But a person could move from one group to another depending on how much they accumulate or lose wealth. When the colonizers came, they turned them into ethnic groups and one of the major factors that differentiated the two groups was the nose. So, if you had a smaller nose, you'd be Tutsi, and a broader nose would be Hutu, which as you guys mentioned also signified a person's proximity to whiteness because Tutsis had more Eurocentric features than Hutus. So, it wasn't about colorism, but it is an issue here as well. Hope that helps

Then later I hear my parents fighting that they were given a 2rd born msichana (me) and weeeuh it killed every part of me because I didn't know who to tell or what to think...so I failed also academically just to completely "compliment" the failure mentality that already I had gotten I didn't feel like being anything good would change how people thought of me. Anyway....it affected me all thru , and when I went to campus (diploma level) I really needed to prove I belonged somewhere and here I messed hard just to boost my esteem....long story short I ended up HIV+, never graduated, single jobless mum now in my 30s trying to make ends meet.
