This is awesome. This song is related to a famous same name book by 村上春树。in that book, the Beatles’ Norwegian wood played a pretty important role. It’s awesome that you can understand the music so deep.
Great review of an absolutely classic song, thanks. It's one of those rare songs that you can listen to over and over again and never get tired of. Lyrics inspired by Haruki Murakami's book Norwegian Wood. I saw WBCB play an acoustic version in Sydney just this weekend. Still killing it in 2024!
He just made a big concert tour in China, where he asked the audience’s age. And he questioned why there were fans below 25 years old in his concert. He said they were not even born when he wrote the songs. That was a funny moment. But the truth is, he has many many young fans. Imagine you become a fan of your mother’s idol.
I like it! Finally see u do Wu Bai & China Blue reaction! Btw, Wu Junlin actually is Wu Bai (the singer) himself, since Wu Bai is his stage name. I keep looping their playlist everyday :)
Thank you!!!!! For reacting to this song!!! I love this song so much. Each individual instrumental melody sounds so simple or even plain, but the way they layer together is so just rich and entrancing. The strings aren’t anything fancy but complement the other instruments so well, and the guitar solo wasn’t flashy but held the emotional tension throughout the song so well. (Also I’ve been told that this song was in part inspired by a book of the same title by a Japanese author called Haruki Murakami!)
one of his signature thing u prob cannot pick up is that he has a very special accent (old Taiwanese mandarin accent) so the way he sings in Chinese is Very different from other artists. He's very famous for his unique style~~ I also Highly recommend his "'浪人情歌" "Wanderer's Love Song"
Wow you even covered Wu Bai before? What a classic man, you need to do a Spotify top 5 some time for him dude! FYI the "Wu Junlin" who wrote the lyrics and song, it's just Wu Bai himself. Wu Bai is his stage name, not his real/birth name. The man's a real talent man. He has also written several songs for other artistes before.

really appreciate you point out a lot details that usually doesn't catch my attention as an average music fan. your attention to the arrangement details of different instruments with the story telling of one song are very refreshing and interesting. I've listened to this song from childhood many many times, your review just gave me a new level of understanding to the song. appreciate it! great work and keep it up!!
you can go back to see the lyric for line 6 and 7-10. line 6 says "Is there any place I never went before in (your) heart" (also the "secret forest" in your heart) and line 7 says"The lake there is always clear", "there" means "if there's a place I never went before in (your) heart", and all of Lines 7 to 10 are actually describing his imagination of "that place I never went before in (your) heart" in line 6. So he imagines there must has all good things, like a clean lake, peaceful air, white moonlights, and the most important, the "hidden memories that you don't want to recall" and "deepest secret" (the end of second verse) That's why he asks himself in the chorus "perhaps I should not ask" BTW "Norwegian Wood" is a japan novel, Wu Bai wrote this song after he read the book; and the title of the novel comes from The Beatles' song of the same name lol
Wu Jun Lin is Wubai's real name. IMHO this is a well written song where the vocal, the guitar, the keyboard, the bass, the drum are very well executed. The drummer of China Blue is Dino. He is an Italian.
I would love to! Most of the Japanese music I've tried to upload reviews of has INSTANTLY been copyright claimed and blocked on RUclips... but we shall see!
@@spiderhandspnz Nice channel! You are obviously a master! Support from Japan🇯🇵. As for the videos which copyright claimed, what about reviewing the LIVE version like メロディー(melody) of Tamaki Koji and 雪の華 of Nakashima Mika. I found a lot of RUclipsrs using these LIVE ones and it seems that there is nothing wrong about the copyright protection. Anyway, looking forward to your Japanese musician series.

I really love this song and wubai ‘s singing way. So so heart touching. I am from Mongolian. I love to listening Wubai. So famous.

He is my mom's favorite rock singer. I'm surprised that even foreigners would listen to his songs 'cause they're really old fashioned 🥲
He just made a big concert tour in China, where he asked the audience’s age. And he questioned why there were fans below 25 years old in his concert. He said they were not even born when he wrote the songs. That was a funny moment. But the truth is, he has many many young fans.

Love that author. Liking this singer. And his music.
Yes
You got it on the nose with the 80s,90s feel. This song came out in 1996👍
Thank you, good to know!
Song that will never fade.
By the way this song is actually inspired by the book "Norwegian Wood" by haruki Murakami , Wu Bai wrote it after he read the book.
THANK YOU. I'm enjoying learning more and more about these dope tunes.
And the book is named after Norwegian Wood by the Beatles

Okay, I'll add Wu Bai to the list too! For sure.
Thanks for clarifying that about the names, I had no idea! It makes sense, now.

Recommend: Last Dance by Wu Bai and China Blue. I have listened many editions covered by other singers, but the original version is the best.
Xu jiaying’s cover is also pretty good.
Wu Bai is one of the best song writter. He has his own singing style. Although not perfect but we all like it. He is a talent in his own way.
most of good Mandarin lyrics is just like a poem, I believe the "forest" means "the hidden part of her heart" in this song
I see! Yeah they are very poetic
you can go back to see the lyric for line 6 and 7-10.
line 6 says "Is there any place I never went before in (your) heart" (also the "secret forest" in your heart)

That's why he asks himself in the chorus "perhaps I should not ask"
BTW "Norwegian Wood" is a japan novel, Wu Bai wrote this song after he read the book; and the title of the novel comes from The Beatles' song of the same name lol
I am a translator myself and lyrics pretty nail it 99%

I know some English and Chinese subtitles work well and help a lot. Very interested in watching what you have done.
enjoyed your video! keep up the good work! maybe review female singers next time? Faye Wong would be a good start, crazy vocals and melodies.
👍👍👍
thank you too much .i think you should add two zeros after the number of fans.
Most of Wubai & China Blue early songs are dark , pain and melancholy.
Will keep an eye out for it in the Patreon!
Interestingly, Wu Bai's native language is Taiwanese , not Mandarin Chinese.
In tw he is a legend

You're welcome. More to come!
Hello, welcome to five hundred clud, coz WU BAI chinese meian is 500
