@@2ALBSURE I assume it's exactly the same as on the 2020 model. I couldn't get a better picture yet. I still have it on my mind and will try to get one again, soon. I tried answering "Yohanan Medina 1 month ago" with more details to what is shown. In my case it is only one left, as the other one is already connected to the heated grips. It should be one of them. There will only be power, when the ignition is turned on.
Thanks for the video. I'm saving up to get this model of bike to replace my VFR800, which I already installed a similar dual USB port. On the VFR there was limited space behind the fairing panel so I had to get a socket that was of short length (around 25mm). Is there sufficient space behind the Kawasaki panel for a longer device so I can fit one with a built in LCD voltmeter? TIA. Tony.
Thank you for your comment. The one in the video has following dimensions: 6.86 x 6.35 x 1.78 cm (taken from the Amazon product description) and I'd say there is still plenty of room available => should not be a problem to fit almost any USB port as long as the diameter is about right. I tried taking a picture, but it's not a good reach and bad light behind the fairing. By the way, you could also get a Voltage reading from the on-board system (sub-menu in the setting of the bike). I am sure you will also be very happy with this model, once you have it - I just love this bike and think it's the perfect sporty touring bike (at least for me).
Thank you :) I just updated the eBay-link, it's now leading to the one I used, again. Maybe the picture from eBay will help you already? Otherwise this site seems to have it for the US www.cycleterminal.com/hm-sealed-series-090.html I don't know that site other than finding it on Google. So maybe drop them an eMail before ordering to make sure they are legit? Please check under: "2 pin HM 090 Male and Female locking connector" on that site I hope this helps, otherwise let me know and I try to get some other photos.
Good video, took me 15 min to do mine. I think the only suggestion as far as edits to the video (since you asked for those that gave you a thumbs down - which I did not) would be to do more explanation and then just cut to the job being done for that step. Watching someone unscrew things and trim wires is tedious and boring. Shoot for a 10 min video.
Thank you for your comment. Much appreciated. I am planning on doing another one or two projects/videos on the bike where such suggestions will definitely help me improve on the videos. With enough suggestions on how to improve on this one I might even try to redo this so it's more pleasant to watch and understand the steps necessary.
I think the connector for the heated grips might look a little different. Trying to follow the steps and you should be all set: In the video there is just the one connector left, as the heated grips are already installed. This might lead to some confusion. The connector is located on the left side downwards - please check minute 6:44. It is in the extension of the arm - reaching for the connector. That's also the position of the camera, facing towards the front tire: minute 6:55. The "cap" the connector is plugged into is wrapped with isolation tape around other wiring. Minute 13:40 shows the side-view with the other side plugged in and the connector (original "cap" left in place) bend upwards a little. Minute 13:46 is facing downwards again ("inside"-view) with the new wiring from the USB-outlet.
@@masterflashy Thanks, I have found the accessory connector now with the help from this video. Problem was I watched another video where they picked the grip-heater connector instead. They are exactly the same type, both plugged with dummy male connectors to have a watertight seal when they are not used. The thing is that they have reversed polarity so if you buy (like me) the factory power outlet and plug it into the wrong connector, you will have reversed polarity in the outlet. This may, or may not, destroy the accessory connected to it. Some cheapish USB chargers for example does not have reverse polarity protection. Another difference is that the accessory plug has a 3A fuse while the grip-heater plug has a 15A fuse.
Hi Masterflashy Thanks for the video, very helpful. I'm having trouble finding an available connection to plug the usb socket into. I have the factory fitted Kawasaki heated grips and I think that they've used the connection. Is there another one? Thanks

@@masterflashy on my ninja 1000SX of 2022 there are two cables in the front one is 12 v. for the knobs but the one dedicated to the usb socket is 5 volts. instead under the saddle there is another 12 v. cable.
Hm... I think to remember, there was supposed to be some type of service connector. But I am not a 100% certain. But the one for the front-outlet should be 12V, as from factory they are offering a 12V outlet in the front: www.kawasaki.eu/en/accessories/motorcycles/Ninja_1000_SX/2022?UidCat=0031WQ&UidSubCat=0378WlhZXFhaWllYWFlYWVhcW1pZ&CodeBaseInternal=0175MjBZWFha&Uid_Model=0897UFpdXFBbXw1bDFpZXA4MDVEMDFBZCg5dXFlQWF0JClw&Uid=0843DV9cXVtQUQlfXQpQXApQXApbWloOWFtRXlBaCVANWg4 And the one under the seat is for the rear (USB-Outlet) which should also have 12V as you mentioned. Here a picture from the voltage reading: i.postimg.cc/qMWwhrpj/12V.jpg Btw. the ignition needs to be "ON" - there should be no power, if the key is out/"off"
The USB-cover? I guess it comes down to personal preferences. My thoughts on it were: less flapping, no "weight" on the USB-cable that's getting plugged in and easier handling. Just open the cover, plug in the USB-cable and being able to see what's going on... - Didn't notice any flapping while cover was open and it does stay closed when it's supposed to with what seems like a tight seal.
It's the one linked in the description: from Amazon. Basically most 12V to USB Sockets should work. I am quiet happy with my choice thus far - working great keeping my phone charged / charging it up while using it for navigation. Also once charged up a power-bank at the same time. No complaints yet.
