    Great set up but put the heat mat on the side not the bottom because the Pac-Man frogs borrow to the bottom to cool down

    What a beautiful set up, I would probably get a 10-20 gallon tank when it gets bigger but the setup is excellent, I love what you did with the moss. Pacman frogs are so beautiful and neat they make great pets especially for older children I have two "in separate terrariums."
    Great job! :)

    I personally think instead of the digital thermometer you should use a temperature gun it's just easier and more convenient if you have various animals instead of getting a seperate thermometer for each enclosure. I'm not criticizing or hating it's just a suggestion :)

      They don’t need a heat lamp, the right size heating pad alone will work fine nor do they need a bowl of any kind as they absorb moisture through their skin and through the food they eat.

  • @jbot1975
    @jbot1975 Год назад

    A heating pad on the side is only going to heat up maybe 2" of space around it where the substrate touches it, leaving the entire rest of the enclosure bottom room temp & below. My bdrm stays 70-72F & the heat mat on the side of my forest scorpion tank wasn't worth squat.

    THis is so wrong. You should not heat the substrate. The frog burrows to get cool not warm. It’s all about air temp. Very wrong video

    • @piscespet1
      @piscespet1  5 лет назад +19

      Actually, an undertank heater will more closely resemble the warm soils of the amazon. If the frog is too hot in this spot, he will simply move and bury to an area where there is no heat pad underneath. The difference between this versus a heat emitter is the emitter will dry air out, where the evaporation from the heat pad will increase the humidity.

  •  5 лет назад +8

    5 gallon enclosure? That's just brutal. I know Pacman frogs don't require big enclosures, but 5 gallons is too small, even for a young frog. Give it at the very minimum 10, preferably 20.

    • @piscespet1
      @piscespet1  5 лет назад +16

      20 gallons is too large for a very young pacman unless you are tong feeding, there is too much room for the crickets to hide. 10 gallons also work well for a juvenile, but since it will have to be upgraded when he grows up anyhow, we just stuck with a 5 gallon. When they are young, you want to have a smaller enclosure so you can better monitor their eating habits. Once they grow, as we mentioned, you will want to upgrade to a 20 gallon enclosure for an adult.

    •  5 лет назад

      Just have a separate small tank for feeding (5 gallons is more than enough, even 2 would do), which is completely empty and easy to clean. Also the smaller tank is good for baths (after every feeding), and if you do it regularly, and keep the substrate moist, you don't even need a water bowl in the main tank. That way, the frog will not urinate and defecate in its main enclosure (since it only does it in the water), which will make it cleaner and healthier.

    • @piscespet1
      @piscespet1  5 лет назад +21

      @ Constantly handling and digging your pacman from under the soil for every feeding is unnecessary. With a proper set-up, you shouldn't need to remove your frog from the enclosure unless completely necessary. It is easier to remove the water dish and clean daily than remove the frog.

      Have you ever owned a pacman frog? They're pretty much colorful rocks you have to feed

    with all of the heat that frog is toast

    • @piscespet1
      @piscespet1  4 года назад +4

      That lovely thermostat unit will ensure the heat never goes above the optimal temperature. When hooked up to a thermostat, you want to use higher-rated heating so the thermostat controller only uses x amount of power from the heat source to get the right temp.

    Dont do the heater ond the bodem ... on the side

    • @piscespet1
      @piscespet1  5 лет назад

      If your heater is on the side, you will need another method to create a high relative humidity (:

      Pisces Pets yes but if it’s on the bottom you will have more of a chance of cracking your tank and injuring the frog

    Everything is wrong.
    Please, no moss cause they cant digest them. People might mistake them for dry moss.
    No hide cause they hide make a hole themselves.
    And I found dirty holds more humidity than coconut fiber.
    One of my pacman was always on the dirty side, never on the fiber side.

      Ross Well for a baby Pac-Man the size is fine, once they get larger they will need a bigger terrarium but they’re also fairly immobile creatures and don’t move much so they don’t need loads of space like some other animals

      @@Meglotruck So all i see on the web is that they REQUIRE the minimum of at least 10 gal, but they don't even move! So what's the point of such large space? The top piece is open with vent anyways so I just don't understand the concept.

    • @Meglotruck

      I M exactly what I was about to say, beat me to it lol. The temperature and comfort of the frog is pretty much the reason for a larger tank. :)
