@@liftedhearts2306 beautiful rendition of one of my favourite hymns. I knew that it was written by Mary E Walsh but assumed she had written the tune as well as the lyrics. I didn’t know it was an old Irish tune. Was she aware of that? Here in Scotland we have always sung the same version as you, but in the US I notice their tune varies a tiny bit. I think the Scottish schools perhaps learned it from Irish priests and nuns who came over here. Also our verses differ from the US version a little but some are the same. 🙏🏻

To me its blends pagan worship of Nature with the Christian Spirit of love and compassion.
