Actually, it was by accident. The CFP committee is made up of mostly athletic directors from the Big Ten. Ward Manuel, the guy in charge of the playoff committee, is also a Big Ten alumni and current Michigan's athletic director. Originally, GA was supposed to play Tennessee, and Ohio State was supposed to be in the other bracket. But GA ended up beating TX, and Michigan ended up beating Ohio State and, in the process, threw a monkey wrench in their plan to cheat for Big Ten teams. And now we still have ignorant Big Ten fans saying the opposite.
Indiana, a Big Ten team, had zero business being in the playoff. Tennessee was an average SEC team who went up against a top Big Ten team (Ohio State) and Tennessee had an injured starting RB so they were limited. Indiana got smoked by Notre Dame, who's not even a top team from the SEC. There's absolutely no excuse for that if Big Ten was that great of a conference. Bama and Texas already beat Wisconsin and Michigan just as bad as Ohio State did Tennessee.

Disney (the parent company of ESPN) paid $3 Billion dollars for rights to SEC football games. They are going to do everything they can to get as many SEC teams as far as they can because they recoup that investment through ad revenue. In exchange SEC teams can turn around and run their mouth to parents and students by saying, "You're going to be on ESPN every Saturday, so you are more likely to get seen by NFL scouts!", thus giving them a recruiting advantage over conferences without that sort of contract. The only real downside for Disney/ESPN is that the SEC doesn't really have the mega-sized media markets that the Big10 does (with the exception of Texas and Florida). How many people on the west coast or east coast give 2 rips about Alabama besides the people that actually live in Alabama. I think it's important to remember when the Big Ten left ESPN, the network lost a massive revenue stream. To make up for it, ESPN had no choice but to over-promote the SEC. Herbstreit might lead the charge, but I'm sure other (ESPN talking heads) feel a sense of duty (if not pressure) to ESPN to hype the SEC. Of course some remain neutral, others might have a little SEC lean, or others like Herbie perhaps a larger lean. Now UGA I can understand as they won the SEC and earned that 2 seed. I am fine with that, no problem. But Texas? Dear God talk about the most obvious fast track to a semifinal home game I have ever seen. That is a team that did absolutely nothing during the season, beat no ranked teams and still is gifted the 5 against the worst playoff team (that they almost pissed away the game to), then they get the worst auto top 4 seed... then they are gifted the home semifinal game against the winner of the two best teams in the nation.

@@talkingcfbwithJJKitchen Your point about B1G/SEC bias by ESPN is well taken.
      ESPN can’t help itself.
For example, by every metric Oregon should be favored over tOSU in the Rose Bowl. But, they’re not.
Oregon is undefeated. The B1G champion. Has beaten tOSU. The #1 CFP overall seed. And, will be well rested, healthy, and had plenty of time time to review game tapes of tOSU and tOSU game tape against a fair Tennessee team. But …
That’s not good enough for Oregon a west coast, former PAC 12 school, to be given the nod and betting favor, even though they are no longer in the PAC 12. Why?
The same old decades long sports story. East coast sports bias and time zone differences. West coast and Mountain West teams will never get a break from the prevailing east coast sports bias lens.
Now the Big 12 and ACC are getting a taste of what PAC 12 and Mountain West teams have known and experienced for decades. The Big 12 is now being treated as an ugly, annoying, flyover country step-child at the expense of the ESPN bias favoring the big money B1G and the SEC.

4 blowouts in the playoffs or to be precise--not a competitive game last weekend at all. Why point fingers? What's the endgame here? End of the day it's lost revenue due to a ratings drop in all 4 contests. ESPN or the SEC gonna foot the bill? No. Espn aired it, the SEC only lost 1 game. I know you need content but this is a farsical talking point...and please don't mention Kirk Herbstreit in connection to the SEC. He's a commentator, biased and Big 10 based. To say Indiana and SMU didn't belong but say nothing about Tennessee proves the point of the ESPN bias. And your theory of low ratings because of blowouts is actually wrong. The lower rated games went up against NFL games. The worst game got the best ratings. Tennessee vs. Ohio State. It didn't go head to head against the NFL. But none of that changes the fact that ESPN spent 24 hours trashing Indiana and SMU, and Kiffin tweeted nonsense. But went radio silent when Tennessee got their heads handed to them. It doesn't change the fact that during the college football season, people like Cam Newton were saying things like nobody wants to see SMU, Indiana, or ASU in the Playoff. Or ESPN has been saying all season other conferences are lesser conferences diminishing credibility of conferences not called SEC. But it's good fans and media are pointing out this bias. Hopefully, the next cfp contracts will not end up solely owned by ESPN.

@lorenzohaynes3886 couple questions. Who was the best team that played last weekend? Most would agree osu, from a pure talent perspective at least. So, Tennessee played the best team on the road and without the best rb in the sec for whatever reason. The fact is that if you watch the games it was very clear in the Indiana game and the smu game. Penn st looked different. Bigger faster stronger. Smu looked out of place. Indiana outside the first 5 and last 5 min of the game looked completely outmatched. Clemson was competitive. But to make so many claims that the only difference between the SEC and other conferences is perception and bias? Really? Watch the athletes on the field, look at recruiting rankings, the results on the field from a championship perspective, the number of top 100 transfer portal players that have transfered to the sec, the money schools are spending top to bottom in that league, and the overwhelming drafted players. Its not just perceived by espn. The players and the people making decisions at the next level are showing you that one conference is leading the way. You have several teams in other conferences who are built the same and do the same things regarding supplying resources and attracting talent. But top to bottom the other P4 leagues aren't close. Its facts, not bias. And if by some miraculous conspiracy between espn and whomever else is pretty crazy to have so many levels all secretly involved driving this.

Recruiting rankings huh? How come so many teams on the list and o provided 10 games that were blowouts, but I actually could have given 15. It is Bias that Tennessee got its doors blown off literally from the kick. Every other game was competitive for at least a quarter and a half lol. The one time the ball doesn’t fall the SEC’s way and you guys cry. It’s just facts at this point.
