KRS just mentioned this in an interview so I had to check it out, although I heard it maybe 25 years ago or so. I never knew they had a diss going on between them 2...this is dope Big Daddy Kane wrote that verse for her.
_♪A lotta MCs today really know how to please, but I gave birth to most of them MCs. So, when it comes around to the month of May, send me your royalty check for Mother's Day.♪💐_
You prolly dont give a shit but does someone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
The heart of a lioness in this track. When you are a connoisseur of the craft, it is never about a Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Long Island, or Long Island thing , it's about admiring the best that the MC brings to the craft of hip-hop and rap, and Roxanne Shante always brings it. - Candid Darrell
1987 - the perhaps the most innovative year of rap ever. The first year after Rakim just had just introduced the new style of MC'in that elevated the art from the happy here-we-go-party-hop that had been dominating until the mid 80's (maybe with Run DMC and LL to pave the way of the transition). Shante's flow is almost - if not *as* slamming - as Rakim's. I experienced all of this in early 1988. A bunch of 1987 12"'s was thrown at me on a local radio show where the DJ, Joe Bellmati (who later had succes as a producer in the US together with fellow Danes such as Carlin, Cutfather and Soulshock) did it Marley Marl/Mr. Magic and Red Alerts Style - beat-mixing all of the songs together mixtape style, scratching the beginnings of them and looping/extending the first 4 bars or so of the tracks before he'd let the rest of the track play. I taped almost the whole show and the first track I got on the tape was this one. That blew me totally and since then, hiphop, scratching and dj'ing like that has stayed in my heart. I actually learned my self the art of scratching by listening to that show over and over.

Why does none of the female MCs today pay hommage to Roxanne
because they weren't even born or too young to remember her. they can barely remember Missy Elliot, Eve, Mc Lyte, etc.

KRS ONE admitted that Big Daddy Kane actually wrote this lol

Joey Francois not surprised if true sounds like Kane in the phraseology they probably worked together, Shante was definitely super talented
If true, still doesn't take away the credibility of the fact that Roxanne is still that b-.
