I did my MPhil at UCD back in the 70’s. The manuscript I was working on was in the Trinity rare book room. The library was usually empty. Most mornings, I’d stop in front of the Book of Kells. They turned the page daily, so, over time, I saw most of it. As for Grafton Street, if you know five people in Dublin, any day of the week, you’ll run into at least one of them on Grafton Street. I lived on Merion Square at one point. It was a mess of cheap bed sits back then. Now it’s totally gentrified.
