  • GIS based soil loss assessment using RUSLE model
    A=R ∗ K ∗ LS ∗ C ∗ P
    Where,
    A = annual soil loss (metric tons ha-1yr-1),
    R = rainfall erosivity factor (MJ mm h-1 ha-1 yr-1),
    K = soil erodibility factor (metric tons ha-1 MJ-1 mm-1),
    LS = slope length and steepness factor (dimensionless)
    C = land cover and management factor (dimensionless) and
    P = conservation practice factor (dimensionless
    Conservation support practice factor (P)
    The conservation practice factor (P) represents the ratio of soil loss by a support practice to that of straight-row farming up and down the slope and
    is used to account for the positive impacts of those support practices.
    The P factor accounts for control practices that reduce the erosion potential of the runoff by their influence on
    drainage patterns,
    runoff concentration,
    runoff velocity, and
    hydraulic forces exerted by runoff on soil.
    The value of P factor ranges from 0 to 1, the value approaching to 0 indicates good conservation practice and the value approaching to 1 indicates poor conservation practice.
