How many songs can get away with using a slide whistle? 🤣 "Groove is in the Heart" danced us into the 90's! Every dance club bumped this over & over.
Deee-Lite has to be one of the craziest ensembles ever! You've got Phunkadelic Royalty, bassist, Bootsy Collins giving that sick funky groovy bass line, the beautiful, energetic Miss Lady Kier, the Japanese DJ Towa Tei, a Russian DJ named Dimitri, & Q-Tip the rapper from A Tribe Called Quest. World music for real!
Even though they had several albums this was their big hit. Rico you nailed it with the Soul. This song has it all - Soul, Funk, Dance, Pop, Rap - it's just too fun!

The members of Deee - Lite are Lady Miss Kier (singer), DJ Tei Towa (Japanese guy) and DJ Dimitri.
The rapper is Q - Tip from the hip hop group the Tribe Called Quest and that's Bootsy Collins from the band George Clinton and the Phunkadelics. He said at the end of the music video "Deee - Lite has been known to smoke. On stage that is."

Man, I loved this song back in the day, such a fun song. Plus got to give a shout-out to Bootsy Collins, he was the guitar guy you would see and the rapper was Q-Tip.

In my memory this is the first song I saw a rapper on MTV.
Good times where there was no shame in being fun.
On the bass and the fancy glasses we have the great Bootsy Collins (James Brown bassist)

Run DMC and Aerosmith did Walk This Way years before this on MTV...after that I saw Beastie Boys, EPMD, Fat Boys, Eric B and Rakim...there was a lot of rap on MTV before Q-Tip guested on this song...

In 1992 they did a really good pro-green, eco- friendly song called "I Had A Dream I Was Falling Through A Hole In The Ozone Layer" and later in 1994 "Picnic In Summertime".

Every one of those musicians was someone at the top of their game back in the day. Bass guitar was the famous funk master Bootsie Collins.
