I personally find this one to be quite weird. While the other worlds' OSTs are a good listen on their own, Lost City fits way more with the in-game sounds. It sounds like a 100% battle focused OST to enhance the intensity of the levels. Pretty smart, but makes it a bit harder to just casually listen to.

They narrowly dodge it, realising it was a trap set by the ancient builders. The scene follows a the protagonists try to survive the traps At 3:18, the protagonists have managed to not die to the deadly traps until 3:28 where the protagonists encounter an ancient creature that is released by a tripwire. 5:11 the climax of the film, the antagonists have reached the temple and are trying to get by the traps whilst going back and forth with the protagonists running from the creature and finding ways to outrun or destroy it. 7:29 the protagonists have outran the persuing creature and have located the treasure room, but the antagonists have too, they have a fight scene where they try to get rid of the other through activating the existing traps in the treasure room. However, this is when the protagonists realise that the ancient creature is still lurking but in another room. They realise that they need to break the wall to unleash it to get rid of the antagonists, despite knowing how dangerous the creature is after their first encounter, with the antagonists gone, its the protagonists and the creature... 9:41 the protagonists grabbed the treasure, realised that this creature is a creature created by the ruler of the temple to safeguard it, as evident by the carvings on the walls. By the looks of the temple. The ancient creature has beeb isolated from humanity for at least a few centuries before its first reunion with humans. The protagonists try to sympathise with the creature and calm it. The creature calms down and follows the protsgonists to continue it's duty as assigned by it's former master and the protagonists grab the treasure as they came for and returned with a new friend, with all of them looking at the sunset
7:45 this part is the best song in the whole game the last wave of Lost City sounds like it came straight out of the Dark Deception game when you are being chased or something.

Basically there was a time when people were flocking to Mesoamerica to find ancient cities from people like the Mayans and Aztecs, ya know? So hoaxes began to pop up (like the skulls that one zombie had, they were foraged for fame) and I think the lost city of gold was one of them? I think it's considered to be a settlement of the Aztec empire though. Basically the movies and partial truths about this era lead to this world.
As I’ve already mentioned in another comment, this world seems to take place in the 1930’s. Planes are already a well-established part of society, the thought of finding gold in a lost city seems to reflect back on the Great Depression, and the music’s quality (until Mid-wave B and Final Wave) seems to emulate old movies. An option for a grainy black-and-white scale would’ve been nice.
I think the iOS updates have unfortunately made a lot of music tracks stop working. Lost City probably got hit the hardest, because this sounds really good!
This has some 1920s film, OG king vibes all mashed together with a PVZ feel. Just imagine a black and white movie opening at 1:12. That’s why I love it
