Longer wheelbase means better high speed on and off road, as well as an exponentially higher towing capacity. The extra row alone can add 3-5,000 lbs onto the towing capacity.

Trucks nowadays prioritize a bunch of heavy and cheap “features” and interior space over the actual performance of the vehicle. If dodge and ford wanted to make the best performance trucks they would shorten the cab and remove all the extra interior crap that they pack in these.

Oh, I put my brother’s Raptor to the test when he had a hunting accident and I had to get his truck as close as possible to him. There was no log, rock or sagebrush too big that I couldn’t get past to get his truck near him. It would have been a long haul about 1/2 mile uphill that would’ve put a toll on the paramedics, EMTs and Sheriff and us to carry him to the ambulance. The truck saved a lot of time and exhaustion up hill to the road. It wasn’t ideal for life flight to land where he was so we brought him to the LZ.
