I regularly run Arbok/Pidgeoto and my main pleasure is hunting MewTwo decks with the super effective dark typing. My win rate against MewTwo is at least 70%. Maybe more. Joltik seems fun to hunt birds but my OG snake still putting in work.
@@Jesman9I like the idea of Arbok but Galvantula can still hunt Mew and Mewtwos pretty well, as Gio can help Pidgeot and Galvantula secure the 2 hit KO. Overall, I think Galvantula better because it’s better against the overall field. That difference between 60 from arbok and 70 from Galvantula is so huge too.
I have been using this deck for roughly 2 weeks and it is absolutely insane, must be something like 40-5 with it. the board pressure puts your opponent in such a terrible position. A couple things, 1) Going 2nd, Joltik hit + Galvantula hit afterward clear all the legendary birds, Druddigon, and Tauros, which Matches up incredible well into the meta. The matchup to be wary of is Articuno though, since random Misty can speed it up enough to kill the Joltic even if Joltik goes 2nd. I actually considered Blue a sideboard card for this matchup. 2) Pidgey is better for going 1st. In my experience, you don’t need PidgeotEx, the focus is always to get Drive Off from Baby Pidgeot. I use Zapdos instead as a 6th basic instead. Zapdos can be our tank early, pivot mid game to chip, take a hit and switch out quickly, or build up on the bench and use to give the chance for an OHKO against an opposing late game bully EX Mon. 3) my list uses 2 Galvantula, 2 baby Pidgeot lines, 1 zap ex, 1 dedenne for basics, then 1 Gio, 1 Sab, 2 Pokeball, 2 Prof, 2 X speed. 4) This deck would really like a 2nd Gio but there’s just no room for it. Dedenne can be used as the pseudo-2nd Gio/Galvantula since it gets that +10 and has the chance to trap. I considered dropping an X speed, but it’s not worth it. 2 Sabrina is too much. And again Blue is a niche option against Articuno to help Joltic or Galvantula to survive Articuno 2 and 3 energy moves respectively. 5) Gyarados, Mewtwo, and Charizard can be problems, especially Gyarados because of Misty, but if you switch the opposing Pokémon around enough with Sab and Pidg, it usually screws up their energy big time. 6) If you aren’t going 2nd at the beginning and bring in Galvantula later, try to use it as the first hit on an opposing Pokémon after they’ve been forced in. Then switch in Pidgeot or Zapdos to finish off the Pokémon, allowing Pidgeot or Zapdos to take a hit from the next Pokémon. Next turn, Drive off, switch in Galvantula, rinse repeat. That is why the X speeds are so crucial. Please like this so other people see, hope this helps!
More curious than anything, why no EX? I feel like without EX, at least in Spragles games, it gave him some pretty big outs all things considered. I totally get not wanting to have a ton of Pideots though lol, but I couldn't help but feel like without Pidgeot EX, he totally loses that Pika game most likely.
@@vonwafer12 Agreed I feel like this deck really needs that big hitter otherwise you're stuck trying to maneuver around Pigeot/Gal and your win conditions become too slim
I like the synergy of Weezing+Arbok more than Pidgeot+Galvantula and the extra HP on Ekans and Arbok helps a lot. I will say that electric typing feels better than dark offensively
You are absolutely right about Electric being the better color to use. Joltik + Galavantula 2-shots all the birds, Druddigon, and Tauros. As for any advantage Dark brings against Psychic decks, Galvantula+Pidgeot still 2 shots Mew and can get Mewtwo with a well-timed Giovanni. Please see my decklist in my main comment in the comment section for more details 😊
A deck I was playing with is a discard and steel deck. Persians ability and crunch from Mawile with red card makes just enough disruption if you get the right pull combo it can be a fun way to cut your opponent off from finishing plays.
I cooked basically the same deck. But with one jiggly for sleep and with arbok line haha. So far still feels clunky. Still looking for a perfect pidgeot partner. Have a good one and keep it up mate!
i was trying to run a similar style with a pidgey/arbok deck to use "Corner" instead of "Electroweb". for some reason the deck didnt work well enough to stick for me but im really into this play style so im excited to try this out. ill give the random matchmaking people a break from my Sneaky Lee deck for a bit and try this tonight after work.
Hey Spragels, thanks for the new upload. Fun deck. The end card video suggestion get in the way of the final actions of the last match. Could you try to add a little buffer time to the end of the video so the end cards don't come in the way of gameplay? Thanks!
Funnily enough I messed around with a version of this a few hours before you uploaded, not seen any else run it before. However I’m playing Mew & pokeflute instead of Dedenne and the extra baby pigeot. helps to have a mon that can tank hits & can come in clutch against fighting decks particularly which chew though gavantula too easily. Not completely sold on the flute though, feels very rare that it ever wins games although nothing more satisfying than when it does!
@@spicymemes7458 most definitely! Dare I say, I like it better than pidgeot EX since it’s only worth one prize point too.. (also I have yet to pull or wonder pick even 1 pidgeot EX in almost 80 MI packs 😫)

Really wish they'd add the othe X-medicine cards (X-Atk and X-Def). If they did, Giovanni would be immediately swaped for X-Atk (cause it adds 20 instead of 10). Also, it could be the opposite and just stack together (imagine Blain being stacked with a X-Atk, adding 50 extra damage)
I'm still new to Pocket, but at 1:30 since the opponent didn't have any bench Pokemon out at the time, if sprage played Sabrina, would he have just won?
I personally don’t think you need PidgeotEX in this deck. I’m 40-5 at least with a version of this deck so I know how it’s meant to be played. You want to be 2HKOing everything by using Galvantula to trap during 1st hit, thats how the deck plays optimally. You need the support from Drive Off to support Galvantula to its max potential, as opposed to just damage from PidgeotEX. Galvantula is the main character in this deck, Pidgeot is for support.
Nice deck I use this combo, but only have the one of each of Galvantula and Pidgeot. Have two Magneton’s with Volt Charge ability, which I use to prep for a Pikachu/Raichu/Lt Surge Combo. Also have an Electabuzz with Thunder Spear which allows me to direct an attack on a benched Pokemon and the new Tauros card that does triple damage to a Ex Pokemon should I need to deploy it. Not a perfect setup, need to get a Zapdos Ex and a Jolteon in there.
It’s such an aggressive deck but also takes a bit to get online. Seems kinda inconsistent but fun nevertheless. Games are just rng anyway so might as well try crazy stuff.
I've been running this deck with arbok instead for a long time now. I prefer arbok for his strength against psychics and he has more health. Super fun deck
I respectfully disagree. While Dark is super effective against the Mewtwo matchup, Galvantula and Pidgeot still 2KO Mewtwo with a well timed Giovanni. And electric matches up better against the field. Joltik+Galvantula 2 shots all legendary birds, Druddigon and Tauros.

The version I use (see my main comment on the comment section) does well against Mewtwo and Mew but the Drive Offs and Sabrina are crucial to helping you win. Switch in Galvantula on Mewtwo, trap it, then follow it up with a Switch to Pidgeot and finish off with Gio.
Against celebi, Erika and Potions are probably the biggest problems, since they usually mean you need to attack for another turn. Turn 3 Exeggutor going 1st always kills Joltik though which sucks but Exeggutor is usually strong Turn 3 against most decks so I don’t see that as a huge thing. Celebi’s coin flips can be forgiving sometimes thankfully. Again, shuffling the opposing Pokémon around and trapping them to disrupt their plan is how you can beat this (force out exeggutor early game and trap celebi while it’s storing up energy. Force out celebi late game, when you have Pidgeot and ZapdosEx to take a hit from ExeggutorEx instead)

It is incredibly consistent, I’m like 40-5 or better, I cruised through the event and I know this will crush the 5-in-a-row Event as well. @@WinterSol619 For Pidgeotto, 80-30 so you have a Pokémon that is good at going 1st. Pidgey isn’t used as often but I use 50-20 Pidgey for extra damage in the rare circumstance I need to use it, since the deck really wants to fit a 2nd Giovanni as it is. Switching to 60-10 Pidgey isn’t the biggest thing in the world and can help out against fighting matchups since you prefer Zapdos or Pidgey as the active so Joltik and Dedenne don’t take any super effective hits early, and 60 HP helps Pidgey survive Giovanni boosted 2-energy Graveler or Tauros.
