Been hitting the bag for 20 years. Thought I was good at it, until I saw your video. Learned more in 9 minutes than punching it for 20 years. Thanks...........
Coralie Peterson wow ur really uncreative. 20yrs!!! U should be better then me and I'm the greatest in the 🌎 and this guy dont know shit about speedbag minipulation That's cool thou hes alright for a teacher of the basics
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
I tried your technique this afternoon and was able to do it within 15 minutes, I am slow but now that I am doing it correctly I am sure I can speed up. Keeping my hands and elbows up was the key to success. ( and not trying to loop my hand up and under the bag. )
I have been watching speed bag videos for the past month and this is by far the best one I have come across. I have been trying to figure out how to hit the bag from the front and then the back and this clearly shows how that is done. I am going to work on this and try and get it right. Thanks for posting this video.
I use to hit the speed bag in the mid 70s and early 80s when i was in the millitary but it was just 1 / 2 combaniton i am now 54 and recently bought a spedd bag and platform and double end bag for my garage. this video has realy helped me to get a good and different workout on the speed bag after watching a few times im allready getting the moves down with practice i hope to be as good as this guy that made the video the best speedbag video ive seen yet. Thanks for the Video and your help
Great speed bag video! I've watched others that don't give much detail, but when you don't have a trainer standing next to you the details are what matters most! Explaining where to hit the bag and where the bag will move as well as the positioning of your elbows really helped...thanks!
Thank you very much for posting a good clear educational video on beating up that bag. I'm just learning how to speed bag it and you are a great help for me.
I have that same exact arm you had on the speed bag in my Halloween decorations box. Glad to see someone has the same simple humor as me. You are almost as good as me on that speed bag.................have a nice day !
MrR - do not worry about thinking fast enough, or moving fast enough to do this. Start slowly. Every combination in this video can be done (and should be learned...) very slowly. Control is the key, not speed. Once you gain control of the movements at slow speeds, you will get faster without trying. My best wishes for your training!
Every so often I go over your vids ,I hope all is well and good with you Alan,I still train hard and I'm on the bag still doing some wacky unortoboxs patterns take care your friend and student Dee aka dpspeedbag.
Man this is like learning to hit the bag all over again, it's tough, i just can't get the backwards punching down..i hit the bag a little each day but this is a bit tougher than i thought, the bag goes everywhere but where i want it to go... I'm sure it'll take some time... Great vid btw
Glad it helped. Secret it bag belly height at chin or mouth to allow fist to make contact ON BELLY (not above) and pass through bag in straight line. Bag is on board when fist gets behind it, so no need to duck fist "under" bag. when bag comes off board, fist is already out of the way behind bag. than pull it straight back to chin. works every time!. sideways also. Good luck.
At this time I would recommend the BalazsBoxing Ibox wall unit. They are very stable, have easy height adjustment, easy to install and look great. balazsboxing.com/en/speed-bag-platforms/496-271-balazs-i-box-speed-bag-platform.html
Just tryed the double punch punched my chin a couple times on the back swings lol but after 2 min i started to get it. only my front delts get tired and a painful knot in my back starts to ach (problem b4 ever trying speed bag ) just wish i had a video near the bag, i kinda gotta memorize a piece run to the basement try it out etc wish i had a camera to record my progression. Inclosing great video and Deville Swivel #13 rocks!
Haa haa Art Vandelay huh, betchya that goes right over most peoples heads!!! Funny I have a cousin named Craven Moorehead and I used to go out with a sweet lil lady named Paige Turner, she worked at the Library.
You are very clever that you are analysing very good.. Your brain is more dangerous than your muscles.. You are a good teacher so that lm sure you are using your brain to the good side,, so no danger for us::))) congraculations
The position of the feet isn't mentioned. Do I place my feet so toes are in a straight line, or is the left foot out slightly more than the right foot in the case of a conventional boxing stance? In other words, is my boxing stance (I'm a rightie) my speedbag stance?
+tubesockets120v Sorry I missed your comment tubesockets. The answer is Yes AND no. Most of the time the feet are parallel about shoulder width apart, and you are facing full front forward. This is not a "fighting stance" but it puts the arms and fists in a position where they are equal distance to the bag, so neither fist has to travel farther to the bag. That is how most people hit the speed bag. Obviously it is not a boxing stance, but you CAN use the normal boxing stance if you want, and use footwork moving around to the right and left to the wall and back. Key to this is understanding that the fists are not together and the distances they most travel is not equal. The back fist (under your chin) is further from the bag, so you it will change the timing and distance. It will be more difficult to keep that bag going at a equal rate of high speed, because your repetitive punches are moving with different forces and distance. hope this helps.
+Angel Flores I got this platform from primefighter-dot-com and I also recommend the ibox model wall platform from BalazsBoxing-dot-com. I like the wall units that have two vertical wall mounts. there are some system that only use one center mount but I think they vibrate too much.
Hi I just wanted to know if the inflation of the bag impacts on its speed and should there be more or less air in the bag. And could you give me any more tips on how to make it faster.
Yes, the inflation of the bag very definitely impacts the bag speed. The more air there is, the fast it will go. However.... there is a point to which too much air (over-inflation) will make the bag very hard, like punching a brick, and it can also bust or explode a seam. Punch a very hard, overinflated bag can also injury your hands, so I suggest blowing it up and leaving a little "give" in the leather. Less air will make the bag a bit slower, but will also give you a bit more control. Hope this helps.
What speed bag platform are you using? Everlast HydroStrike? Also, what kind of swevel? let me know your setup, and any additional tip to make the bag bounce correctly with it. Great video, congrats!
This particular swivel is a home made rig taking a metal ball and hook out of a metal everlast Ballhook swivel and putting it into a plastic housing from the everlast plastic ballhook model. I take the plastic ball our of their plastic ballhook, trade it for a brush pile and burn the brush pile. then I put the metal ball into the plastic housing. It's fast and quiet. But lately I have been suing a Deville ballhook, seen on my latest video's.
at 6:28 he makes it look easy, but that shit is haaaaaard as hell! I can do the motions with my arms, but when I try it on the speed bag, I can't even get started.
+Angel Flores: Well, IF you are a new bagger, pure beginner, stick with a larger bag such as a 10x7 size or "large" bag. It is slower and easier to control. The next smaller size is the 9x6, which you could also use. If that size is a bit too fast, you can let a bit of air out, leaving it just a tad underinflated - and that will slow it down, but you don't want it so soft that the leather is creased. once all the surface around the bag is pushed out and smooth. that is enough air. Trust me, 3 or 4 more pumps of air will really jump that bag speed, so keep it a bit soft and it should work for you. Hope that helps. good luck.
you should be able to do this easily in a weeks if practiced correctly. it is all position and timing. start slow and count the rebounds if you must to get it right. You CAN do it!
sorry but the purpose of a speed bag is to help the fighter to keep his or her hands up while improving hand eye coordination, reflexes with timing. Also to learn to shift weight between the feet when punching.
OMG! @ 5:41 I'm actually having better luck doing it the wrong way! LOL! Maybe I should start this way and eventually learn to do it the right way. crazy!
The bag should be inflated to the point that the leather is completely pushed out and smooth, but not so hard that you cannot press in with your thumbs just a bit. It should have some give to it. When you punch with a bare fist you should feel the leather give in just a bit - but the rebound should not have a flat, dead sound. If it is too soft you will see the bag flatten on the board during a rebound and that is too soft. If the bag is too hard it will feel like a solid wall when you punch it and you hands may hurt after doing this repetitively. Also, if the bag is overinflated you can see the seams bulging out. Again, you should be able to press inward with your fingers and feel a little give. That is how I judge my inflation.
I purchased both the medium ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfh2XUOHWYHKQYOvSq2gZ6PyCmVkTFGWz and small speed bags from Meister. I'm very glad I got both as the workout is quite different from the two. The small is fantastic for getting your speed built up once familiar with your striking. The medium bag provides a considerable amount more resistance building more strength in your punches. I highly recommend both sizes. Some people have expressed concern over the latex bladder leaking down more frequently than the traditional rubber. I have not found this to be an issue at all.
If you knew anything about this him, you'd know he's not a boxer. He's just a professional speed bagger who's been doing it for over 35 years. His methods are to make it easier to advanced combinations way beyond the ones any boxer does, or needs to do. If you're looking for how to use a speedbag in relation to boxing, you need to look elsewhere. This is a different ball game.

@@dep7up Yea makes no sense. Anyone who practices half an hour for 20 days can be decent at speedbags.

You can tell he knows Speed Bags by how his t-shirt is tucked into his jeans.
I thought it was the mustache
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?
I was dumb forgot the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me!
@Paxton Kobe Instablaster =)
Yep Rabat’s exactly why I tucked my rash guard shirt into my shorts last night. I knew it would help me speed bag better
You show me a man with a mustache, dad bod, and his shirt tucked in. I'll show you someone who knows a thing or two!

This vid has blown my mind ! Now all I want to do is practice,practice,practice..
Really good solid advice and demonstration. This method scientifically shows a person how to go through the motions.

Thank you very much for posting a good clear educational video on beating up that bag. I'm just learning how to speed bag it and you are a great help for me.

Great point on the back fist being slightly higher than the front fist, brotherrrrrrrrrrr.
Thank you for the knowledge. It's really helpful.
this is great thanks, just started but hooked, thanks
speed bag can be addictive! #KeepPunching
Thanks for the lesson. Trying to be good like you someday!
How is the godfather of the speedbag doing these days? Awesome.
I'm doing fine, thanks! I hope you are well.
I really wish you were in New York I'm a dedicated but no trainers like you around
what speed bag platform would you recommend?

that is a model 400 from Primefighter Sports Gear. Awesome company, custom made and rock solid, in Noel Missouri.
best speed bag vid hands down, or up i mean

Hi Allan, TJ from Chicago here. Hope things are well with you buddy.

That speed bag wall unit is wall unit model 400 from Primefighter sports. Unfortunately it appears they are out of business now.

Get a Cleto Reyes Bag size small not extra small.
You can find them for $68 they are the world's best
Amazing. how long did it take you to get that good. I just started yesterday
Amazing 👍👍👍👍
Still trying to wrap my brain around the side double punch. Do I hit the side after the lead fist returns from the back or before?
Some say the height of the speedbag needs to bee between your nouse and eyes, and some say at your mounth.. what is the best height??????
Unreal.👍🏼
Does it matter what type of bag and swivel?
What speed bag platform are you using? Everlast HydroStrike? Also, what kind of swevel? let me know your setup, and any additional tip to make the bag bounce correctly with it.
Great video, congrats!
Speed bag beast!
Great party trick.
This is fast and stylish
Thanks very much. Dare I also say....pretty easy to do. :-)

Allen. Most of the other trainers and other site recommend using gloves or wraps. What do you say?
What is the brand and the size of that bag ur hitting..?
Awesome!
How do you keep your arms from getting tired?
very helpful, thanks you
