As a long-time Chicago resident, I was returning home from several business trips and O'Hare landing traffic was stacked-up. The pilot let us know and gave us a 15 minute tour of the Chicago downtown area quietly hovering/circling/gliding over Lake Michigan until he was given the clear-to-land.. One felt as if one was a bird circling over the Magnificent Mile and lake. A once in a lifetime experience (drink in hand and enjoying the view).
I’m a Chicago resident too, hey did you notice he flew past midway airport in this video, man it’s so small compared to Ohare and that’s why I only try n flew out of midway!
Wow! From above, the city looks like a computer motherboard :). Huge city. Never ends. The plane was so quiet and took of in no time. Good Airbus NEO. Great planes.

It's so rare to hear A321neo engines put out a buzzsaw noise because of how powerful and efficient these engines are. They don't require the fan blades to spin as fast as older engines. You can hear when the thrust lever set climb power, the buzzsaw is gone entirely. On the older engines, you'd still hear the buzzsaw even in climb power.
I'll never forget my 2 hour visit in Chicago last year. On my way home from Michigan quickly stopped in the city and went to the top of the Sears Tower like I wanted to. There's just one thing I need to do when I go back. Eat some pizza.
Great footage of the ascent and city lights, amazing city grid. This reminds me of when I was a kid and we would fly from St. Louis/Midway to Islip. Loved the night take offs, especially the steep ones where the plane banks to the side and you can look straight down thousands of feet onto the city lights while feeling the purr of the turbofans.

The very first time I flew on a plane, it was out of O'Hare, headed to Orlando. I lived in the western suburbs and I still distinctly remember flying right over my house. I even remember what my little mind was thinking "If the plane crashed now, everyone would land in our pool!"

Chicago is truly one gigantic city . I love seeing the curvature of lake Michigan. Towards the last 2 minutes of the video you can even see the lights of a city on the other side of the lake. I'm assuming is Michigan. Probably benton harbor.
I take pictures like that and everyone thinks I’m crazy, I stand up when the seatbelt sign is on to capture the moment. It’s exhilarating until you hit turbulence, and I drop my phone 😂 thank you for sharing

The Airbus A321neo in general is amazing! I flew on a couple of them across the Atlantic on Aer Lingus between Dulles and Dublin while traveling to and from London England for my family’s first ever overseas Christmas trip. I don’t recall seeing the snack bar onboard, perhaps I might have either missed it or Aer Lingus just didn’t opt for it like United did but either way, I had quite a smooth ride both ways.
