It seems to me more like people who reach a certain level of perfection eventually reach a point that Nen responds to it naturally without them knowing, allowing them to push the boundary beyond normal means. Not that it was what allowed them to be good in the first place.
Pretty well said. I would just add that NEN in general responds to desire. What I would hypothesize with Komugi is that she was naturally very gifted at Gungi and thus became the bread winner of her family. But likely at some point her desire to not be a burden and provide for her family by never losing another match was strong enough to awaken her nen subconsciously. Add on the fact that she says she is putting her life on the line every time they play and you have the perfect raw desire/restriction to result in powerful nen. Similar thing could be said about Ben and his knives. Every time he killed someone, he made a new knife from his raw malicious desire, possibly also sacrificing the person in the process to subconsciously fulfill another restriction.
this is actualy a part of my theory as to why killuas family didn't teach him nen. they wanted him to get so engrossed in being an assassin that he naturally awakens it which would probably lead to him achieving his max potential much quicker.
A good example of nen genuises we see (also in the yorknew arc) is Neon Nostrade, who believes she’s a psychic but really she’s unconsciously summoning a nen beast to predict the future.
Stating the difference between someone who unconsciously learn things due to their environment vs someone who is intentionally learning it for its own sake was really interesting
What do you mean it was inconsequential to the story? Komugi awakening had a huge impact on the story and later we saw that again with Halkenburg. Ben‘s knife was a genius way of introducing the concept of this kind of awakening and that it isn’t related to the mastery of Nen but based on true virtue and dedication. It was relevant as a concept that was used multiple times as a huge plot point and even the Ben‘s knifes themselves became relevant again by it’s use in an iconic fight. Also as I understood it the poison was added by Chrollo. It wouldn’t last that lang if it was there from the beginning and Chrollo even knew what kind of poison it was and the amount it carried. It’s probably more like Ben unconscious made knifes that have very specific use without even realising that and experienced fighters just realised what the optimal use of each knife is.
I really like your interpretation that some people are "innately" talented because they were unknowingly conditioned for their talent throughout their prior life
Ben is actually a transmuter. He wasn't aware why the kinds poisons he put in the knives he made remained indefinitely, he continued to do it either way. But it was actually his nen that was giving effects to his knives. The killing just became part of the condition that made his nen stay after so many years.
cool fanfiction i guess. i dont even think the knife is venomous, it seemed to me that its just a model that is good for imbuing with venom, and kuroro did manually.
A bit of a leap to think the poison is specific to the Ben's knife and not just an applied poison on a Ben's knife. But also, yeah, I really love nen geniuses. A great explanation for how people can dedicate their time, effort, and soul into something, becoming so much better at it than even the cost would indicate.
Brilliant insight from Komugi nen pact with her life on the line. Just like Kurapika who puts their life on the line with Chain Jail to subdue even the strongest Spiders, Komugi puts her life on the line to subdue even the almighty Ant King in Gungi
I always thought that Chrollo just poisoned the knife himself rather than it being an actual effect from the nen that Benny put in. That is a cool idea though, that the knives he made have special effects imbued in each of them.
With Wing emphasizing the differences between the ‘natural way’ and the ‘accelerated way’ of learning Aura control. It makes me wonder if one is more common than the other, leading to the way passively intended by the natural laws of the universe to feel unnatural or rather uncommon as a result.
I do love those Ben's Knives, I do wish more of them were included in HxH. It would be cool if Hinrigh kept a couple on himself in case he wanted to turn them into an animal that deals some serious damage in addition to his throwing knives
The audio is so bad but your content is well done and for the most part, while you're discussing the actual content your delivery makes the topic engaging and interesting, good job on that
Not the whole time, she likely started playing without help and quickly gained nen assistance through intense desire, which was further boosted by her constantly betting her life on each game.
You are engaging with the literature properly. Some things in the story are intentionally left blank, because thinking about them is *fun*. If every single question you have about a setting or story is answered, the result is a very boring, horribly paced story.
This idea is fascinating to me as well. I think Nen is real. Chi, Aura, Qi, whichever way one refers to it. A talented architect can imbue their energy into the blueprint when drawing. A flute player can move and sway the crowd when playing because they are combining the music with their frequency. Even if Hxh is fiction, the idea of passionate, joyful creation is real

Like stands in Jojo

I think its her ability thats why chrollo was able to steal it.
@ it is her ability but she was unconsciously using it.
A great detail as well is how Silva identified Chrollo's knife as a mid-era one, which shows that Silva has more than surface knowledge of the knives.
yes, Silva is a fan of Ben's work.
And to think Chrollo just threw that Ben's knife away just so he can look cool while using Ren lol
im dead
Stating the difference between someone who unconsciously learn things due to their environment vs someone who is intentionally learning it for its own sake was really interesting
crazy that i never realized that her death was a nen condition thus creating the most powerful conditional nen in the series
I'm glad Togashi adds little stuff like this on the side bc it really helps with worldbuilding without altering the story

Man i love the world building Togashi does.

"Sometimes you just want to include something because you want to include something."
Hunter X Hunter in a nutshell lol
And the story is much more interesting for it
Thats why its such a good story
Oh yeah! I'll meme on it from time to time but I probably wouldn't find it near as fascinating if it was any different.
I thought that was Chrollo who applied poison on the blade since he seemed to know what specific poison it is and the potency of its effects
I’m pretty sure you’re right. Silva noticed the shape of it and assumed it was poisoned.
Chrollo seems like the type of guy that would test it on something to see the effects for himself. Doesn't mean he knew about it before.
@@flemch6136 honestly the image of Chrollo testing the poison on a whale for no reason is so random, it's kinda hysterical😂

Moron! Hes not a transmuter obviously
Where did you get these confirmations from?
They knives could have unique attributes. We don't know. Either way the aura of 2 people on 1 weapon has gotta make it top tier.

same place they learned english
I find it funny that Killua knows that the Knives are imbued with Nen when he just learned Nen not too long ago
These knives should be in the Succession War Arc. They would fit the setting with Kakin and the 4th Prince.
Beautiful take on lesser known HxH world building
very refreshing style of video. Love the idea of exploring other parts of the story
Usain Bolt is definitely an enhancer boosting his speed 😂
Its true for baki the grappler
Dang man nice video, it always amazes me how much detail is packed into this show lol

yeah!
yo also see use of vows and limitations, Ben could make his knifes after killing someone and komugi put her whole life on gungi
Brilliant insight from Komugi nen pact with her life on the line. Just like Kurapika who puts their life on the line with Chain Jail to subdue even the strongest Spiders, Komugi puts her life on the line to subdue even the almighty Ant King in Gungi
Just adds to the depth of the lore. Love it.
Good video I like the delve into something that might be overlooked.
this was a really cool video bro, nicely done

Machi can also see nen since childhood... So maybe she also unconsciously Awakened to nen

She made the ultimate nen pakt unknowingly.. if i lose in this game i die 😅

W vid
Awesome vid
Loved the video
a lot of people refer to them rather as Nen Prodigies as opposed to Genius since it's confusing with the other classification of Genius.
Love the video keep it up bro 👍
Maybe komugi had a subconscious nen vow
Really like the vid
Dope video and topic.
great subject.
W post
Half of this video was a scripted essay and the other one is a fan ranting😂
Great vídeo, love from brazil
Was Komugi really using Nen the whole time if she awakened to it while fighting Meruem?
Not the whole time, she likely started playing without help and quickly gained nen assistance through intense desire, which was further boosted by her constantly betting her life on each game.
Mereum just pushed her to the point that she needed to grow even more.
so a nen genius doesnt have to be some one who can win all their fights, or more its some one who uses nen efficiently but doesnt know hes using nen
That's apart of it but it's also having a very intense desire or desire to achieve a specific goal.

I enjoy Hunter Hunter. But Togashi does have adhd.
