im guessing is a 680?
Absolutely beautiful sounds. We did it all before the foreigners
Never saw the gear lever or changing gear, may be a two speed axle.
Integral splitter in the box
What box is in it plz
5 speed pneumocyclic with integral splitter. The split is roughly 40/60.
@Beaver680 where is the exhaust on this lorry? Underneath the cab at the front or underneath the chassie out the back?
