Çamlıca Camii (Mosque) in Istanbul is the largest mosque in Turkey. Located on the Asian side, Çamlıca Mosque is built on top of Çamlıca Hill which is visible from all around Istanbul. It is an architectural and artistic masterpiece, showcasing the best of ottoman design. Being the largest mosque in Turkey, it ranks in the list of the largest mosques in the world.
This mosque has its own museum which holds some of the holiest relics of Islam. Some of the most prized Islamic possessions of the Ottoman empire are held in this museum, including beard hair of the Prophet Muhammad, models of the sandals of the Prophet Muhammad, called the Nalain Mubarak, the inscriptions on the Kaabah's cover, the lock and keys of the Kaaba and many more! Turkey and Istanbul in particular have a lot of museums with expensive tickets for tourists, but the Çamlıca Muze (Museum) is not only free of cost, but it is in my opinion the best museum in Turkey.
Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque might have history attached to them, but they pale in comparison to Çamlıca Mosque which is by far the most impressive and the best mosque in Istanbul, and it is one of the must-see things is Istanbul if you are visiting. Due to lack of international awareness you might overlook this mosque but it is definitely one of the best places to visit in istanbul, even if you are only visiting for 3 days.
