  • Withdrawing from her software engineering course to become a techprenuer wasn’t always a part of Betelhem Dessie’s plans. However, she stopped midway to focus on spreading the tech gospel. That's how Betelhem began her journey into technology. Today, she coordinates a number of nationwide programs in Ethiopia. Betelhem works with young people to find technological solutions to community-based problems and teaches young Africans the basics of artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain and other emerging technologies.

That’s amazing to see more young Africans getting into the technology industry. The technology has the potential to get Africa to the next level. Big up to my brothers and sisters in Ethiopia 🇪🇹 🙏🏾

This is truly inspiring, also a firm reminder of how access plays a big role in career options. It's not just enough to go career expos but to get hands on experience working on technologies. The sad reality is that most African minds don't have access to computers and aren't exposed to coding as a career.
