@@forrestdupre9916 Thanks for bringing that up. I was actually thinking about discussing Chuckie from All Grown Up too, but then decided to just focus on his character in the original series. But All Grown Up was a really great spin-off to the show, so I'll definitely make some videos about it in the future.
@@jrewing1512 That's right. He always overcame his fears when he needed to. He was such a great big brother to Kimi, he took on the role so seriously :)
My favourite Chuckie moment will always be the one where Tommy cuts his finger (or "gets a boo boo") and after being told by Angelica that if he removes his band aid all of his blood will come out and he'll shrivel up or get an "inflection" he becomes terrified of doing it again and starts to lose his bravery. However, when Chuckie falls down a hill towards a prickly bush, Tommy leaps in to save his best friend, but cuts himself again in the process. It's then Chuckie who tells Tommy that he had cut himself once before and shows Tommy that cuts do eventually heal. It's such a great turn around on the traditional Tommy and Chuckie relationship where Chuckie is the one who remains calm and positive and it feels so natural.
He was my favorite rugrat because he reminds me when I was his age. Anxious fearful insecure and trying to be a voice of reason. Regardless he is a true and loyal friend who has shown a capacity for bravey.
I think that's awesome! 🌟 There has to be at least one person in group of friends that stops everyone from making bad decisions, lol. I think having some fear is healthy - it keeps you safe. It's just when it starts to consume your life that it becomes a problem. Chuckie was a great friend. Even when he was afraid, he would always find the courage to push past it and help his friends out. That's a true friend 😊
I'm sorry for your loss. It was so rare to see a kids' show where they talked about loss from a kids' perspective. The Mother's Day episode was one of my favorites in the series. I really appreciated how they showed how a kid can process the loss of a parent. It's not easy to talk about, but I think they did it very well.
7:18 Well, this might be a bit of a stretch, but...remember the flashback from the episode where we find out about Chuckie's mom, the part where she assured him there's nothing to be scared of? Well let's expand on that: after she passed away, there was no one there to keep doing that. Sure, Chaz was still there, but he was also a very lost man; having lost someone very dear to him caused insecurity, leaving them both frightened strangers to the real world. I'm also sure that's why a lot of fans (like me) were very happy for them after the events of Rugrats in Paris. With Kira and Kimi, they've become less scared and were never alone again.
That's a really great theory Sarah 👍! I agree in that I think Chuckie was affected by his mother's passing. Good eye to notice that in the flashback. Perhaps it was her absence that left Chuckie fearful with no one to reassure him. You're right, Chaz was often scared himself, not really the best role model for Chuckie in that regard. I noticed Chuckie was less afraid after his father married Kira as well. I thought that was because he was just getting older but it was probably because of the influence of having a mother in his life too. He probably felt more calm and protected now that he had another adult to turn to. Plus, Kimi was really brave too 🌟
You did such a great job on this analysis. Chuckle was always a character I enjoyed because of how he took a stand for what he believed was right and that allowed him to grow as the series progressed.
Thank you Rohan, I really appreciate that! 😊 Chuckie was my favorite character on this show. He was timid and scared most of the time, but you're right, he stood for what he believed in. He was brave when it came to defending his friends and speaking up what what he thought was right. I liked seeing Chuckie grow throughout the show. Compared with the other characters, I think he had the most growth 🌟
Chuckie Finster is my favorite Rugrats character of all time... I always identified with him the most... Every single time I watch the Mother's Day Episode, I tell myself not to cry at the end, but I can't help it... Gets me every time... I always choose him in the games, and in Rugrats In Paris, Chuckie Chan was the man!! Chuckie is the best...
The Mother's Day Episode was a really good one. It reminds me of the movie Rugrats in Paris because they both talked about his mother. I always cry when I see that scene of Chuckie in the airplane wishing he had a mom 😢
Oh ya!! I just looked into that, and apparently according to tvtropes.com, there is a "redheads are uncool" trope. I'm starting to see that now. Chuckie, Arnold Perlstein, and Eugene from Hey Arnold (which another subscriber pointed out) are all shown to be in some way an outcast from their friends. 😯
It’s really good to have nice friends around him. In the future, he would’ve became a motivational speaker on how he was able to try new things and talked about his friends.
Chuckie: (after watching Tommy, who's living in poverty, get bullied and belittled by Angelica, he turns to his guardian angel) "I don't get it... Tommy never lets Angelica push him around..." Angel: "The only reason he's so brave is because he has you around to back him up." Chuckie: "Me? But I'm always scared." Angel: "It doesn't matter. Having a friend like you gives Tommy the guts to stand up to bullies like Angelica. Without you, he's just another broken down baby begging cookie crumbs..." (They sadly watch Tommy eat a dirty thrown out cookie off the ground)
Looking back, Chuckie was probably the bravest in my opinion. Bc it’s one think to face something that isn’t necessarily scaring you (like with Tommy) but I think real bravery is being afraid but doing what needs to be done anyway, which we see Chuckie do a lot.
I think his fears come from a few logical places and when all put together would explain a lot. 1.). His family life. - chuckle lost his mother at a young age similar to Dills age. In the mother days episode we see that well chuckle can’t remember having a mother he still remembers his mom as he often dreams about her being a sweet kind loving woman who loves flowers yet he always wakes up before he can met her. In the Paris movie we see him sad he doesn’t have a mom like everyone else. He knows he’s different and he’s missing out so yes I imagine that causes him some sadness and anxiety throughout the show. This can be further added upon when we consider his current home life pre chases marriage. Chukie when not with his friends was usually left at home relatively alone. Sure he had his father but seeing as his dad needs to do the job of two parents, tend to the house and support a 2 year old you can imagine that keeps him busy even in his own house so he’s often probably not in the same room as chuckie and therefore chuckie is often alone in his big giant house which in early seasons was depicted to look pretty big and empty probably because keeping in line with chase as an only father the family can afford less and a lot of what they did have is in storage due to memories of the wife associated with it on chases part. It would be scary for chukie to live in a giant empty dark house where the only happy parts are his bedroom, the kitchen and the tv/living room. Which along with his age explains part of his mental state and irrational fear of certain places in a home or certain objects in the dark. Also just look at chase he’s clearly got anxiety disorder and maybe depression and I’m pretty sure has or should see a therapist. So I’m sure that rubbed off on chuckie as children like you said at his age should mimic others and when he isn’t with his friends he’s only with chase. Chase is also a bit of a helicopter parent and rightfully so he’s afraid to let chuckie grow up or that he’ll make the wrong choice parenting because he’s doing it alone, and often needs the other parents to coax him into letting chukie have new experiences. To finally prove this chukie only becomes fully brave in the last seasons when he has a mom and sister to protect and we can see having a full family brightens up his home as it stops being depicted as big sad and empty but also allows chukie to grow in emotional development. 2.). His age. Some of his irrational fears just come from age. Imagine when you were a kid and all the stupid things you feared. Or how time felt a lot longer than it was. Or places felt a lot bigger and cooler than they were. That’s how chukie and the rest of the babies see things. The guy on the oatmeal box fear is not a lot unlike other irrational fears kids have such as the fear of puppets. I personally was terrified of the muppets and puppets up into childhood I didn’t think they were going to hurt me I just hated the uncanny way they looked and talked. I’m almost positive it’s the same story for chukie. 3.) Angelica yeah pretty much whenever chukie develops a new fear in the show we can blame it on Angelica. She causes him to be afraid of more than he should be which is quite damaging for someone who already has a shy fearful personality, getting bullied on top of that can make them even more afraid to come out of there shell because the bully has proven negative things will in fact happen when you do so because they make bad things happen. But not just that Angelica usually causes him to have more fear, like I said and at the end of the episodes he realizes thanks to his friends Angelica was just being mean and she was wrong and he has nothing to fear yet the fear never fully goes away I noticed. Chukie may realize whatever Angelica told him wasn’t true but he still keeps the fearful emotions associated with that thing explaining why in episodes after he may still appear uneasy about what angelic said deposit knowing it’s irrational now. Emotions for him are probably very hard to deal with or make go away because HES 2! First of all and second looking back to his home life he has a lot of isolation to mull in his feelings and sadly probably taught himself to be comforted by his emotions. He lost his mom and his coping mechanism for that seems to be just to keep any of his happy memories of her even if he does not know there about her he can still feel it so he holds on to them. This also explains why he holds on to his friendships despite developing faster. He does not want to lose anything else and knows he wants to keep his good feelings yet sadly that also means he teaches himself to keep all his bad feelings too. So yeah that’s my own analysis your welcome. I know. Nobody cared. OH WELL.🤷🏽♀️
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 Awesome analysis! Excellent points. I agree, Chuckie losing his mom and living with a single dad likely contributed to his fears. He didn't have any siblings to grow up with, so his house likely felt big and scary. Chas' parenting style likely contributed to him feeling so afraid as well. Good point, Chuckie was 2 so he just started learning about the world. Angelica really did make his fears worse. She always made him scared of things he never even thought was scary before. She completely took advantage of him for her amusement.
When I was a little kid, Phil was my favorite character in both Rugrats and All Grown Up. Now that I'm a 29 year old adult, Chuckie is my favorite character. His relationship with Kimi is my favorite out of the 3 sibling bonds in both series.
Nice comparison with Chuckie and Eugene. I never realized there were at least 2 clumsy red haired characters from Nickelodeon shows. Chuckie and Helga were really similar - they were both very self conscious 👍
There's a very popular character from another Nicktoon that is (IMO) a carbon copy of Helga. The only difference is that this other character is a guy. Once you do Helga's "Character Analysis", I'll let you know who that is
@@ellandecampbell6279 I know. Sometimes, I realized something too when I watch some of his/her video analyzing. This channel is amazing for me, because I really missed these cartoon, and it's so rare to find yt channel like this one. She/He deserve so much recognition.
Lot of things i can say about Chuck. He's a good friend, brother, and son. He knows when something is wrong and knows he shouldn't do things. Only complaint i had of him as a kid is that i wished he had the courage to branch out and try new things and stand up for himself. But he did in all grown up when he climbed down that mountain to save Tommy from falling off. I can relate to Chuck on one thing though. I lost my mom when I was a kid in elementary school. She had cancer it was rough especially around holidays and events in school involving mom's. But luckily i had my teacher to help get through it. I'm glad in AGU Chuck is trying to branch out more,do his own thing and gaining more guts. Guess his courage comes from his grandfather, man has major stones. In chucks future I see him as a reporter or news anchor man, telling the people real stories that they need to hear. Not gossip and bs like many do nowadays.
I agree, Chuckie was a great shoulder to lean on to everyone in his life. He was a little cowardly, but when he did find courage, he was able to do anything. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. That's great how you had your teacher to help you through it. The people in your life can make a big difference when you go through tough times. I liked Chuck in AGU too - he got into interesting situations and it was nice seeing him go out of his comfort zone. Those would be good careers for him - he liked to pretend he was reporting the news when he was a baby 😊
@@DialUpDigest yeah. Appreciate your condolences and your right about the people in your life. I'm glad Chuck started to do his own thing instead of following Tommy around all the time. I can imagine him perusing stories that most reporters and news stations would refuse to. Exposing corruption in the business world and so on.
@@slanetroyard92 I can see him pushing the boundaries in his career too. I think Chuckie would get more adventurous as he grew older, in his personal and professional life.
Oh Chuckie is adorable. He’s my favourite. I relate to him a lot and reminds me of when I was his age - some of things are still with me, like the anxiety and fearing the world.
I love Chuckie. He's my favorite character. He's a very caring and fiercely loyal friend and I connected with him in the movie Rugrats in Paris, because I had also lost a Mom and I miss her too. I was glad that Chuckie found a new Mommy in beautiful, kind-hearted Kira. She definitely ticked all the criteria that Chuckie wanted in a new Mommy.
Kira: Would you like something to eat Chuckie? Chuckie: No (Eats a muffin). Chaz: Are you thirsty little guy? Chuckie: No (Drinks milk). Grandpa: Do you ever amount to anything Chuck? Chuckie: No. A funny moment from the episode finsterella.
Chuckie's worst fears 😨 1. Jack in the box 📦 2. Monster's under the bed 👾🛌 3. The dentist 🦷 4. Barbers 💈 5. Falling down the drain 🕳 6. The guy on the oatmeal box 📦 7. Clowns 🤡
Accidents happen is definitely one of my favourite Rugrats episodes ever. I love how it deal with bedwetting. A very serious topic that is extremely sensitive to lots of people.
Chuckie is my favorite Rugrat. He reminded me of myself as a kid. Timid and cowardly and shy. What i love most bout Chuckie is he is able to face his fears to come through for his loved ones. Chuckie might not admit it or my not even be aware himself but all those years being around Tommy has rubbed of on him to a extent. I hope you do Character Analysis on All Grown Up to.
Chuckie was my favorite too! He was so sweet and always wanted to do the right thing. I don't think Chuckie realized how much Tommy's courageousness rubbed off on him either. Yes, I will be doing Character Analysis videos on All Grown Up! Stay tuned! 😊
My favorite Chuckie episode is when Tommy stayed over at his place for the weekend. It's one of the rare times the episode doesn't take place at Tommy's house. In this episode, we learn more about Chuckie. He's not a baby but a toddler, so he's learning to be more independent, like cleaning up after himself. His toys are different than his friends', he has a favorite show (that's not Reptar), he does things a certain way and doesn't mind Dummy Bear cereal (even understanding this is what his dad buys and he's cool with it). This is a completely different experience for Tommy because the kids are almost always at their house and do things his way. And he's a baby, so he's used to the grownups doing things for him.
I think he was always scared bc his dad was probably over protective after his wife/chuck’s mother died. Which probably coupled with anxiety due to not having a mommy of his own for the first couple years, so he just had Chaz who had awful anxiety and allergies to learn from.
Chickie's bio Age 2 Likes :Reptar,His friends, stuffed toys, His Wawa, having a sister,His daddy and his new mommy Dislikes :Scary things , the dark, Jack in the boxes strange pottys, the sandman, clowns, werewolf being bossed around by Angelica, BFF'S :Tommy ,Phil ,lil,Kimi,Dil,Susie,Wawa : Teddy bear 🧸,Melvin :The bug, 🪲
@@senorpedrosrooster Lil really changed. I didn't expect her to be the same person she was when she was 1, but I was a little surprised by the change. I think she was just trying to fit in.

I don't think its irrational for a 2 year old to be afraid of an image... they can't tell real from unreal. And a scary feeling can come from just seeing something you don't like, such as a scary movie, even in adults.
Good point. I thought it was strange because in comparison to his other fears like clowns, a picture can't harm him. But you're right, to a 2 year old anything can be scary to them.
@@DialUpDigest Yes! Thats why its said to be a bad idea to let kids watch any content that could be scary until they're old enough to conceptualize real and fake. Also, I'm scared of horror movies and haunted houses and I'm 28 lol. I'm not actually afraid ill get hurt or that what I'm seeing is real, but it gives me a scared feeling. Some people obviously like that feeling and some people don't.
During a game of hide and seek Angelica runs off with Chucky‘s glasses when Tommy finds the glasses he puts them on and and sees everything in the living room come alive then replies wow no wonder Chucky's a scared all the time!
It's a highly requested video, worth the wait 😊 And I have many more Hey Arnold Characters that I will cover. My goal is to make a video about all the characters in the show :)
@@joshuacoons8489 Sorry about the Joshua. I should have mentioned how I wasn't finished in the video. I really want to make "Community Posts" so I can explain what's going on with my channel, but I need to hit 1000 subscribers first. Once I do that it'll be easier to communicate with everyone.
I think Chuckie is pretty wise with his habits of playing it safe most of the time, however I hate how coronavirus is making me worry about germs the way Chuckie did as well as Sid on Hey Arnold. Chuckie’s mom was still alive in the beginning of the series as Tommy’s parents said his mom and dad will be back for him in Real or Robots and I think another time in season 1. I wonder when she actually passed away.
I think Stu only said that cuz he was so tired he got confused, and during the barbecue, it was probably either a friend or another family member that Chaz decided to bring with him. If you've seen the Mother's Day episode, they show her with Chuckie when he was much younger.
@Icebot7 I think Chuckie's cautious nature was wise too. Sometimes Tommy, Phil & Lil's plans were spontaneous and worth reconsidering. Luckily, they always seemed to make it through their adventures. Chuckie and Sid were really similar. They both worried a lot and about things that no one else seemed to care about. Oh, wow, I didn't know Chuckie's mom was alive at the beginning of the series! 😯 I wonder when she passed away too 😢
@SarahSims In the Mother's Day episode, Chuckie looks like a newborn to me, even younger than Dil. I think Chuckie was always 2 years old in the show so maybe his mother did pass before the show started. I'm not sure 🤔
I just remembered in Chuckie vs. the Potty, he said no one can make him use it, not his mom, not his dad, not the present of the B-nited states! I’m guessing she passed away sometime after that episode and that Nickelodeon decided this during the 1994-1996 hiatus. I guess they didn’t want to talk too much about deaths in a kids show even though there was the Melville tragedy.
I find it odd in Rugrats Go Wild, the babies think that gibberish speaking kid is Chuckie and he has black hair yet in Chuckie’s Red Hair, they don’t recognize him with his black hair and he tallks normal.
It would’ve been more exciting to see Chuckie have fairy friends that would grant his every wish. I think it would be a bit similar to Timmy Turner. I know he had friends already, but he could’ve used a little magic to make his life a lot happier. I bet he would’ve wished to be more brave or have a nice beautiful mom and a new sibling before. What do you think would’ve happened if Chuckie had a fairy girlfriend?
That would have been cool! Maybe they would give him confidence like Tommy did. There could have been at least an episode where that happens though. Maybe Chuckie would go overboard and ask for too many wishes and the end result isn't what he hoped. And then he would wish for things to go back to how it always was 😅
There are so many! I think maybe the time where he kept saying "No" to his parents (after Rugrats in Paris: The Movie). It was so cute how he was so proud of himself for being able to say this one word 😆
Thanks. In rugrats the funniest Chuckie moments was when he kept saying no after the RIP movies, and him mispronouncing words. In all grown up, the funniest moments was when he exposed Dil’s invisible friend Izzy, when he kept disguising himself as Chongo and going back to his regular self, when he dressed up as George Washington in the Project Chuckie episode, and when he said, “You know it’s against the rules to mac on your best friends sister” in the TP + KF episode. I never thought somebody would use the word “Mac” in a kid’s show.
What I wonder is, why is Chucky riding a bike when he's TWO? Even with training wheels, that's a little too advanced. Then again, the writers usually treat the babies as much older than they are (which even carried on into All Grown Up, where the characters were in elementary school but acted like high schoolers).
Hey l like your video about cartoon shows and characters you need to make more videos of all cartoon characters shows about characters it tech me about people in the real world about cartoon characters how real people in the real world and life. So can you make more videos about cartoon characters shows so pretty please.😊😃😉
@@DialUpDigest Kimi has potential to be an interesting character. Since her parents got divorced and her father moved to a different country. Maybe she was born in Japan then she and her mom moved to France. Anyways, she has to go to daycare a lot because of her mom’s job. One day, she and her mom moved to the United States. As she has gotten a new father and brother. We would have seen kimi adjusting with her new family, living in a foreign country, and missing her biological father but no. She’s a female but more bland and impulsive version of Tommy.
IDK I dont want to be too Freudian, but I guess without a mother in ones infancy he lacked a source of warmth and nurturing support that would have given him higher self esteem to withstand anxiety inducing situations doesn't seem like a fair thing to happen, but I think that might be a factor
Because he’s blind but he’s has braces when he is a teenager and when he’s older he still has braces I hate braces I can’t talk like Dustin from stranger things I talk like him
I wonder if Chuckie could have been autistic, which isn't a bad thing as some very successful adults have diagnosed with autism/Asperger's syndrome (Satoshi Tajiri, Anthony Hopkins,James Durbin, just to name a few). Anyway I think it's fairly plausible that Chuckie may have had Asperger's/ Autism because : He didn't like it when Tommy put all his toys out of order and was upset with the change. It could also be because he's only 2 but Chuckie has been upset by change several times in the show, such as his new bed or the using the potty. Chuckie always has an affinity for rules and following them. He didn't like getting dirty ,which could mean he has sensory issues. Prone to anxiety Irrational fears Started just saying no at age 2 whereas children at 1 yr old start speaking more words and less gibberish Could be bluntly honest at times
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 Very good observations! I think you might be right about that. Maybe Chuckie was on the Autism spectrum, which is cool. True, he really didn't like change. Whenever he had to learn something new it was like the sky was falling. Tommy and the crew really had to push Chuckie to accept change. He was also really strict with rules, anxious, fearful, blunt... I'm surprised I didn't realize all the similarities before! 😮
Mind you, the classic show came at a time when little was spoken on childhood neurodivergence. The most you saw of autism until a few decades ago was when it was so advanced that it hindered a person's participation in civilization, and even then it was played for laughs.
@@GreatMewtwo That and Autism Speaks ,ironically one of most well known "charities" more or less demonizes those on the Autism spectrum and says it desperately needs to be cured or we're automatically violent and going to attack everyone or that we're doomed to be forever isolated , dependent and social outcasts, regardless of the fact that we're not stupid- our brains just work differently.
@@GreatMewtwo Arthur actually had an episode where they were very accurately showcased what Asperger's/ Autism was essentially like and they depict those on the spectrum as highly intelligent yet having a few quirks

Chuckie, Arnold Perlstein, and Eugene from Hey Arnold (which another subscriber pointed out) are all shown to be in some way an outcast from their friends. 😯
Lol I can see him being like Eugene too!
Two Arnold’s too
@@samthegoanimateman6695 XD

It’s really good to have nice friends around him. In the future, he would’ve became a motivational speaker on how he was able to try new things and talked about his friends.
I can see Chuckie being a motivational speaker, he went through a lot 😊
@@DialUpDigest me too.
Chuckie: (after watching Tommy, who's living in poverty, get bullied and belittled by Angelica, he turns to his guardian angel) "I don't get it... Tommy never lets Angelica push him around..."
Angel: "The only reason he's so brave is because he has you around to back him up."
Chuckie: "Me? But I'm always scared."
Angel: "It doesn't matter. Having a friend like you gives Tommy the guts to stand up to bullies like Angelica. Without you, he's just another broken down baby begging cookie crumbs..." (They sadly watch Tommy eat a dirty thrown out cookie off the ground)
Just knowing someone's backing you up helps.
Awesome kid. It would’ve been really cool if the writers made a episode about Chuckie’s birthday. It would’ve been nice to see him get all his wishes.
If there was a clown there, Chuckie would probably spend the day running away from them, lol 😂
Probably. I don’t think that would be too good for him.
Chuckie had Helga's personality, minus the bullying, with Eugene's clumsiness and red hair
Once you do Helga's "Character Analysis", I'll let you know who that is
Wow, I never thought about that. You're right.

Tommy -The bravest baby you ever saw
Chuckie -The coward baby hero
Angelica -The evil little girl and Tommy cousin

I think he was always scared bc his dad was probably over protective after his wife/chuck’s mother died. Which probably coupled with anxiety due to not having a mommy of his own for the first couple years, so he just had Chaz who had awful anxiety and allergies to learn from.
I think so too. Chuckie's dad was likely a huge influence on how anxious Chuckie ended up being, partly because of the death of his mom.

And then he would wish for things to go back to how it always was 😅
Dial Up Digest In all grown up, what was your favorite Chuckie moment?
Could you do Chaz please?

@@DialUpDigest Kimi has potential to be an interesting character. Since her parents got divorced and her father moved to a different country. Maybe she was born in Japan then she and her mom moved to France. Anyways, she has to go to daycare a lot because of her mom’s job. One day, she and her mom moved to the United States. As she has gotten a new father and brother.

I wonder if Chuckie could have been autistic, which isn't a bad thing as some very successful adults have diagnosed with autism/Asperger's syndrome (Satoshi Tajiri, Anthony Hopkins,James Durbin, just to name a few). Anyway I think it's fairly plausible that Chuckie may have had Asperger's/ Autism because :
He didn't like it when Tommy put all his toys out of order and was upset with the change.
It could also be because he's only 2 but Chuckie has been upset by change several times in the show, such as his new bed or the using the potty.
Chuckie always has an affinity for rules and following them.
He didn't like getting dirty ,which could mean he has sensory issues.
Prone to anxiety
Irrational fears
Started just saying no at age 2 whereas children at 1 yr old start speaking more words and less gibberish
Could be bluntly honest at times
