Sandro great comparison . I would like see the Rupes compound used with their inew blue foam and or wool pads since they have been designed to use together. They may have done better as a combination. I know that TLC doesn't make their own pads but Scholl does make their own pads. do you have a video talking about your machine polish technique and specifically how important it is to not allow pad stall? I keep reaching for my Forced Rotation because I keep getting pad stall on the DA. But the DA does give it that extra pop for the final finish.
Well, another very impressive and attention to detail video Sandro. The only problem for me is that just when I thought I had it worked out as far as the best Compound to have, you then show us a new evolution of the breed. I have used TLC and loved it. I also love S20 Black. But obviously, the new TLC+ has that extra bite that I would have liked when I used it on my very hard Astra paint. So does the original TLC have a slight edge with finish compared to the TLC+???? Because I could not really separate S20 & TLC for their great finish on my hard paint. Given that they are all very good and similar, for me, it would be S2 Black based only on its cost/value. Just out of curiousity, what resolution did you film in??? Just my 720p Computer doesn't quite let me see the white paint results that well. Thanks again Sandro. Well done
Thanks mate, and you may not see a difference on hard paints, but on medium to softer paints I did personally tend to get a better finish with TLC+ compared to TLC, and S20 unquestionably finishes better on medium to softer paints. The video was filmed in both 4K and Full HD.
Thanks Sandro. Another great video. I finally got around to getting 3D's ACA compound. I wanted something more aggressive than the compounds I already had.
Information overload 👍🏻😁😁 another splendid video Sandro , I am sure you could of carried on to hit the hour mark as you done well to get all information in under 30mins tho 👍🏻😁
Love your videoes!! Just picked up the new blue Rupes, after have been using S2 black som time now, and have the same experience with it. S2 and S20 are probably my favourites atm. Have you tried any of them om the Rupes wool pads?
I’d tend to agree about the backing foam not being as durable as it should and I’ve actually mentioned this in a past video. But the best thing you can do is work with about 3 pads at a time and swap them out frequently to allow them to cool as heat seems to be the main reason that kills the backing foam. But I love those pads so much that I just deal with it, but I do wish Rupes would address it!
Rupes Fine is more of a medium compound in my experience, it does cut petty well and may be closer to Perfect Finish or even Cut & Finish. I’d like to include some Labocosmetica compounds in the future, do seem to perform quite well.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thanks Sandro. I think the followers would lovee to see you use the Sonax EX04-06 in particular. At least in germany its one of the most used and loved 1 Steps. It does cut less than Scholl Concepts S20 Black.
In my experience Chop Top cuts very well and potentially to a similar level but I don’t feel it finishes quite as good as these overall. FCC on the other hand tends to finish very well but I don’t think it has the same level of cut. I’m no authority on those compounds but that would be my assumptions based on my limited use of them.
hello master. I would like to buy a polishing machine, but I don't know which one to choose. Rupes lhr15 mark3 or Flex xfe7 15.maybe you recommend something else. Many thanks.😀
They are both good polishers! What I would say personally, is if you get the Rupes, it might be worth doing the washer mod or getting the Kamikaze or Shine Supply backing plates for it, as it helps it spin more freely with less stall. If you get the Flex, just stick to using it with the 5” backing plate as it struggles and just stalls too much with the 6” plate and larger pads in my experience. There will be some more polishers from some brands coming out very soon, so it’s up to you if you want to wait and if you’re not in a hurry, but that’s all I can say 🙂
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing everything explained as always. Thank you very much. I would like to have a teacher like you. I will continue to watch your channel because it is the best. Lots of details that I can learn.you are the star.many thanks😀
Sandro great work as always! Do you have a baseline pad/polish combo that you employ on certain manufacturers vehicles? Such as: Audi i always start with this pad/compound and finish with this polish and Porsche is this plus this? Just wondering after you doing thousands? of vehicles you have developed a pattern. Thanks from Texas.
Thanks, but the condition of the paint, it’s thickness and the customers goals also play a large part in which pad and level of correction I pursue, so it’s really always changing and adapting to each new job.
You’ll get a feel for them with a little experience but basically hard paints take more time, aggressive compounds, pads and techniques to remove defects, but are very easy and non fussy to finish well with great gloss and clarity. Whereas soft paints don’t require a lot of aggression to remove existing defects by comparison, but are more difficult and fussy when trying to finish with great gloss and clarity.
Excellent video and analysis of these three compounds. Does one of these formulas help you complete a 1-step correction faster when cutting with Rupes wool pads on the LHR15 or Mille?
Thanks, and it really depends on the things I covered in the video like your personal style or preference with technique which translates over to almost all pads.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing cutmax and perfect finish etc is available from the Detail shed and autobuff, both very impressive & versatile compounds Sandro, I use them everyday. Great vid mate 👌
I would say it tends to excel on both microfibre and wool pads as far as cut goes, but reduce the amount of product on an intermediate foam pad and it can finish quite well depending on the paint type.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Any chance to see review of Shine Supply polishes and compounds? Your tests and reviews is very important for me. Shine Supply is not available in my country. So it problematic to just pick up few bottles for testing :(
Hi Sandro! I’m sorry to continue to bother you with comments this week, but I’ve been struggling with something and wanted to ask a quick question. Overall, I have had very good luck with finishing from Rupes’ DA Fine on all but the softest of paint systems, and of course Nv Finesse as well..it is about as perfect as it gets imo besides the dusting. I have not had good luck at all with Rupes’ UNO Pure, however. No matter what combination of pad/polish/speed/pressure/etc I try, I cannot get it to finish down 100% on any paint system at all. After a Throwback or Clarity wipedown, I will always still have some scattered DA haze left behind from the UNO Pure step, because they weren’t apparent in the previous cutting step. Have you had good results with Pure? Do you have any tips? I really want to figure it out, but I’m highly frustrated.
No, I’m probably the same as you in that regard. A lot of these super fine usually non diminishing polishes like Uno Pure, Scholl S40 and Shine Supply Classic finish usually don’t finish as well for me 90+% of the time. There seems to be more rare cases on some paints where they do work extremely well but that’s more of a rarity rather than the norm. I guess what I’d also say is that I do tend to have better success with them on rotates rather than DAs and also when using extremely small amounts of product on my pads and at lower machine speeds. Personally I just keep them as trouble shooting polishes and don’t really tend to grab them unless my usual polishes just aren’t working.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Funny you mention S40 and Classic Finish as I have had the same exact issues with them as well. I am yet to try Pure on rotary or gear driven, but I have just had the worst experience with it from a finishing standpoint on a Random orbital every time I’ve tried it. I hate that but I am glad to know I’m not alone. Classic Polish is much better than Finish, but you do have to work it a very long time in my experience which is not always enjoyable for me. Finesse is about as perfect as it gets imo, I just wish it dusted less! Thanks for your time Sandro. I will try and leave you alone and just enjoy the videos 😂
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing They did, Classic Finish Plus! I actually just received it yesterday and tried it, and sadly it didn’t seem to perform much better than the original. However, I only tried it on a single panel so it’s hardly a fair comparison. Ended up cycling out Classic Polish on an Orange HDO but it took a very long time to cycle down, with a pad blowout in between which is quite annoying to me..I like a quick finisher if possible. Looking forward to seeing what you think! Jace/TLD (TLC) will also be releasing a finishing polish at some point, I have a small sample to play with at the moment which I’m excited about!
It’s hard to say when you don’t directly test the compounds or have extensive experience with them, but based on limited experience with CutMax I don’t feel it would finish quite as well as these compounds or have quite as good a user experience, but it’s cut may be comparative - but don’t hold to me to it.
I notice you are using the Rupes Mark 2 21". Is that the 5" backing plate on it? If so, how does that work for you? Debating if I should go that route as i have the same machine. thanks bud
It’s actually the LHR15 with the original backing plate not the 21. But I’m personally not a fan of switching backing plate sizes as it makes the machine run rough because DA polishers have specific counter weights set up for specific sized backing plates and rotational throws.
You can really use any of them on gel coats (which what boats are clear coated with). Gel coats tend to be harder than car clear coats and tend to mostly suffer from oxidation, so a wool pad and rotary polisher would generally be a good option for your cutting stage with a heavy cut compound.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Yeah ive been looking into getting a good cheap polisher, i think i might be getting the toolpro polisher-sander from super cheap and a good wool pad
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thanks Sandro for all your help and advice. Would like to see some reviews on the Osren compound and polish range. Once again thanks.
Thanks, and I did a past review and comparison with 3D ACA 500 ruclips.net/video/tnkccJ4olCU/видео.html And I’ve also reviewed a couple more of their compounds in the past, but there will hopefully be more in the future.
I believe in that video I was using the Rupes LH19E rotary. I tend to use quite a variety of pads, the new Rupes rotary pad range is actually pretty good and I’ll mostly use it with 3” and 5” pads, sometimes 6” as well. The larger backing plate is the one that comes with the polisher but I also use the Shine Mate 1” to 6” rotary backing plates.
I’ve specifically reviewed both these compounds on my channel and I also compared them in this video 🙂 S2C may cut a touch more than S2B but on almost every other front S2B is superior as just a wonderful heavy cut compound.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Sorry but I maybe overlooked the videos cause I searched for it,my bad. How would you compare it to ACA 500 x-tra ? it's easier for me to get S2B (aside from price) ,as a friend of mine sells scholl.
I think ACA 500 is closer to S2C - both cut extremely well but don’t have the best finishing abilities or user experience experience, so if cut is all you’re interested in them maybe those two are a better choice. But if you also want a heavy cut compound that can finish quite well, dust less and be quite adaptable, then S2B would be the one.
Hi Sandro I think the work you do is fantastic, I was always under the impression you got the best from the Bigfoot machines on a speed set between 4-5 but I noticed you had them working at 6 and 5 is that a normal thing you do? Jason
Thanks, and there’s on screen text in the video listing the pads used which are pads I do use quite frequently like the Lake Country HDO and SDO foam, microfibre and wool pad range, but I also use various Rupes and Shine Mate pads.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thank you for the reply. As I watch the video again, I see that you described the type of pads that were used. Your technique is awesome. Would say how these compounds compare to Meguiars?
I still haven’t tried Meguiar’s newer M110 as I don’t think it even made it to Australia almost 2yrs on! Meguiars has a lot of compounds so it’s really hard to make a general comparison.
Sandro - I have been using both UltraCut and TLC+ a lot lately and I absolutely love both. Having played with the 2-3 main polishes from Shine Supply, how do you think they (Classic Cut / Flat Top / Chop Top) are in comparison to UltraCut and TLC+? I see many raving about Flat Top, but in my experience it is only very effective cut-wise in extremely small sections, and although it works quickly, I feel like I end up taking longer overall due to having to work such small sections and re-do areas if I work too large of a section. I’m sure you have a lot in the works, but I would *love* to see some of the Shine Supply polishes compared to TLC+/UltraCut/S2 Black etc
Just like you I know a few detailers that absolutely love Shine Supply compounds, but for be personally I think both Classic Cut and Classic Polish are the ones that I’ve had the best success with and I actually like them a lot. I’ve not personally have the same success with Flat Top and Chop top which are more closely matched to Ultracut and TLC+ in terms of levelling abilities. I find I don’t get as much cut or as good a finish but maybe that’s just due to my style of paint correction - we are all different 🙂
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thank you for the reply! I completely understand and agree - Classic Cut & Classic Polish are my favorites, Flat Top and Chop Top seem to let me down more often than not. Wanted to ask one more thing - when it comes to leveling abilities in UltraCut, S2 Black, and TLC+, I have found S2 Black to be rather weak compared to the two the more that I play with them all (even trying to tweak my approach), but I know that is not the experience you’ve had. On moderate to harder clears, do you find microfiber or wool to be more aggressive? Big fan of both LC Low Lint Lambswool and LC MF, usually I will break out a rotary for super hard clear coats but still curious
It really depends on the specific pad for me. I’d say the Lake County SDO LL pad is the fastest cutting pad I’ve used, though it’s not all that smooth on DAs but nicer of rotaries. The HDO LL wool pad is much nicer and more comfortable to work with but not quite as aggressive at cutting harder paints. Apart from those wool pads I’d say on a DA both the LC and Meguiars microfibre cutting pads are the next best defect levelling pads and should also finish much better, but the Meguiars just suffers from excess heat much more than the LC ones.
I honestly think you’d be happy with either coating based on their reputation, but in saying that it’s been a while since I use CQuartz TiO2 and I really don’t have much experience with Crystal serum light, so I may not be the best person to ask.
I personally don’t feel you need specific compounds for specific types of machines. The 3401 would sit in between a DA and rotary so you should see similar results in any case.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Ah cool thanks Sandro, I couldn't find anywhere that is was just for black paint, and hoped it would be simply a marketing thing. I used S20 Black yesterday on my 2007 Subaru in Crystal Grey....stunning results and great bang for buck at £20 GBP for 500ml. Panel wiped off after buffing off and Infinty Wax QDX Graphene on top.
Whats your thought on KochChemie compounds? They have been getting a very good wrap world wide.
I only have limited experience with them but I agree that they seem to have a good reputation
Thanks Sandro. Another great video. I finally got around to getting 3D's ACA compound. I wanted something more aggressive than the compounds I already had.
Waiting for the new finishing polishes, from rupes and the other ones.
Information overload 👍🏻😁😁 another splendid video Sandro , I am sure you could of carried on to hit the hour mark as you done well to get all information in under 30mins tho 👍🏻😁
can you please use dark test panels in the future it was really difficult to see the results on that white test panel in the 1:20ish mark
Yes as you probably know I do almost always use dark paints in my reviews as I also did here
Love your videoes!! Just picked up the new blue Rupes, after have been using S2 black som time now, and have the same experience with it. S2 and S20 are probably my favourites atm. Have you tried any of them om the Rupes wool pads?
Yes I’ve tried them with the Rupes wool pads and it’s a fantastic match
I’d tend to agree about the backing foam not being as durable as it should and I’ve actually mentioned this in a past video. But the best thing you can do is work with about 3 pads at a time and swap them out frequently to allow them to cool as heat seems to be the main reason that kills the backing foam. But I love those pads so much that I just deal with it, but I do wish Rupes would address it!
Suggestion: Could you do the same setup with: Rupes DA Fine Compound, Sonax EX04-06 and maby the Labocosmetica Leale? 🙏🏾
Try karros labs p20 p30 p40 and p50. Some of the best compounds I've ever used
Good video
Good evening Mate! Where would Shine Suppy Chop Top, or Griots FCC stand among these 3? Thanks for the amazing content Sir!
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thank you for your time, sir! I’ll pick up some TLC+ and give it s go. Have a great day and stay safe!
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thanks Sandro (yes, i watch and refer back to older videos/comments, hehe)

hello master.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing kamikaze v3 backing plate andEXCEL EVOLUTION 5” BACKING PLATE this one is good one?
Yes it’s a great plate for the LHR
Sandro great work as always! Do you have a baseline pad/polish combo that you employ on certain manufacturers vehicles? Such as: Audi i always start with this pad/compound and finish with this polish and Porsche is this plus this? Just wondering after you doing thousands? of vehicles you have developed a pattern. Thanks from Texas.
Thanks, but the condition of the paint, it’s thickness and the customers goals also play a large part in which pad and level of correction I pursue, so it’s really always changing and adapting to each new job.
What is the name of the song at 18:34.
It is so mesmerizing ... it makes me forget what I am doing.. polishing of course. ;)
Glad you liked it but I’m not specifically sure what that track is called but all tracks are listed in order of play in the description box
I use Rupes Coarse with yellow rupes pad. That dust and fling a lot.
Great video sir
Another amazing lesson... Cheers
Hello Sandro hope you’re having a wonderful day.
How do you notice when a paint is soft or hard?
You’ll get a feel for them with a little experience but basically hard paints take more time, aggressive compounds, pads and techniques to remove defects, but are very easy and non fussy to finish well with great gloss and clarity. Whereas soft paints don’t require a lot of aggression to remove existing defects by comparison, but are more difficult and fussy when trying to finish with great gloss and clarity.
What you think about Juice N Cut or Q Cut?
I really haven’t tested it out so I can’t say.
I have yet to find a heavy cut compound that finishes nearly as well as S2 Black!
Yes, it’s almost unbelievable!
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing 100% agree!
We can agree for 1.000%
Great work testing these compounds, if its possible can you test some Sonax polishes? Like Ultimate Cut 6-3 and Ex04-06
Thanks, but unless something has changed, Sonax just hasn’t been sold here locally for many years.

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing cutmax and perfect finish etc is available from the Detail shed and autobuff, both very impressive & versatile compounds Sandro, I use them everyday. Great vid mate 👌
Do you feel Tlc+ favors microfiber pads like the original or is it more flexible with foam and wool pads?
I would say it tends to excel on both microfibre and wool pads as far as cut goes, but reduce the amount of product on an intermediate foam pad and it can finish quite well depending on the paint type.
Like always... Very informative . Thank's. Have you tried Shine Supply Chop Top? Looks like another high performance compound.
Yes I have tried it and I do think it’s quite a good compound, I also really like Classic Cut
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing
Any chance to see review of Shine Supply polishes and compounds? Your tests and reviews is very important for me. Shine Supply is not available in my country. So it problematic to just pick up few bottles for testing :(
I have reviewed some of Shine Supply’s other products but I’ll also hopefully have more reviews on them in the future!
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing
Glad to hear that :) Yes I remember your early posts :) Well, again, thanks for your videos.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing
Funny you mention S40 and Classic Finish as I have had the same exact issues with them as well.
Anytime mate! I’ve also heard that Shine Supply is bringing out a new version Classic Finish so I’ll be quite interested in trying it out!
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing
They did, Classic Finish Plus!
Jace/TLD (TLC) will also be releasing a finishing polish at some point, I have a small sample to play with at the moment which I’m excited about!
which is the best? number 1?
Great vid as always.. Always enjoy your content.. But where would you class Sonax Cutmax between all three?
It’s hard to say when you don’t directly test the compounds or have extensive experience with them, but based on limited experience with CutMax I don’t feel it would finish quite as well as these compounds or have quite as good a user experience, but it’s cut may be comparative - but don’t hold to me to it.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thanks alot for your opinion.. keep up that good work
Do you always run your machine on 6? Rupes told me 4.5 for cutting 3.5 for polishing
Usually 4-5, I explained in the video that I was taking you through some of the testing process which means trying my diverse techniques
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Oh my mistake I thought I saw a 21 on the front cap and yes you make a valid point. Thanks again
What would you use on fibreglass boats?
You can really use any of them on gel coats (which what boats are clear coated with). Gel coats tend to be harder than car clear coats and tend to mostly suffer from oxidation, so a wool pad and rotary polisher would generally be a good option for your cutting stage with a heavy cut compound.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Yeah ive been looking into getting a good cheap polisher, i think i might be getting the toolpro polisher-sander from super cheap and a good wool pad
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thanks for replying btw, and great content!
Great vid as always Sandro, one question what cutting pad was that on the Rotary? Cheers
Thanks, and I believe that was a Lake Country SDO LL wool pad.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thanks Sandro for all your help and advice. Would like to see some reviews on the Osren compound and polish range. Once again thanks.
Awesome mate could you do a review on 3D line up of compounds? Preferably ACA Range ?
Thanks, and I did a past review and comparison with 3D ACA 500

And I’ve also reviewed a couple more of their compounds in the past, but there will hopefully be more in the future.
That's an excellent video that I've seen multiple times
Awesome review like allways :) have you tested gyeon compound plus?
Thanks, but no I haven’t
Is it possible for you to explain your specs on the Rotary polisher..... which one, backing plate and Foam pad size
Opinions on S2 black vs Shock2cut ?
Their pricing where I live is almost the same ( 32 vs 34 ) so a test about it would be much appreciated :D.
I’ve specifically reviewed both these compounds on my channel and I also compared them in this video 🙂
S2C may cut a touch more than S2B but on almost every other front S2B is superior as just a wonderful heavy cut compound.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thank's a lot 😃🤝

Hi Sandro
I think the work you do is fantastic, I was always under the impression you got the best from the Bigfoot machines on a speed set between 4-5 but I noticed you had them working at 6 and 5 is that a normal thing you do?
Jason
I’d say 4-5 is where I’m most of the time but I also use 6 and 3 at times just depending, thanks!
Great video. What type of pads do you use?
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing
Thank you for the reply!

Hi, Sandro I have 2021 Escalade and really I need help to what ceramic I can install on it my 2 choices is a Gtaqnic sermalight or CQuartz Tio
I honestly think you’d be happy with either coating based on their reputation, but in saying that it’s been a while since I use CQuartz TiO2 and I really don’t have much experience with Crystal serum light, so I may not be the best person to ask.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thanks so much I really appreciate your support by responding to me.
Did you finish the entire top with 4000 grit? or was it just that one section?
Another great Vid :) The S2 Black link goes to S20 Black. Does the S2 black one step as well as S20 black ?
S2 Black would overall be a better one step on harder paints, and S20 on softer paints
After using the S2 Black we would always finish finaly with a quick step of the S30+.
What is best recommended for a flex 3401?
I personally don’t feel you need specific compounds for specific types of machines. The 3401 would sit in between a DA and rotary so you should see similar results in any case.
Does Scholl Black have to be used on black paint?
No it’s great on all automotive paints and clears. The “Black” just refers to its specific line within the Scholl range.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Ah cool thanks Sandro, I couldn't find anywhere that is was just for black paint, and hoped it would be simply a marketing thing.
