I don’t know why, but this reminds me so much of the scene in Pacific Rim where Itachi rips the ship out of Gipsy Danger’s hands and throws it into the builds and it just gets stuck between two giant skyscrapers. 😂

One of the saws, specifically the lowest one closest to the city, is spinning backwards and I can’t unsee it
The one in front is spinning backwaeds, which is why the boats are being sent flying in the first place.
@@aRandomFox00 Sawblades work by "biting" off small bits of a material as the blade spins. The other way would technically work but would have to deal with a lot of heat generated by friction, as well as keeping the long edge of each tooth sharp as it constantly runs itself into a given material.
@@s1lentst0rm15 The downward force keeps the material from getting catapulted under normal use. I think that's quite important for many reasons.
@@aRandomFox00 Agreed, yet the saw closest to the city has neither of these aspects. I can understand why the saws were placed to launch any colliding objects, but not how the saw closest to the city has an improper orientation. At the end of the day, it's just a video but it still bugs the hell out of me.

How much force do you need to shoot a whole damn ship into the air? Like is this theoretically possible in real life?
You know that answer.
It's not really possible, Teardown doesn't quite simulate the way objects can deform without snapping. For instance there's the high rise building that ended up balancing on top of a needle thin strut after a ship struck it in the video.
Theoretically, yes. Practically, no. You would need a lot of power and probably a not yet known metamaterial to create blades that wouldn't be destroyed after a single use (or buckle under the ship's weight before doing any real damage). Also the ship wouldn't be launched as one piece, but would probably be rapidly torn apart and what would be launched would be more like shrapnel.
@@ondrej_hrdina The state of the blades doesn't matter, but the hull of the ship would fold like a napkin and the superstructure would shatter into debris. Teardown can't really model the sort of deformation involved because it'd make playing the game too taxing for anything short of computers used for world class scientific research or NASA calculations.
