- In California’s Central Valley, water prices have risen as high as $2,000 an acre-foot.
As a price comparison, in non-drought times water can sell for as low as $250 per acre-foot. On the highest end, other farmers have sold their future water rights for as high as $5,000 per acre-foot.
Two of the biggest players in the California’s water scene are Stewart and Lynda Resnick.
They’re the billionaire owners of The Wonderful Company, known for their pistachios, mandarin oranges, and POM wonderful pomegranate juice. The Resnicks are also majority owners in the Kern Water Bank, one of California's largest underground water storage facilities.
A water bank is an area mostly underground where water can be stored reliably until it is needed. From above water banks tend to look like puddles, but underneath they can hold hundreds of thousands of gallons.

To be honest, I am just surprised how humanity is still alive.
Wait till I get thirsty I'll show you who the f*** owns the water
Only in America you have private ownership on public properties.
Legal loopholes.
“How to build a water bank.”
Yes I'm also a living testimony of Mrs Bianca
The dentist guy who was played by Christian bale in the big short, who actually saw the housing market bubble and made hundreds of millions had years or even a decade ago said that the next big investment is water. And that guy has started buying many water banks too. Its about time that ppl are realising that water is an investment opportunity too.
You are talking about Michael Barry.

Hopefully the public will take these necessary resources back and out of the hands out of investors.

God is there anything that the chosen people have not ruined yet ?
They are working on it, give them time.
Only in the US, ridiculous.
And the rich will inherit and destroy the earth ......
How would you be able to identify an underwater water bank storage?
Consulting geologic surveys
Normal people can also buy water and farm lands, but they too busy running behind crypto and Nft's. 🤣
Then in future their children and grandchildren will blame rich people for owning all the necessary Commodities. 😎
@@RedLemon69 My grandfather left me plenty of farm lands, but I am planning to expand it even more. My next 10 years plan is fixed.

Our inability to protect the public trust/ social collective will eventually collapse both our economy and our ecosystem. It’s a crime against humanity.

Build a desalination plant it's under a billion dollars, acting like we have a crisis when we have technology
I really don’t understand the crisis when we have this technology.
The desalination process is very energy intensive.
read the cons of using desalination plants.
1. per litre of water you get 1.5 litres of brine which makes the sea more salty and kills marine life
2. the electricity usage is soo high it’ll pollute the atmosphere
3. they are very expensive
4. if you have thousands of desalination plants than the sea will suffer from both high salinity and high temperatures = no more fishes and reefs = BILLIONS/Trillions of dollars gonna be lost as a massive sector in the world’s economy collapse
@@DanielSann look at the desalination technology Israel has developed. It’s the most advanced and they turned a desert into an exporter of water!
@@SA-nu2so put the brine on a salt lake and evaporate it for salt ?

It's terrible. Like she has gravel in her throat.
If the water was made public, it would be wasted. It’s best the water stays in private hands
or maybe if you used your brain properly, you would say give water management to specialised engineers and worker paid by the govt, then manage the water properly.
Maybe the USA system is fucked but in the UK & EU water is clean and they don’t suffer from your issues
