    0:06 - why should the government pay someone for cleaning their own house?
    0:23 - nope, factually and statistically incorrect.
    0:31 - yes. It measures the median pay gap regardless of job. Men make more because of the following:
    1. Men tend to take riskier jobs. This is why they make up 66% of the workforce, yet make up approximately 94% of all workplace deaths. They take riskier and therefore, higher paying jobs.
    2. Men tend to take less vacations.
    3. Men are more likely to work overtime
    4. Men are more likely to ask for raises or promotions
    5. Men are more competitive
    6. Men prioritize earnings more than women
    7. Men retire later than women
    In a study of the 50 biggest cities in America, women actually get paid more for the same jobs.
    Equal opportunity is what should be fought for. Not equal result. That is communism/socialism.
    1:01 - just to note, school is catered towards girls too. Girls are born being the ideal standard for a student in school because boys tend to be more energetic and restless. This contributes to men only making up about 40% of all people in college. Men also choose to work in higher paying jobs like STEM fields, so I wonder why they might get paid more.

    2:55 - yes. Many studies show that approximately 71% of women believe that men need to provide for their family as the main source of income while only 32% of men see it as important for a woman to provide any source of income to be a good partner. Who is worse off here? The ones with equal opportunity (at least in America) and no expectations, or the Men who are expected to provide for their families or will be shamed by society?

      I agree with everything except with "who is worse off here"? I think that the women play into the stereotype that they aren't built for the riskier jobs. Teachers in schools will say "I need some strong boys to lift this" from an early age and it carves girls' and boys' ideals about the other gender. Just as much as a man would be shamed for not being the provider (as it a stereotype), I could argue a woman would be doubted for trying to pursue something in the STEM field. Not necessarily they aren't given the right to apply, but most certainly I could argue there is a large amount of societal pressure to not pursue something that is male-dominated.

      @@petiteleday1867 I'm not all that opinionated in the subject of men being natural providers and women being natural caretakers. Yes, women are 50% weaker than men in regards to upper body strength and this is why they take less dangerous jobs. They can do that all they like, but when they start complaining that they have less money or jobs because of outcome and not opportunity, that's when I have a problem. Feminists tend to say that men make more money or have better jobs, so it's patriarchal discrimination. I would say that both genders have equal opportunity in STEM fields and women working in them is encouraged for the most part. I believe there is discrimination towards men, in that men are discouraged and often humiliated when they take the role of being a "stay at home dad". This is unlike how women are treated in STEM fields, as there is of what i've seen, zero out of the ordinary discrimination towards women.

      @@backflipbro790 No I have to disagree. If we're going under your statement that men are the natural providers and women are the caretakers (which is a bit of stereotype because that would be implying that is unnatural for the alternative). Then, it would be fair to say that women are expected to be elementary school teachers and nurses. When you say there is no discrimination in the STEM fields, there have many NUMEROUS studies that show children instinctively thinking that high school math teachers, scientists, and doctors were all male. There's an image that men dominate the field and because of that, a qualified woman would be doubted to fit that role. I'm not denying that a man would be ridiculed for being a "stay-at-home-dad", I agree, but it works *both ways*. At least in America, I can't speak for other countries that won't even let girls get educated.

      Even in the same job or same position, men tend to work harder and are usually the ones volunteering to go beyond in terms of contribution or overtime. This is without even talking about the potential for maternity leave.

      I'm in high school and I WORK HARDER than my classmates, so why should I look towards a future where my paycheck is lower please enlighten me. I understand the wage cap takes into account that women take the low-paying jobs don't get me wrong, but the unexplained 4% is style a mystery to most economists.

    Are stay at home moms really unpaid? Do they have to pay rent or pay for food and transportation, or are those very costly necessities provided to them by their husbands who are responsible for the mortgage and food on the table? To be sure raising a family is not just important, it's the most important "job" one can have, but please don't suggest that those who have working husbands aren't getting paid simply because they don't get a W2 at the end of the year. They get a rent free house, utilities, insurance, cars, gasoline, clothing, etc. and in case of divorce, they will get more than half of that man's net worth.
    If you think I'm wrong, I challenge you to step higher than calling me names and state why you think I'm wrong. Peace.

      Marriage is an agreement, among other things, to split your net wealth. She doesn't take it during divorce, she was given it during marriage. Also would you work for any job that tells you "your payment is you get to live here and that's it"?

    There is no gender pay gap. It is all simply due to choices in jobs. For example, A woman who works at a fast food place and takes people’s orders should not get as much as me, a construction worker who pushes in thick and heavy secondary wire for large buildings from sunrise til sunset, outside in ALL types of weather. Now I know not all women can handle the hard labor of construction, but there are plenty of jobs out there that will pay women for either equal or greater to what I earn with a greatly reduced amount of physical work.

      Do you guys not realize how disparaging those 2 cents are? For a man who earns 50 dollars an hour at a job, a woman would earn 49 dollars an hour at that same job. After a full 40-hour work week, the women would have made 40 dollars less than that man. In just one week! That's 160 dollars a month that a woman would be missing out on in the same job.

      Not me and I'm a woman, but anyways that's not the point. What about the US men's and woman's soccer team. They are actually not paid the same even though the US women's team have won consecutively. I know that it has a lot to do with the fans and the turnout to the World Cup, but the women's team obviously works harder.

They are working the same job, and yes the tickets matter, but the women don't control how many people are coming to their games. It's actually the result of stereotypes that people don't really watch them as much, they assume they don't work as hard or that they aren't as good.

    This doesn’t account for Men who have no social lives, and women who have social lives. Men have nobody to really stick around later in life, so they devote themselves purely to their work. Chances are, a woman will either be on the internet, or with friends.
    Let’s say they spend an hour on friends. For the man that’s an hour of work. It’s no wonder why promotions are more common and they get more money.

    If this was true only women would be working. As a business owner I would only hire women to save money if a man and a woman start at a job I'm going to pay them the same amount and if they work the same hours and Days by the end of the pay peroid both Their checks will be identical.

    If men did housework and cleaned after themselves, then women do not need to get paid for housework since they have the choice to work to earn their salaries. There should be compensation for both men and women if they are forced to sacrifice their career goals for the family. People tend to stereotype. Some men do housework for their families!

    This is mostly "population map" in the workplace stats. Especially counting black women promotions to white men promotions. This is actually laughable.     How exactly do you want to monetize the so called unpaid work? Do I get a dollar for each dish I wash, 10 dollars for each floor cleaned and 5 dollars for every diaper I change? Who's gonna pay me?
    Who is gonna judge that I did that? A camera in my home? Were you smoking something when you thought about that idea?
    Why do some women earn more than some men? Why do we not hire only women when they supposedly earn less? We have quotas for women, not for men, so that wouldn't be an issue.

    The statistics are accurate but they don’t really touch on the why part. If your gonna make an argument you must go more in-depth and explain why. I get it woman get payed less in work because they aren’t getting payed for things they do out of work that takes work time. But again that’s up to the woman, if u choose to have kids and take care of them why should others have to go the extra mile for u when u chose to do the action. There is great imbalance for inequality for genders don’t get me wrong but there are still other things u have to take into account. Our government is mostly run by men because they’ve shown they are qualified not because they’re men. No they worked hard to do what they want a woman can achieve the same goal who said they couldn’t.

    Bruh men work hours more than woman work hour so if you manger have man work 27 hours every week and woman in same work but work 10 hours are you will pay same for two of them?
