- One Piece Mod (popular content mod based on the anime, a lot of power fantasy afaik)
- Another RPG Mod (RPG mod with leveling and skill trees)
- Metroid Mod (I assumed it wasn't officially maintained because it was ported by a 3rd party (?), but it apparently is)
Split and Shadows of Addabon are NOT there because they were never updated to the recent versions of Terraria.
DBZ Terraria is a cool project, but not officially maintained afaik.
(All the mods on the chart should have over 25k downloads and be officially maintained by the owner (not "unofficially" ported))
great video. thank you. i think its alright if some mods were missed; it was obviously going to happen . instead lets appreciate that someone out there learned about previously unknown mods :) i wish more people would take the time to showcase at least a few unexpected or under appreciated mods. wound be fun to see which ones everyone would pick

It’s a shame that the mods “Another RPG Mod” and “Terraria Overhaul” are no longer being updated. They were excellent mods, but since they’re no longer up to date, it’s difficult to play them on the recent versions of the game.

Fun fact about this mod: If you window out of Terraria, it keeps running the percentage chance, but because of how things load when windowed, the jumpscare will *save itself until you tab back in.*

Thank you so much for including the Gensokyo mod on the list, both from me and the rest of the dev team! It's honestly crazy to see that the mod I started years ago, mostly to get better at C#, has actually become (somewhat) popular and well-known.
There's still lots of stuff we have planned for the mod as well - we're currently in the final development stages of our next big update (and even though it doesn't add new bosses, it's probably going to be the biggest one we've ever released).
Gensokyo is on the list because the mod is cool, and deserved to be there, thank you for your work :)
Making this video was my first time interacting with the mod, and I actually had fun checking out the various bosses and patterns you worked on, I'll definitely give it an actual try in the future!
I for one cannot overstate how much I believe how the actors of mashing Touhou into Terraria actually fits extremely well! I'm so attached to Gensokyo that I'm very much considering taking over for making a balancing and quest book add-on mod for that Bereft Souls modpack, whenever that's finalized
I've never touched Terraria modding ever in my life, but I want Gensokyo to follow me into Bereft Souls so badly that I'm willing to learn everything from scratch just for it!

It felt really iffy talking about Orchid in there, and I skipped some of my other mods, like Better Caves and Orchid Mineshaft for that exact reason (despite them having more than enough downloads to be eligible)💀

One thing that I think should be mentioned about The Stars Above is that the developer has actually begun making a full fledged Roguelite game set in The Stars Above universe! I think it's really cool to see it grow from a Terraria mod to being a standalone game. The game's called Second Stellar.

There is a large amount of players dedicated to ONLY playing calamity, which is really a shame given the scale of the workshop :(

@VerveineYT i think this is largely in part to calamity's difficulty modes that rework vanilla bosses on top of adding new ones, which VERY few mods even attempt (which is fair, its a lot of work). i simply dont care for vanilla+ experiences. there definitely is some of calamity eclipsing other mods though, simply by being so damn good and in the game for so long

The mod isn't actually focused on the Zoologist specifically, she's just the most popular NPC and the only one we have implemented at the moment; we have plans to expand to most of the adult NPCs once she's finished, as it shouldn't be too difficult to apply the code to the others. Our goal is to implement something akin to Stardew Valley's relationship system, allowing us to really flesh out the characters. I promise you that once it's done, it'll be worth your while...

Considering the speed at which Terraria modding evolves, this video will be irrelevant by mid 2026.
Jokes aside, the sheer commitment... Just how long did it took to compile all that?
Compiling the mods took one or two hours, since I mostly sorted through the most popular tMod stuff
Making the flowchart took 6-ish hours of work, and editing the video 24-ish hours of work
I also don't think it'll be outdated so soon, there are frequent new projects, but some of them don't get too popular (Rise of Ages is a good example)
I still added a watermark with the date, though lol

For a custom class mod, I recommend the Metroid Mod. The new hunter class has an interesting progression system (two weapons you craft at the start of the game that you enhance with addons you either find or craft), as well as interesting overheat mechanic that applies to both weapons and movement accessories. There's also new bosses throughout the game's progression and some quality of life items.
it's kind of unbelievable how well the metroid progression fits into terraria. i gotta play metroid mod again, it's been YEARS
This is a mod I feel guilty not mentionning, it deserved a place in there and i forgor :(

@naerolf09 Not really being worked on anymore? The last update to the GitHub was today, and the Discord server's got no announcement of hiatus. Scooterboot has taken more of a backseat, but the mod itself seems to still be in development.
@naerolf09 ? the mod was updated on the 17th of November, and the devs are playing all of the prime games for when prime 4 comes out.

I HIGHLY recommend to switch your Terraria version to 1.3 and play Split mod. It's a magnum opus of 1.3 modding with quality of the best modern mods

I Really like the Idea of a shapeshifter class playthrough with the updated old bosses like ocram mod
Another mod that fits with the Elaina and Kirby mod is the Metroid mod, where you basically play as Samus, another mod that adds a new class is the Dragon Ball terraria mod, it's really fun lol
The sheer amount of content you can get out of this *one game* through mods (and even just vanilla, there's so many interesting and unique things to do) will never stop delighting me.
I said yes to all the questions and now i am stuck at world generation. Worth it though

The gensokyo mod is a great addon mod for most playthroughs, it's small enough and the boss fights are well balanced for the base and post game content.
One that you didn't add or mention that I think is a really good Terraria mod is called "Final Fantasy - Distant Memories (Alpha)". If you are a fan of the Final Fantasy series you'll love this mod. It adds a bunch of spells, items, armor, bosses, and other stuff from the FF series. Even a leveling system tied to the various armors with benefits for wearing them. The gear leveling up with you as you level, and after a certain point you can unlock the various jobs from FF5. I've personally been enjoying it.
Another good mod that I highly recommend is called "Boss Checklist". It's as it says a Boss Checklist and is compatible with a variety of mods including Calamity, Thorium, Final Fantasy - Distant Memories, and I'm sure a good many more. Those ones are the ones that I know it works with. It can be a good way to figure out what you need to do next if you get stuck and don't know what to tackle next. What event you need to do, what boss you need to beat, etc.
Mining, gems, fish, random shit nobody should ever really care about, that's my drill.

Your guardian class inspired me to make a vanilla class that uses the spell books, I added like 16 new spells and named it Wizardry, this and my Pumpkinium mod is the ones I cherish the most, thank you for making this chart and doing very good Terraria content, and also inspiring people to make mods :)

@VerveineYTAvalis are a furry species created originally by Ryuujin. It got popular through a race mod for Starbound, terraria's forgotten cousin. It wasnt originally made from starbound as it had origins on Spore. Its a highly popular species for its lore and vr chat appeal

Tbh, some world gen mods can mess up big content mods worldgen, so be careful. One of my worlds ended up not having a sunken sea draedon lab due to a worldgen mod.

I'm honestly okay with playing calamity over and over. At this point I don't feel like I'm playing modded Terraria, I just feel like I'm playing Calamity. The mod is so good that it's always fun to start a new playthrough after few months.
Holy shit, thank you. I've wanted to get into playing Terraria mods, given I've spent hundreds of hours in the game, but last time I played Calamity and Thorium they didn't clcik with me - this video helps immensely with finding new ones to try.

Thank you for all of this. I played Calamity with my brother about 5 years ago and haven't played a vanilla playthrough since a few years before that. Definitely getting that itch again and one of the fun things about this game is stumbling upon new biomes or "structures" that I haven't seen before. I'm fascinated by all that is out there now! I'm itching to do another regular playthrough first but mayyyybe a tiny mod or two wouldn't hurt :)

By god you actually did find a mod for every single kind of player
do this again, but for QOL/Visual/Tweaks instead of added content lowkey
stars above is pretty cool, despite some problems with it. the bosses are good if kinda all over the place and very mmo-like relative to vanilla.
the weapons are insanely fun, though unbalanced (almost all too weak or too strong) and 90% of them are references to other media, if that type of thing bugs you. especially if you aren't a fan of anime style games or media, most of it will seem random or go over your head.
the random dialogue is not too intrusive, and it has interactions with other major content mods which i like.
my main gripe is how terrible and pointless the stellar voyage system is. it's an almost entirely self contained system which rewards you with items you can almost always get elsewhere. i think the only major content is like, a boss that you fight by using the system, and a few accessories from what i remember.
I kinda think homeward journey is a big content mod not only vanilla expansion
