They adapted the exam as much as they could and didn't ruin it even though it wasn't quite the same in the lightnovel. One example was when Ayanokoji was up against a computer and several chess masters operating and analysing their match which unfortunately we didn't see.

Man I don't know why some people especially LN reader act like as if Ayanokoji is a edgelord or some kind of emotionless freak when he clearly isn't. I am currently reading the LN and from what I have seen up until now, he seems just like a normal person who was just raised isolated from other people and trained to be a lethal weapon (just my way of describing it as I can't find any better word to define it atm). He was forcefully made into a person that he is now but in his core he is still a normal person. He clearly wants to learn about human emotions and he is trying his best. It pains me to see how some readers of this series don't even understand their character 😔 P.S: when I said Ayanokoji was a normal person, I meant to say that he is not how most Ln readers or anime watchers assume him to be, at the end of the day he is a person too, a close to perfect human would be a nice word to define him( close to perfect human, not perfect human as no one can be perfect and Ayanokoji has his own flaws too which he himself admit he has)

wonderful episode! there would be so many things to say that I wouldn't be able to express just by writing... the challenge itself, the way it was structured, was beautiful, it gripped me more than any other episode of this season, but I'm seriously starting to think about who whether it's really Koenji, that calculation done well with my eyes closed, which was the most difficult, shook me a lot. I got very angry at the fact that Tsukishiro had a hand in things he shouldn't have, I'm happy with Sakayanagi's loyalty towards Ayanokoij who, let's say, he almost "admitted" (in fact he later lost the chess game) that if Tsukichiro hadn't interfered, Ayanokoji would have won, after all even the backstory is beautiful but after all that Tsukichiro bothers me too much I swear I just can't watch him because of how bad he is towards Ayanokoij. this end of the season is incredible!
It's still mid compared to what went down in the lightnovel. They didn't really capture how the events went or how the events were actually decided or what events were put forward. They didn't show why ayanokoji chose certain students for certain events. Also, the lightnovel did the tsukishiro part far better because ayanokoji was up against a super computer. The mental arithmetic test was crazy in the lightnovel. Fifteen 3 digit numbers all in under less than a second was crazy. They didn't capture horikita's desperation as well. However they did adapt it to the best they could and props to them for not ruining the event selection exam.

With his introduction, he made Arisu fall and stopped Ayanokoji from catching her, and here, he interfered with their chess match and made Ayanokoji lose. If Tsukishiro hadn’t interfered, then Ayanokoji would have won.
Its weird the school accept Chess game from class A. Didnt they say the game in this special exam cannot be ended in tie? There are multiple ways to tie in standard chess rule, how is this possible? even in LN, they didnt put a tie breaking rule of this Chess Game. In real life, its not rare to have a Professional Chess match ended in a draw by either lack of piece or Stalemate

After watching chess player on youtube report the chess match in this anime I see they all are absolutely stupid and their level are just around 1000 elo Horikita and the yellow hair guy is even below 1000 Four of them made many heavily mistakes and miss alot of opportunity Also the chess match was unrealistic as fuck if you watch closely at the chess board after the conversation of horikita and the yellow hair guy in first moves Also the information in the computer when ayanokoji take part in the match was weong compare to the match horikita played Fr this chess feat is stupid,nonesense and scale to nothing because on light novel it doesn't shoe their moves and in anime they are stupid and unrealistic In short im really disappointed at the chess match and see the producers are too bad to even care about logic moves in an anime which is about outsmarting

Instead of Sakayanagi's move Qxf3 (Queen on c6 takes Horse at f3), she should have move Bxf3 (Bishop on c6 takes Horse at f3) because this move is an unstoppable victory for black. Ayanokoji played a losing game. Ayanokoji's move Nxe7 (Horse on f5 take Horse on e7) was a big blunder for Ayanokoji. The author did not study this game thoroughly. A big flaw in anime adaptation.
