The greatest Umrhubhe (Bow) performance by a XHOSA mother of the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Madosini Mbizweni, like Nofinishi Dywili, has shown the world what an African mother can do when it comes to music mastery;she even made the instrument she is playing, as most of these instruments, UHADI and UMRHUBHE are locally made in the villages by woman.

Is there a translation of what she is saying on stage? I'm doing a research presentation for my world music class at UTSA and think this would be a phenomenal resource. Thank you for uploading!

"The girls of the olden South African days when they go to war (in fact the Xhosa women's competition of playing Umjeko or Umrhubhe) would say: "We trust we will win this war, but we don't underestimate our enemy, like you the children of today...niyadelela (You like to underestimate and that's why you lose most of the time...you not like us) ; through the sounds of our Bow(Umrhubhe) instrument we will invoke our Gods and Goddesses to see us through "Siyaya Empheko" means "We shall go to Mpheko", "Kukud'eMampondweni" means "Mpondo Land is far". And then she goes on a woman's battle cry...ululating (Halaa...la!!!)

he's not doing stories justice. These stories that uMama is telling are rich in history and the partial translation is throwing away the significance of their epistemological setting...

@@AkaliciousZA more reason to not only translate but to also trans-language...this guy is feeding misconceptions and stereotypes
