this song is my anguish anthem My mom died this past June due to breast cancer and other health complications. Today is actually her birthday at the time of writing this comment . She would have been 47. When she was in hospice and getting closer to passing away I was in an incredibly dark place emotionally and was close to committing suicide. I remember playing this song a lot on my drums and would always scream, pull my hair, and do other self destructive things by the end of the song each time I played it. “Keep myself alive through your empathy” are lyrics that will forever haunt me till the day I die. Thank you slipknot. Edit: thank you so much for all the support! For those wondering how I’ve been. I’m doing ok. Been two years since she passed. Redthir Jerdisheim cool story. Stick to you're bullshit Bollywood songs.
Slipknot - Skin Ticket
Zero and zero is nothing but zero
Cancer and people conspire together
Running and running and going forever
Collected and sampled, starving for zero
Come see my cage built in my grave [4x]
Minus the inside and minus the circle
Inhabit the riddle and fill in the hovel
Wherein and herein, between us and near us
Zero and zero is nothing but zero
Come see my cage built in my grave [4x]
Keeping myself alive through your empathy [4x]
Let me go!
Keeping myself alive through your empathy [4x]
Leave me alone!
Keeping myself alive [repeat 'til the end]
going through this album right now and every song is popping off. my playlist gonna be growing today.
IOWA is the best album.
Not SlipKnoT's best album, but the best album ever created.

Greatest comment.

Wow
Dam skin ticket, metabolic, and Iowa really shows Corey's emotions during the Iowa cycle
Definitely! I haven't found a band who put that much emotion in their music yet.

The essence of Slipknot, in one song
"KEEPING MYSELF ALIVE
THROUGH YOUR EMPATHY!"
This song, this album, every song on this album, is a total masterpiece
Or disasterpiece, as the band would like to term them.
...chills at 4:10-- His screams are so inhuman. Its amazing. Havent heard this track in years. Holy shit.
What about 5:56
Rest in piece Joey Jordison
Paul Gray
You will be missed.
Finally a million. This deserves a whole hell of a lot more. Some people are still starving for zero.

same here bro .i always listened to this song back when i was in the lowest part of my life .the intensity of my emotions back then was so intense that i forgot what was the reason or reasons i was so badly depressed that time ,but i remember a pic of a moment in my mind that i was staring at the door of my room and that lucifer will come in and then ask me if i am ready to sell my soul to him but not just fear im feeling that time ,it was more than that .don't know what trigger that moment but listening to this song and hearing the "keeping myself alive " and "let me go" part always reminds me of my chaotic past

Supposedly video of Corey singing in the studio was filmed but hasn't been released to the public. Probably for the best
This song got me to my job washing dishes on the daily. FUCK YES.
same
what is a skin ticket?
"In my opinion, the whole song is about Coreys life living in Iowa. Zero and zero nothing but zero means Iowa= the middle of nowhere. Running and running going on forever means there is nowhere to go, and he cant get out. When he says starving for zero, I think he means that he is STRIVING for nothing, and he wants something, and feeling, but there is nowhere to get it. When he says come see my cage built in my grain, I think he means the obvious... I am stuck here, and I have nowhere to go. But when he says come see my cage -built in migraine, I think he means See me, my cage, my creation. It makes him ache and hurt. He cant think. He has lost his mental picture of himself. This place he needs to escape. He needs life, and he needs to feel, but he cant. He cant see the world through his eyes, because he is stuck in his cage. His home. And when he says keeping myself alive through your EMPATHY, I think he means that WE are keeping him alive by our understanding of his lyrics, and his life and feelings. I think this song and all the others were meant to be figured out by us. He wants us to understand him. He needs someone to understand him, because no one ever did. He is counting on us. He needs us. If there are people out there that understand what he is trying to say, I believe he escaped his cage."
+Aidan Calhoun this comment wins. doesn't matter if the statements are correct.. such is art.. a piece of the artists soul the rest of us interpret and relate to
Always loved this, since 05
This has always been my favorite Slipknot song. The way his anger makes his voice tremble sounds so good.
This song gets me so emotional...thank you slipknot for such amazing music through all the years

3:44 THAT RIFF IS PURE EVIL HOLYF!
I'm gonna be honest and say that chorus literally almost made my cry a little, that doesn't happen often. It's not the lyrics, you can just feel how sad it is by the way it's sung
anyone still listening to this beautiful gem in 2024?
Yo, justo en este momento
this song never gets old. no matter how much i listen i never get bored.
Masterpiece
So ridiculously fucking awesome, and it's being played live again at Knotfest San Bernardino!!!

@@justasnoop2309 yea i also like butcher’s hook
For over 22 years this song has hit the spot in ways that are easier left for this song to explain.
I'm 35 years old. As a kid I only listened to aggressive music. Including a lot of shit. The first 3 Slipknot's albums remain among the things I still love and carry with me, with a few, of that period. They never get old like the classics. Sensational and milestone records of all music. There wasn't even any melodic singing from Corey. What a band. Love U
Some of the heaviest most insane guitar licks ever made. What a true work of art. The Shape - I am Hated - Metabolic really truly simply amazing. My favorite album. The pain of this life. Thank you Slipknot
might be my favorite on the album, its different and atmospheric and genuinely sounds tortured and sick
This song saved my life. It describes my suffering of migrane more than anything else. Having migrane+panic attacks made me build my one cage build in migrane. This song helped me to get out of it and makes me cry everytime at ,,LET ME GO!". I owe this song a lot and don't know how i would have endet up without it. It touches me more and more everytime i listen to it. Thank you slipknot for helping me through so much shit!❤
This is the most darkest and heaviest Slipknot song I have ever heard, and I heard every song. You can hear anger and deep pain in Corey's voice. I am addicted. 💜
You can feel the anger and true power of this song. Easily in my top 5 Slipknot songs
My lord. Such a pleasure to see you.
Nobody lyrically musically and emotionally paints a picture quite like slipknot
fucking love this band!
Always been one of my favorite Slipknot songs
This song hits pretty hard when you’re literally stuck between life and death. The reality of having to live until I die is excruciating. Sometimes I just wanna die in my sleep…
Me too
Darktimes got me here, slipknot got me through!
this song makes me peel of the paint from my walls with my damn eyebrows... love it
That makes no sense at all

It's 2023 and it's still a masterpiece! It never goes out of style.
Slipknot for life
16 years listening to this...back to my roots..... slipknot helped open doors to my ears...and hear spectacular music in this world...... thank you slipknot....maggot since 99.
The last 2 minutes of this song has gifted me so many PR's in the gym. I seach into the darkest parts of my soul and get so enraged and fueled with hate and disgust. Thank you for this masterpiece of an album Slipknot, without Iowa idk where i would be right now
This is one of my many favourite Slipknot songs ever
There’s just something about that breakdown on 4:24 that hits different. It’s fucking disgusting. Words/feelings that come into mind when hearing it are whirlwind and unbridled hate. My favorite Slipknot song
No albums nor songs can ever be better than Iowa
The Gray Chapter was pretty fukn good tho
Salt nah not as good as Iowa
Abin Joe Well. Slipknot is Slipknot. there is no other band like this
