24:00 It does seem unfortunate that characters can't react to books or scrolls found unless it's for a quest as the lore in them can feel contrary to how the player is presented that lore in cutscenes and gameplay. It can make for a nice dichotomy of different characters reacting to their teachings in different ways and different interpretations but I agree with you that the lore in the books really makes Shar out as either a chaotic evil goddess or a goddess whos followers are chaotic neutral and chaotic evil. Shadowheart blind in her devotion to Shar because none of this lore has been presented in gameplay does make it difficult to sympathize with her path. Of course that's always the difficult thing in games to play an evil character that isn't just psychotic and/or a murder hobo.
23:36 Was this the bit you were talking about on one of your recent streams? (The bit where you explained how you don't like dealing with overly depressing stuff.)
That's the bit.
out of curiosity, would you be able to roleplay a character devoted to a goddess like shar? or with morals in a similar vein? I tried that once, and i find myself struggling to even act in character in some cases. Also i think malus thorm is not someone who acts completely in the way shar asks but just uses it as an excuse. (the anesthetic for example) I'm not saying shar teachings are in any way good, but all the undead seem more twisted and lost.
I think I'd need to research how Shar actually is to know if this is how she's supposed to be. I've roleplayed evil, awful characters for games before, like in Fallout 3 where I happily nuked a town, but this game explores these things in a lot more...depth and realism, I guess.
