If you're planning on analyzing Shanti's encounter, keep this in mind: you can notice when Kaa hypnotizes Shanti, he's not just controlling her. He's practically puppeteering her. Shanti had been raised to be a perfect obedient daughter who never questions authority. That alone makes her susceptible to a mere fraction of Kaa's hypnotic power. And that's not even mentioning the fact that she was literally facing her worst nightmare at the time, which completely nullifies any chance of an ounce of resistance.

The "Picking on that poor little helpless boy... Oh yes~ That poor little helpless boy"
Was always a favorite. Especially the spiral of excitement flowing in as a reflex.
(Also i remember in your fics in which Kaa is a Naga i felt many things while reading that)

You’re certainly right about Mowgli being unfit to survive in the jungle.
Like Bagheera said, he wouldn’t last even one day on his own
Luckily for him, he’s protected by plot armor .
He is the star after all
    Stars don’t die

12:20 Mowgli is not dumb. You should know by now that it takes a few seconds for Kaa's hypnosis to trap the victim depending on their willpower. Mowgli is very strong-willed and he knows that. He also knows that if Kaa tries to hypnotize him, he can easily shut his eyes now that he doesn’t have to worry about the coils. He also has never seen Kaa being anything but pleasant to him, so he didn't expect him to be so direct.

Valid points, I'd say. Not to mention it's the second time that day he's felt betrayed, assuming he ran into Kaa the same day he ran away from Baloo.

Are you defending the kid who seriously thought he was gonna take on a giant tiger with a small, not even sharp stick? (Yes I know he ran when the tiger lunged but good GOD kid were you struck with blindness until that point?! His claws are twice the length of your hand!)

There you go once again providing us with yet another thoughtful analysis.
There was always something about the way Shere Khan just being so intimidating to even Kaa that I find satisfying from a narrative standpoint, because if this tiger can make someone like Kaa worry, it showcases that he really is bad news.
Also, I never put too much thought into why Mowgli woke up this time and just assumed it was from the coils wrapped around him coming loose. But you make a good point about Mowgli also stirring possibly from the hot jungle air, something you probably would notice if you're perpetually shirtless like Mowgli.
As for their final interaction, I feel like neither Mowgli nor Kaa were thinking too rationally here. In Mowgli's case, it's because Baloo's treachery was still very recent, and until he was hypnotized again, Kaa did seem like he was trying to help him. As for Kaa, he was clearly not thinking straight because he just got embarrassed by the jungle boy again; he had the perfect chance to hypnotize Mowgli one more time and he didn't do it. One thing's for sure, whenever Kaa gets his next meal, it will never be Mowgli.

Really enjoyed your breakdown of Kaa and Shere Khan, most just skip it after Mowgli is in Kaa's coils. Great job.

What a great breakdown as usual. The way Kaa is on the backfoot. He tried to keep a sense of control but knows Shere Khan is more than he can muster. Still, he tries. Something he must at least work with to keep up the charade.
Poor Kaa can never manage a decent meal. Maybe one of the Wolves can be a fine meal sometime @3@

I don't think Shere Khan kept his eyes lidded to avoid being hypnotized. I'm pretty sure that was just a symptom of his smug overconfidence. Yes, he shut his eye as Kaa tried to trance him, but I took it to mean he found it annoying, kind of like how even a Taylor Swift song one enjoys just becomes irritating when you're in a bad mood.

i feel for shere khan and kaa hypnosis he not immuned to it he just need time to be wore down like if kaa and shere khan had encounter like kaa and mowgli 2nd encounter or had encounter after shere khan humiliation defeat it would be totally different story. another thing if you compare kaa singing in this encounter and his singing in trust in me like he singing/hypnosis bad on purpose to get rid of him so he could get back to his mancub meal

You know the analizys did start off good, a little overly nitpicky but good. Then it veered hard into trying to excuse Kaa and cherry picking information. It's clearly a review with an agenda and it hurts the end product.
